''I will be inside…'' Rosa said awkwardly and smiled.
''Brother in law, see you around.'' Amala said and went inside with Erica.
''So… you and Kai are good friends?'' Rosa asked.
''Well, we are okay. I like him.'' Amala put Erica on the couch and answered.
''I see.''
''Elder sister, you don't have to feel awkward around him. He is actually good if you get to know him.''
''I know Kai, I'm just worried about Jolene that's all.'' Rosa replied and sighed.
''I should go in and change. I will be out soon.''
''Okay. Erica, let's go and get you out of the uniform too.''
''Yes, aunt Rosa.'' Erica said and got down from the couch.
Amala came out of her room wearing a pink dress. When Rosa saw her, she smiled saying. ''Wow! You really look beautiful. You should have been my younger sister instead. Jolene doesn't know how to cherish what she has at all''
''That's why she is going to lose it sooner anyway.'' Amala sat on the couch and looked at Erica whom was busy playing with her toes.
''Erica has AB- Rhesus factor-. The only person who can donate blood to her is Kai and she doesn't want to tell him about the child. She acted that way at the hospital because she was afraid Erica would be wounded badly. She didn't mean to act that way.''
''She is always the good one. No matter what I do, I am always the Judas of the family. The one no one can trust because I have a habit of hurting people.''
''I don't think so. You are a good child Amala. Right from childhood, you have always been a bright kid. You used to get 1st in class you know. It was lovely back then. You were just 11 years old when Jolene left the house. I remember you crying and begging your dad to let her stay.''
''I think I was crazy back then. I will never beg her or anyone to stay in my life again.
''Your sister is sad. She told me Kai asked her to marry him?''
''Why is she sad? I told her it wasn't a bad idea. Erica needs to know who her father is. She still has feelings for Kai. This is actually in her favour.'' Amala said and relaxed on the couch.
''You are so simple minded. I like how you live life.'' Rosa stated.
''I have no choice but to live wanting simple things out of life. In the end, I am not going to be here for long. I might as well enjoy life.''
''Do you know that you've been saying weird things lately? You keep saying you are not going to be here for long. Amala, you are not thinking of running away, right?''
''No! I'm just saying. You know, life is short, that's all… don't mind me.'' Amala touched her stomach. 'I'm hungry!''
''Jolene said she is bringing takeaway for you and Erica. As for me, I need to go back and work on some documents that I didn't complete.'' Rosa said and stood up.
''It's good to be your own boss. I really envy you. You get to leave work anytime and go back anytime.''
''Then, study well, pass your exam. Get into the university. Study law and become a lawyer, like me. You will be able to work on your own timing.'' Rosa kissed Amala's cheek before taking her bag.
''Bye!'' Amala waved her hand.
''Bye, sweetheart.'' Rosa kissed before going out.
After seeing Rosa off, Amala went to sit in front of Erica on the floor. ''What are you doing?''
'Aunt, about the man at the penthouse…''

''Don't you think we look alike? The colour of our eyes and the way we speak?'' Erica asked and Amala smiled.
''As expected. My niece is very smart. Well, why don't you leave that question to your mother? I bet she will have the right answer for you.''

''Time to knock off…'' Kiana said, standing to her feet.
''Guys, how about some team dinner? We haven't had that in a long time. We can invite the CEO. Since he came, he haven't had a welcome team dinner for him.'' Ernest stood up and spoke.
''That is actually not a bad idea.'' Carine added.
''I'm in too.'' Kiana said.
''Count me in if the CEO is going!'' Kathy spoke.
''Jojo, why don't you go in and invite the CEO? You are his secretary.'' Martin suggested and everyone turned to look at Jolene.
''I… I don't think it's a good idea. He might be busy…''
''Boss, are busy? We want to invite you for a team dinner.'' Kiana asked when she saw Kai coming out of his office.
''A team dinner?'' Kai looked at Jolene and nodded his head. 'Let's do it then!''
''Yes!'' Kathy smirked.
Martin sat in front of the meat with the tongs in his hands turning it as it roasted. Everyone was seated three against four on a square table and Kathy purposefully sat next to Kai in hopes of getting his attention. At his right side, Jolene also sat next to Kai.
Drinking and chatting, everyone relaxed.
'Do you do this often?'' Kai asked.
'We used to do it often when Chris was the CEO but since he left, we haven't had the chance to eat out together. Partly because we are all busy.'' Kiana replied.
''We don't mean that in a negative way, Boss. Since you came we've become more productive and we've gotten a lot of clients.'' Kathy spoke and everyone looked at her with awkward gazes.
''CEO, have some meat.'' Kathy took her chopsticks and picked some meat from the fire and placed it on Kai's bowl.
''Sorry but I don't eat meat from outside. I just came here so that I can drive Jolene back since we stay at the same place.'' Kai said and Jolene flushed.
''You lucky bitch!'' Carine muttered and hit Jolene's thigh.
''I wished I had taken the apartment Chris gave me at Muse Flats. I would have gone home with the CEO too.'' Kathy muttered and glared at Jolene.
