Chapter 7 - Pharaoh's Ghost Curse

"Come! Come to me…!" The sound of the cry echoed and was reflected many times.

Ze looked around to find the source of the voice. Ze suddenly was near a pyramid that towered very high. Ze was stunned when she lifted her head, the pyramid was about to collapse. "Come, come to me….!" The pyramid had completely collapsed. A boulder fell on her and Ze screamed.

"Huh, only a dream?" exclaimed Ze, who suddenly got up and sat down. Cold sweat soaked. Ze got out of bed and drank water, then went back to sleep. Strangely, the same dream came to her. The voices came again. However, Ze is not near the pyramids, but is being chased by a mummy. The clock has shown four o'clock, soon the Fajr call to prayer. After all, when she was still sleepy, she was trying to keep herself from falling asleep, strangely, the voice asking him to come over resounded. In fact, Ze even tapped her ear to ward off the echo of the voice. Fortunately, after Fajr prayer, Ze could sleep soundly even for a while, because after that she had to get up, go to school, and deliver chickens to customers. It was because of this routine that Ze forgot her strange dream.

But three days later the dream came again. This time Ze was in the desert and met a Caucasian man. "Come to me, come to me….!" the man was crying while reaching out his hand for the Death Well Girl to reach. Ze did not accept the outstretched hand.

"Were you the one who called me a few nights ago too?" Ze asked.

"Right. And, I'm so desperate when you don't want to come near. I have contacted many people to come and help me. But only you can come so close to me," said the person.

"Are you Egyptian?" asked Ze, because in dreams he heard the calls with a pyramid atmosphere and being chased by mummy. The man replied that he was British. Judging from the clothes, it was ancient clothes, not the clothes of today's people. Ze knows because she likes to see historical films, including documentaries. The person's appearance reminded her of a certain profession, "Are you a researcher?"

The person replied, "I was originally an archaeologist, but because of the pursuit of treasure, I changed professions to become a treasure seeker in ancient tombs. It was this profession that brings calamity to the realm of death. Tutankhamun's curse dragged me into a valley of endless horrors. I am Harold Carter, one of the leaders of the tomb excavation expedition in Luxor, Egypt, in 1923."

Tutankhamun was one of the kings of ancient Egypt who had the title Pharaoh. He came to power in the 14th century BC. Excavations of the tombs of ancient Egyptian kings in Luxor were led by Lord Carnarvon and Harold Carter. Carnarvon is also British. They are both Egyptian historians. In its development, because of the fantastic excavations, Luxor became a very important tourist area. However, while the excavation was underway, Carnarvon and Carter stopped the excavation because of a dispute over who had the right to own the objects found in the tomb.

In fact, they had pounded the walls of the tomb and had found the king's coffin. "Carnarvon was so angry with me that he decided to go back to England," said Carter. "Before his intention to return home was realized, Carnarvon had a very high fever so his family was taken to Cairo for intensive treatment. At the same time, I was also experiencing pain and I decided to join my family. But from that moment on, strange things started to happen."

"Then what made you complain in the afterlife?" Ze asked.

"I was accused of making a pact with Lucifer. And those prejudices really bothered me," Carter said. The Caucasian looked down, crying, and his cries sounded terrible. "Since Carnarvon's death, successive deaths have claimed both the tomb-digging expedition team and the person entangled with the cursed tomb. Among the expedition team, only I live long."

Ze suddenly heard a formless voice. The whisper told her not to be fooled by Carter's words. The formless voice said that by accepting the talisman given by a spirit summoner, Carter had made a deal with Lucifer. The contents of the agreement, that the remaining life of the people who died first was given to Carter. So, what did Carter give to Lucifer to get facilities from the Bermuda Triangle Emperor? Sacrificing the souls of the expedition team members.

