Adeline's stomach voiced hunger again, and Reuven heard it growling loudly. When he attempted to offer Adeline his blood again, with her super speed she was already gone.
It was not a total surprise for Reuven as he already expected it yet; it did not mean they all waited for her to be back before they proceeded on the journey. It only meant that he knew deep down that Adeline would find them again.
With that same speed, Adeline carried on and at this moment, even in the blink of an eye, she was already in the far reaches of the eastern woods.
Her stomach still made that fatal growl. Her hunger was getting worse at the same velocity as her super speed and she lurked around for a while with only her eyes doing the searching.
Even with her super sense of smell, she could not detect any encroaching mammals or vipers or insects towards her. And that caused her some uneasiness if perhaps this moment was the end of her days on earth.
