The five people started convulsing disorderly. I could hear and see their bones creaking and snapping, muscles tearing, skin rotting, and it was all rapidly healing at the same time.
Some of their skin turned red like the demon's, while others grew horns and wings on their body.
'I see, the serum is supposed to turn humans into demons.'
The five lab rats have long been knocked out, and white foam started coming out of their mouths. The other people who didn't get injected by the serum all tried to look away, while some already vomited from the horrendous sight before us.
The lab rats soon fully transformed into demons, albeit with arms twisted in weird ways and white foam in their mouths.
The experiment seemed to be over, so the ogre ordered the demons to check their vitality.
"No good boss. They seem to have... died."
The demon spoke in a fearful tone.
"Again! Hurry up with the serum, so the lord will praise us! Can't you fools do anything right!"
The displeased ogre shouted at the demons, before angrily looking at us.
"Useless humans! You can't even transform properly! If your bodies weren't so weak, then I would've gotten on the good side of the lord!"
In his fit of rage, the ogre punched one of the other living humans, completely turning his body into meat paste.
"Aaaahhh! I don't care anymore! Just kill everyone here, I'll deal with this another day!"
The ogre then left the room, leaving us alone with the demons.
"Well, no hard feelings. The orders are absolute."
The rest of the humans next to me all started panicking.
"Wait! Please have merc-"
"Stop, I have a famil-"
"~Snob~ Noo- nooo, don't do-"
~Clang~
When the demons started killing all the humans present in the room, a sudden clanging sound reverberated in the room.
"Huh?"
The confused demons looked at the last human alive. He had a poker face on and somehow reflected the sharp claws of a demon.
"Well, it's time to move."
~Splargh~ ~splargh~
The bodies of the demons exploded into dust and the blood splattered everything in the room, excluding Bryan.
'Time to go to the boss of this little project.'
Before I left the room, I searched through all of the human bodies to take their money. Although there were quite a few bodies, the only people who would sign up for a sketchy project like this were poor people, so I only got around 500 dollars.
Leaving the room, I went in the direction the ogre went to.
After walking for a bit, I saw a huge door at the end of the hallway. The door was big enough for an ogre to go through, so I assumed that the ogre went into that room.
Opening the huge door, I saw the ogre laying on a huge couch, lazily looking at the ceiling.
The ogre heard the door opening and looked at me.
"What! How are you still alive!"
The lazy look of the ogre completely transformed into fury as he sprinted at me.
Not giving the ogre a chance to do anything significant, I sprinted forward and swiftly broke both his legs and arms.
"Aaaahhh!"
The ogre screamed in pain, not understanding what just happened to him.
"Shhh, I'm sure you can take a little pain. You're not the leader of those demons for nothing, right?"
The ogre looked at me and grunted:
"Grrr, what do you want, human!"
"I want to ask a few questions first. How do you make humans help you kidnap other humans? I'm sure you don't just trust their word after threatening them."
The ogre stared at me for a few seconds before answering:
"We have a device which we can implant into humans. With those devices, we are able see what the humans that we implanted those devices with are doing and it can explode on command. That way, we are sure the humans can't disobey us or reveal our secrets."
"A useful item indeed. Where can I get those?"
"... In the drawer to our right."
Walking towards the drawer while still keeping my eyes on the ogre, I opened the drawer and grabbed the small devices.
"You said that I can explode and see with these things, right? How do I do that?"
"You have to activate the devices first. If the device is activated, I can use a phone-like thing to do the rest."
"Please give that phone-like thing to me. I will be needing it soon."
The ogre smirked at me with a disdainful look.
"It's in my pocket, but since my arms are broken, I can't reach it. You will have to grab it yourself to get it."
"Surely you're bluffing. Although broken bones may hurt a bit, I'm sure an ogre such as yourself won't mind the pain. Now throw the phone at me, before I murder you."
"Hah! You will kill me anyway. Why should I listen to you!"