Carter didn't hear the formless voice. Surprisingly, the whisper Ze received was a rebuttal to Carter's words. Who is the whisperer? Carter said, "The walls of Tutankhamun's tomb which were locked for 3,000 years were torn down on February 17, 1923. The collapse of the walls of the tomb, seemed to free the curse of Tutankhamun who had been sleeping forever to wander around looking for prey. At the entrance to the tomb found ancient Egyptian writing which means 'death will pick up those who touch this tomb'. Carnarvon fell into a coma before taking his last breath on April 5, 1923 at the age of 57."

Surprisingly, at the time of his death, the city of Cairo was engulfed in complete darkness. The electricity suddenly went out for quite a long time. During the investigation, the darkness was not due to a technical problem, as no damage was found. It was a strange phenomenon, inexplicable logic. Meanwhile, thousands of miles from Egypt, in England, at Carnarvon's house, at the same time, his dog howled in fright before finally overtaking his master. Surprisingly, when Tutankhamun's body was examined, there were mosquito bite marks, which were located the same as those on Carnarvon's cheek. If it was a coincidence, why did the other deaths follow?

Most people don't believe it, including the Carnarvon boys. However, shortly after his father's death, he was approached by a mysterious woman. The strange woman asked him not to visit his father's grave. Carnarvon's son complied with the strange woman's request.

"If Carnarvon's son comes to his father's grave, Carter's life will be even longer," the whisper came to Ze.

What exactly happened? Ze was confused between Carter's statement and the whispers she received. Apart from Lord Carnarvon, there were several archaeologists and tourists, who suddenly fell ill and died in a strange way after visiting the tomb. But, at the time, people didn't associate it with the curse. They assumed that the victim had been sick before. One afternoon, Professor La Flour stopped at the tomb of Tutankhamun, and that evening was found dead. An American tourist also died at night after visiting the tomb. Carnarvon and Carter's assistants, Mace and Bethell, were found dead four months after the discovery of the tomb. Carnarvon's close friend, George Gould, took a visit to Egypt and stopped by to see the tomb, the next day he caught a high fever and died.

Radiologist Archibald Reid, who X-rayed the tomb to determine the age of the tomb, was again sent back to England due to illness and died. Joel Wool, the British businessman who visited the tomb, also developed a fever that doctors could not cure and died. Six years after the tomb was dismantled, twelve people who were present at the opening of the coffin had died. Seven years later, only two of the team are still alive, another 20 are dead, leaving only half-brothers Lord Carnarvon and Howard Carter. However, Carnarvon's half-brother decided to commit suicide.

Richard Adamson, in 1969, was the only surviving member since the 1923 expedition. He lost his wife within 24 hours of speaking out against the curse. His son breaks a bone in a plane crash as he discusses the curse again. Then, when he was interviewed on television and still said he was against the curse, on his way out of the television station, he was thrown from the taxi seat and a passing tram nearly broke his head. He was hospitalized with fractures and other injuries. From then on, Adamson acknowledged that the curse did exist.

Mohammed Ibrahim, director of an Egyptian government department in charge of antiquities, in 1966 had a fight with the government because the treasures of the ancient tomb were to be exhibited in Paris. He failed to prevent the planned delivery. While leaving the meeting room, suddenly a car hit him and died. In 1972 Tutankhamun's tomb was flown to London to be exhibited in a British museum. DR. Gamal Mehrez, who succeeded the late Mohammed Ibrahim, said the deaths were mere coincidences. He denied the curse and insisted on bringing Tutankhamun's objects to display in the United States. But after supervising the packing of grave objects to be flown to England, that same night Mehrez died.

The crew of the Royal Air Force (RAF) plane that carried the tomb suffered death, injury, misfortune and catastrophe years after flying the object. The pilot, Rick Laurie, died young in 1976. While getting off the plane, technician Ian Lansdown, who kicked the box containing the king's death mask, fell because his ladder broke and left his leg in a cast for six months. Air Lieutenant Jimm Webb, who was on an RAF flight, lost all his possessions when his house burned down. The steward who played cards on the coffin had two heart attacks. The female soldier who was on the plane had to leave the Royal Air Force due to a serious operation. And the plane carrying the treasure suffered a fatal crash in 1978. In 1980, the British film company tried to make a film called "King Tut's Curse", on the first day of shooting an accident occurred and the actor broke his bones in nine places. When the actor was replaced by someone else, oddly enough, the film crew refused and would not cooperate with the actor out of fear.

