A/N: This chapter was actually pretty fun to write, because Irene isn't Valier so I don't need to think too hard about how she fights. Or if her attacks are simple. She kinda just powers through stuff, it lacks grace but it's respectable.
And like I said, it takes less thinking.
Irene Pendragon POV:
Valier's stomach was pierced by the blonde man, the man grabbed him by the face and slammed him into the ground. Valier's guts were literally spilling out, as he was slammed into the ground over and over. The man then pierced Valier's chest with his hand and literally pulled his heart out before crushing it.
"You know, I was aiming for either his core or his 'seed.' But I suppose this works just as well."
The man let go of Valier, and let him plop onto the ground. I rushed past him and went to Valier's side. Strangely enough, the man didn't do anything. I picked him up and held him to my chest, tears flowing out of my eyes.
"Don't worry, I'll let you hold him for a bit, he's dead anyways. And these eyes of mine don't lie, my eyes have been honed and trained, and there aren't any signs of life in his body. His blood isn't even flowing."
I froze over the wounds in his stomach and chest, in hopes a miracle from God would take place.
'Ice Empress lasts half an hour at best, and of that half an hour, I only have around eleven minutes and... 6 or so seconds? So, if I want to avenge either of them, I'll have to kill him now.'
My tears began to freeze, in fact, my blood cells began to freeze.
'Lower. Bring it down even lower.'
I slowly brought my temperature lower and lower, the moisture in the air began to freeze. The foremost layer of my skin hardened and solidified and became more durable. My skin and face were rather pale now, but it was to be expected.
Blood seeped from my mouth, and when I spat it out, the earth around it froze.
"Don't put your internal organs under that much stress, I'm going to need to harvest at least your heart, like I did with your sister."
My heart skipped a beat. I thought I heard him wrong, so I decided to stand up and make my way to him.
"Back then, you were probably too slow to see me move, but before vaporizing her, I stored her heart in my Dimensional Ring. I'm sure you're aware of it, but Dimensional Rings keep things in their original state until the item is taken out or the ring is destroyed. And you see, I'm a Rune Bearer"
He extended his arm, and suddenly, black markings began to inscribe themselves on his arm.
"It's a pretty shitty ability, I can use necromancy, but only on one target. And I need to have been the one who killed the target, and even after that, there's a chance they won't obey me. On top of that, there's a chance of failure. But it still has its uses."
The man dashed towards me and kicked my liver, I was too shocked to react, and as a result, was blown away. I watched as the man picked up Valier and placed Iris' heart where his heart used to be, he then began healing Valier's body. His healing was rather amazing for a battle oriented mage. However, many of Valier's wounds remained, but despite that, the holes in his heart and stomach were no longer there.
The man placed his hand on Valier's chest, the Rune convulsed, however, nothing happened.
"It failed? Well shit, I was going to have Valier kill you, but it is what it is-"
Before he could finish his sentence I leapt towards him, I reeled my arm back and coated my knuckles in Dragon Scales. My fist connected with the man's body, and a huge shockwave was formed.
'That had to have at least harmed him, after all, he was off guard.'
But then, I felt a hand wrap around my wrist. The man was fine, although some of his clothes had been shredded to bits.
"All you did was tear off my cloak, even a child wouldn't flinch at something like that."
I ignored what he said, I reeled my arm back and pounded at his stomach, my scales worked rather well as knuckle dusters. Each blow brought the man's internal temperature even lower, causing harm to his organs. However, he countered by circulating Mana of the Fire attribute throughout his body, neutralizing my next attacks.
Unlike Valier, my durability was my strong point, meaning the damage I took was rather minimal due to my highly defense oriented capabilities.
'Meaning that I can afford to take a few hits.'
I aimed my sword at the point where his shoulder was connected to his torso, however, he somehow predicted my attack. His eyes were glowing, and he calmly redirected every single blow I sent towards him. When both my arms were out of the way, he sent a palm strike to my stomach, shattering the layer of ice over my skin and sending me flying back.
"That Frost Skin isn't a bad party trick."
He was insulting my technique, but I didn't care, especially considering what was behind him. My eyes widened when I looked at what was in front of me, the man also turned around and he squinted his eyes, as if checking if what he was seeing was real.
Ice Empress began to wear off, and my body's temperature began to return to normal. If we fought right now, I'd die. But the man didn't give two shits about me right now, he was more interested in something else.
"What the fuck? How are you alive? Or rather, can you even be considered alive?"
A/N: Ha, another cliff hanger for yall
E/N: As a Texan, I'm disappointed…
A/N: Well now you're a disappointed Texan.