"I won't murder you if you follow my orders. I plan on implanting a few of these bombs into your body and ask you to somehow give me money. I am in dire need of money, you see. It would be really helpful to me if you could order some of your demons to fetch money for me."
The smile on the ogre's face brightened.
"Alright, deal!"
The ogre threw a phone-like item at me and I caught it in my hands.
I then activated 5 of the 20 small devices in my hand and rapidly implanted them into the ogre.
"Aarrhhh... Hiiihii...Hahaha! Long live the lord!"
The ogre laughed like a maniac and immediately grabbed another phone-like thing out of his pockets. He clicked the button on the phone and everything went white.
~BOOM~
The devices on the ogre's body exploding, reaching the bombs still in my hand. They set off a huge chain reaction of explosions, destroying the whole building which we were currently standing in.

'That sure destroyed my whole plan to make money. I didn't expect him to be so loyal to his boss.'
Walking through the rubble of the building, I quickly left the vicinity before the police were going to show up to check out the huge explosion.
'Now I'm back to square one. Although I don't know how much money will matter after the Earth is taken over by demons, I'd like to have money for when the humans are still ruling the city I live in.'
I slowly walked through the streets of the city. When I finally reached my apartment, the sun had already gone down and the only thing that illuminated the dark streets were the lamp posts stationed around the city.
Opening the door and entering my room, I spotted a figure from my peripheral vision. The figure quickly dashed at me and attacked me with his claws.
Completely ignoring the incoming claws, I punched the figure, who was obviously a demon hiding in my apartment. The demon received my punch and died on the spot.
'Why was there a demon in my room? Am I being targeted or was it just a coincidence?'
After cleaning up the body and blood on the ground with a lot of paper towels, I turned on the news.
"Emergency! Demons have officially invaded the USA en masse! Everyone is advised to enter a bunker and buy weapons! When you see a demon, try to run away. If that isn't an option, then fight back with either your weapon or your fists if you don't have a weapon. Don't expect the government to be able to help you. The news will also shut down until further notice. That is all!"
'Well, on the bright side, I don't think anyone will mind me stealing some stuff from the stores. With this worldwide disaster going on, I'm assuming a lot of people will just steal stuff to be as safe as possible. I'll just go with the masses and take as much stuff as possible.'
After washing myself, I got out of my apartment and immediately spotted a huge crowd of people storming into the stores near my apartment.
Joining the thieves, I got as much food and water as possible. I then returned to my apartment and repeated this process until I had enough for a couple of months. I made sure to take as much canned food as possible, so I don't have to worry about my food spoiling.
'Since the restaurants definitely won't be open, I don't really have a reason to stay in the city anymore. I have enough food and water for a while, so I can just go back to the wilderness and survive in a little shack that I'll make in a day. I will miss the food Peter makes, but his restaurant isn't open and I don't think we are on speaking terms right now.'
After thinking about my plans for a bit, I went to sleep in a comfortable bed for what I believe to be the last time in a few months.

[A week later]
(Demon)
"Hey, why are we even patrolling this far into the forest? There is literally no chance someone sane will be here!"
"I don't know man! The orders from the higher-ups clearly said to explore as much different land as possible, so this forest definitely needs to be explored at some point."
As me and my patrolling buddy, who also happened to be a demon, complained about our task, we travelled further into this dense forest covered in tall trees and wild animals.
After another hour of walking through the forest, my patience finally reached its limit.
"Let's just stop walking! Nobody will be here any-"
The other demon cut me off by shouting in an astonished tone:
"Look! There is a shack there! What the hell is it doing here!"
Surprised by the sudden remark of the other demon, I looked at where he was pointing and widened my eyes when I saw the tiny shack in the middle of the forest.
"What! Is there actually some kind of hidden tribe here or something? Let's go take a look!"
"Wait a second! We have to report back first! Then we can-"
Before the other demon finished talking, he suddenly went silent. Confused, I looked back and saw his headless corpse on the ground.
"Wha-"
Before I could utter another word, I felt a huge force hitting the back of my head and instantly died.
"Well, that takes care of the rude intruders."