Ze was confused, "What exactly happened to the tomb?"

Lous Bulgarini wrote in 1949 that it is possible that the ancient Egyptians had used atomic radiation to protect sacred places. The burial floor may have been coated with uranium. Or, the grave is covered with radioactive stone. Rocks containing gold and uranium are mined in Egypt. The radiation emitted can kill humans. Carter said that prior to digging they consulted Count Hamon, a psychic. They were warned not to enter the tomb. They also went to a spirit summoner for clues in the excavation. Even Carter got an amulet to ward off evil from the spirit summoner.

Ze said to Carter, "You've been warned not to dig the tomb, but why do you do it anyway?" Carter looked up, looking at Ze with a strange and frightening look. Turns out it was a cost issue. They had already spent so much money that it was impossible to cancel the excavation of the tomb. Ze suddenly felt a great earthquake. Her body was shaking. Carter's hand was about to grab it, but Ze managed to dodge. The earthquake was very strong. Hajjah Bod shook her daughter's body. Wow, not an earthquake, only a dream.

Arriving at school, Wewek brings news. Surprisingly, the news that her friend brought was connected with her dream. Wewek asked, "Ze, do you know the Titanic that sank in the Atlantic Ocean with thousands of casualties? The ship was carrying a deposit from the British museum, an artifact from Tutankhamun's tomb. That's why the ship sank on its maiden voyage."

Ouch, it just gets more complicated. Between a dream, half a dream, and reality, how come they are continuous. Ze gets dizzy. After school, in order not to be confused for a long time, Ze decided to sleep. However, her sleep ushered into the supernatural and met Hidr. The Death Well Girl asked wether Wewek's statement to be true. Hidr confirmed her friend's statement.

"So, the Titanic sank not because it hit an iceberg?"

"That wouldn't have happened if Tutankhuman's spirit hadn't changed the compass direction of the ship."

Ze was silent. "Is Tutankhamun related to the UWe?"

Hidr replied that Tutankhamun worshiped Lucifer, of course he did it to please the emperor of darkness. Death after death was indeed offered to the Demon King, so that the bodies of the victims could be used by the UWe nation.

"Then what are we going to do?"

"Now, the power of the curse lies in the talisman Carter once possessed. It must be destroyed. If not, then accidents and human deaths will continue to fall. Maybe there will be World War III. If the trigger of the nuclear warhead is activated, billions of new bodies will be obtained by the UWe, and that is enough to kill humans and take over the earth."

"How to destroy the talisman? Meanwhile, I also don't know what it looks like and where it is."

"When you talk to Carter's spirit there is a third party, but you only hear his voice. It was the spirit voice of one of the gravediggers in Luxor. That spirit will lead to find the talisman," said Hidr. With his abilities, the prince of the Holy Land showed Ze the figure of a spirit that was always whispering to her. The disembodied voice was summoned, and it turned out to be the spirit of Count Hamon, the psychic, who continued to stalk Carter's spirit.

"To take the talisman is very difficult. Besides being controlled by Tutankhamun, also because the summoning spirits are difficult to beat. He is very powerful because of Lucifer's favorite subordinate," said Hamon's spirit. "It's just that I heard that the dark nation is hunting for a human child. Life or death. It's just that they always fail to catch the child, so Lucifer has always been grumpy and stressed. If we can find the girl and can barter, then we will get the talisman. What is one human child in comparison to the millions or billions of people who will be killed in the event of World War III."

Ze became restless at Hamon's words. Seeing this Hidr signaled her not to be reactive to Hamon's statement.

"The only way is an exchange," said Hamon, as if there was no other way.

Hidr asked Hamon, "Do you know where the spirit summoner is?"

"By knowing where I am, you should know where he is too," replied Hamon.

