Chapter 2 - 2. The Drink of Grand Elders and Emotions

"You know Cyrus ever since you were a kid, I have always hated that you are too selfish and you believed you can do anything anyhow you see fit," Adeline said while eating some sort of apple no one knows where she found it.

"Why am I better than you? I am a Vampire and I don't follow any rules. I do as I want. The city belongs to me. Maybe you should live like one of us sometimes." Cyrus said in a low voice.

When Adeline was getting closer to him nonetheless, he was smart enough to have calculated her move.

Suddenly, Adeline had become blurry to him and she had raised her hands for a fight against him. Since Cyrus saw this coming, he was able to dodge her claws which would have stung into his skin and at the same speed and strength, he fought back.

They were aggressive and frenzied: It was also a pile of shit as they sliced their skin open with their sharp claws like a cat and were biting each other continuously with their fangs.

Each time Cyrus was cut, his health had regenerated quickly but this was not so for Adeline that her health took longer and slowly before it could regenerate.

"You know, big sister, I will not hesitate to kill you but Mum will not be pleased is why I shall be merciful," Cyrus said.

At this instant, Adeline had already been injured and fallen to the ground and was waiting for her regeneration to happen.

But that was not all, Cyrus knelt just by her side and stung his claws into her skin as he caressed her heart which he could now touch.

As Adeline was enduring the pain Cyrus was causing her. He did not care. He only gave her a strict warning along with a deadly look.

"If this happens again dear sister, not even by the holy water, or by the sun that smith in the day, I shall kill you with my bare hands." He said slowly in an attempt at a wicked smile.

Once he rose, he carried Geraldine on his shoulder as if she had no weight and he sped off instantaneously.

Before Cyrus was able to defeat Adeline, Geraldine tried to escape. But she was held captive.

Geraldine was tied down to an object and each time she tried to set herself loose, she could not as the rope was, even more, tighter than what she had seen before.

It was in this strength that she had been until the end of the fight and as easily did Cyrus set her loose and carried her onto his shoulder.

He headed to their coven that the proclamation of the grand elder must come to pass and the symbol will become established as tradition.

When Cyrus was long gone, Adeline stood to her feet as her regeneration was completed. Since her strength was still lacking. She needed blood to gain strength but there were no living or dead animals around her.

Adeline was the only Vampire in Petra with a principle. She will not drink from a human, or turn them for her selfish craving. Her reason no one understood and this was even more of a reason she was always made fun of among her kind.

For a long time, what she always fed on was the blood from animals.

This was more of a reason she can not have the strength of the others or be fast as the others or heal quickly as the others even as she was the daughter of the grand elders.

When Cyrus arrived at the coven, every original and "turned" were already present and the only one who was not there was Adeline, whom they did not care if she came or not.

"Welcome! My son, the strength of Petra and the next ruler." Cora welcomed Cyrus the instant he set her eyes on him.

She also rose from her throne and walked toward him. When she got to him, she flickered her fingers on his face and the sign that she was proud of him glamour on her face.

Cora was a grand elder to the vampires but not entirely the head as her husband and father to both Adeline and Cyrus was the overall head who is also referred to as the grand elder of Petra.

Cora was tall, slim and fair in complexion. Her voice was tiny, it always seemed as though heaven flowed down to earth each time she had spoken to Theodore thus, he always felt like a happy child around her.

Her beauty cannot also be exaggerated as only a glance at her would sweep anyone off their feet.

Even though she was old; she has been living for more than two thousand years, and she still looked young as though she was only eighteen.

Adeline who was her daughter yet looked older than her all because Cora shall always drink the human blood both fresh and those they had for keeps.

"Each vampire who did not disobey to drink the blood will not age and not grow a wrinkle."

This was Cora's watchword and what gave her so much power as it had been believed that she had been alive since the bronze age and verily cannot be challenged by any of these vampires who had not lived longer than her.

if anyone looked down on her, she will tear them apart and devour them with her very sharp claws and dog teeth.

Theodore was the most powerful as he had been from the stone age. Much more than four thousand years he has been living.

He died and woke again in the past, His history told that there had been a time he purposely slept for a hundred years without opening his eyes.

He said he was bored of the earth and wished to lay in his eyes. The only assurance that he was still alive at that period was the pile of blood injected into his skin.

That only meant that even in his sleep, he must not be thirsty and even from sleep he would continue to drink.

"Arise and commence the feast!" Theodore announced as he lifted his hands.

With this strength, all the vampires lifted their voices higher and praised the name, Theodore.

One of them started to sing as each of them now begin to dance except for those in charge to tie Geraldine up to a pillar in the middle of the coven,

Even when Aponi was looking at her, the taste of Geraldine's blood was only what mattered to her.

This was a result of turning any human into a vampire. They will not remember their loved ones and the thirst for blood will only be their craving.

Only the originals could think above the blood, know their environment and process emotion.

"For ages, we have sacrificed to drink blood so that this will create a symbol of our rule. The city belongs to the originals. the turns who are pawns serve us and the human we feed upon. The birds fly with our permission and the insect shall pee with our consent. For this, humans shall always be underneath our rule and unto them, we will do as we see fit."

Theodore addressed the coven with an empty cup in his hand as they began the feast of drink.