Ze invites to visit Carter's spirit. However, when they found him, Carter did not utter a single word, silent. Ze noticed something odd. It wasn't before Carter could tell a lot, why was he silent now? "Mr. Carter, where is the spirit summoner's spirit?" Ze asked.

Carter remained silent, not even shaking his head. At a glance Ze caught a strange glint in Hamon's eyes and aimed at Carter. Apparently, Carter was speechless when Hamon was around. Ze said this to Hidr who then asked Hamon to get out of the way, away from Carter. As soon as Hamon left, Carter burst into tears, to the point of being shaken, his cries were so heart-wrenching.

"Does Mr. Carter know of the existence of spirit summoners?" Ze asked.

"That question shouldn't be directed at me, but at that monster."

"That monster?" Ze said, not understanding what Carter meant.

"I wouldn't have won with him," Carter said again. Wouldn't he have won if he was around? What does Hamon mean? Because when there is Hamon Carter just silent. "Come to me, help me, free me from the curse of that evil monster so that my soul may rest in the realm of the dead."

"That's why we are looking for the spirit summoner, to look for the amulet that was given to you," said Hidr.

"Don't be fooled, I didn't know that at all. Hamon, who came with you is the culprit. He's Lucifer," Carter said. Hamon is Lucifer? Ze was confused. If so, is what Hamon said to make the barter between the talisman and Death Well Girl a trick of the Devil? So far, these whispers are just a trick to gain the trust of the Ghost Hunter.

Hidr codes to Ze that someone is coming. From afar, twenty figures shuffled towards them. Carter sniffed with his nose, like a trained nose, like a police dog. "The bodies of Carnarvon and the others have come."

"Who are they?" Ze asked.

"The excavation team who became victims of Tutankhamun's curse," replied Hidr.

Behind the twenty shuffling figures appeared figures that were horribly shaped, with peeling flesh and countless numbers of them, thousands. It's the victim of the Titanic that UWe has used. Behind them again appeared thousands of ancient Egyptian warriors, the army of Tutankhamun.

"Ghost Hunter trapped! The Ghost Hunter is trapped! Long live the Great Emperor Lucifer! Long live the Underworld nation!" There were shouts of joy from those who came. The extremely sinister figures laughed happily, making sure Ze was theirs.

"We're framed!" said Hidr. Hidr grabbed Carter. "Why did you frame us?"

Carter denied, "Not me! Hamon, that shaman set you up. I peeked at your conversation. He was the one who proposed bartering between the Death Well Girl and the amulet now held by the spirit of the summoner. If that girl is still with you, and you are still protecting her, then the world of darkness will not be able to defeat her. That's why Hamon uses deceptive tactics."

Ze and Hidr couldn't believe it. Creatures in the waiting realm are unbelievable. However, Ze and Hidr had already been devoured by the whispers that were blown into Ze's ears. Who exactly are Lucifer's followers? Hamon, Carter, or the spirit summoner?

Hidr and Ze were tightly surrounded. Hidr made white bubbles resembling smoke which then fly upwards. Ze didn't know what the point of Hidr is doing that. "How is Mr. Hidr?" Ze whispered, worried.

"Go you. Let me deal with them. I have already sent a signal asking for the Holy Land's help. Hopefully help arrives soon. This is a battle of the unseen world and you should never get involved," said Hidr. Go how? They were locked up tightly, there was no way to escape. The line of besiegers is getting closer and closer. Hamon, king of ancient Egypt, and Lucifer approach Hidr.

Hamon's spirit said, "Will there be an exchange?"

"There will never be an exchange," said Hidr.

Tutankhamun's spirit was impatient, "Hand over the spinning iron riding girl!"

"No one's allowed to touch her!" replied Hidr. As soon as he got an answer, Tutankhamun immediately threw a weapon shaped like a horse's hooves at Ze. The Ghost Hunters had not yet realized the danger. However, Carter suddenly made himself a shield to protect Ze. The weapon slashed at Carter's spirit, a roar of great pain was heard. But Carter's body was intact again after the weapon passed him. Tutankhamun's attack became an order for his soldiers to attack. The troop movement was like a flash flood and headed towards the center, where Hidr, Ze, and Carter's spirits were. The movement of troops approaching Ze is troubled because of Carter's spirit who blindly protects Ze. With a shroud of protective light encircling it, ancient Egyptian warriors could not touch the Ghost Charmer.

"Exhaust the girl so that her shield weakens!" shouted Lucifer, on the sidelines of his fight against Hidr. If it wasn't for Lucifer, Hamon, and Tutankhamun, the prince of the Holy Land would still be able to protect Ze. But this time he couldn't do much. For some time Ze could put up a great fight. But without being able to trap UWe with balloons or glass tubes, the UWe will not decrease in number. It just hurts, rests a bit, then attacks Ze again. That goes on and on and it really drains Ze's energy.

"Prince Hidr! Prince Hidr! Hang on!"

There was an echo of voice chanting Hidr's name. Ze saw, behind the army of darkness that attacked her, appeared tens of thousands of troops in white clothes like Hidr. Lucifer's army didn't expect an attack from behind.

Sultanr, the king of the Holy Land, directly confronted Lucifer. "Dark Emperor, I am your real match against!"

Lucifer is honored to face Sultanr so leaves Hidr and attacks Sultanr. A great battle soon ensued between the two. Two maharajas collided with each other's supernatural powers. Now, Hidr only fights Hamon, because Tutankhamun has to face the warlord of the Holy Land, Maghr. The battle was temporarily balanced. The Holy Land's troops were armed with balloons and magic glass canisters and it defeated the UWe. Those who are caught, without mercy, are sent by balloons or magic glass tubes to the place of punishment. Imprisoned for thousands of years. Many of the UWe fled. Never mind Lucifer's screams that would punish the UWes who left the battle.

"It's better to face boss Lucifer than to be locked up for thousands of years in a magic glass jar," grumbled one of the runaway UWes.

Another UWe breathlessly chimed in, "Right! Moreover, now is not the time of Aladdin who can free the genie in the bottle!" The battle was lame. The spirit of Tutankhamun was paralyzed by Maghr and put in a glass bottle and thrown into eternal exile.

Likewise with Hamon. However, when Hamon was about to be put into the glass, Carter stopped him, "Please first ask where the amulet is stored!" But Hamon wouldn't open his mouth so he put it in a glass bottle and threw it away. Knowing his allies are gone, Lucifer with a trick manages to outwit Sultanr. The Bermuda Triangle Emperor fled. Ze, who was about to chase after him, was prevented by Hidr.

"He's not your opponent. If you meet him, you don't fight him. You have to go avoid him. This one is very dangerous and cunning."

"Why not just destroy his kingdom?" Ze asked.

"Not easy. There is a red line, which we cannot cross. If we violate that, we lose power. We can only wait for him outside his palace," said Sultanr. Ze nodded. If so, the war against darkness will never stop.

"Come to me! Come to me!" Carter's voice was heard. Ze approached. Carter looked in pain. The wound while shielding Ze made him suffer a lot. Maghr comes closer and notices something strange in Carter's spirit. Crossing one arm, Maghr expended energy to retrieve the object that was within Carter's spirit. It turned out that the talisman was in his throat.

"That's the voice of the talisman, not Carter. That talisman is what leads you to come to him," said Hidr. "And that's what Lucifer and his friends used to lure you." By Hidr, the talisman was burned with holy fire so that it burned and disappeared without a trace. Just then there was a disembodied voice, but Ze knew very well it was Carter's voice thanking him. Carter's spirit says that now he can continue his journey which is still very far away. Where to? Ze doesn't know. Will Ze return to reality soon? No, the Ghost Hunter is a guest of honor in the Holy Land. Months in the astral realm. However, when she returned to the human realm, her parents didn't ask anything. If so, her adventure in the occult realm is not long, only two hours of sleep. (*)
