Chapter 18 - Chapter 18- The fate is on peak!

Qian Jin was accompanied by Sheng on his way back. He was continuously making calls here and there. He was talking in a simple language but neither the driver nor Sheng was able to understand what he was exactly talking about. Or maybe they simply had no interest in his talks.

"Old He, From now onwards you will be under the direct command of Mr. Qian," Sheng whispered sitting in the front passenger seat.

Old He nodded. However, they had attracted the attention of their boss. Jin furrowed his brows and asked, "Are you the one who was fired from the Bai family?"

The driver old He panicked and stuttered, "Yes, Master!"

Jin shook his head and gave a faint smile as he dialed another number.

"Hello! James?"

"I wanted you to look into William's issue and help him."

"Don't tell him, I asked you!"

While Jin was talking to James on the phone, Sheng received a message which made his eyeball enlarge and his jaw dropped.

He glanced an anxious look at Qian Jin who was about to hang up the phone.

"Okay! Deal!" He said and put down his phone and asked, "What's Wrong? Sheng?"

Sheng forwarded the message and said nothing.

Jin received the notification and his forehead wrinkled as he opened the file.

"The poetess who used to keep in touch with your grandfather was found with Mr. Lin Xie," Sheng said leaning back in his seat.

Jin scrolled through the photos which could not be made more realistic than they were. He sneered and said, "People have three faces. This woman doesn't deserve to be called a poetess."

"She has no principles."

Old He's ear grew bigger when he heard the name, Lin Xie. It was because of him that a cheerful soul like Dongmei was ousted by her family.

"Sir, please play the video." Sheng requested in a horror. He had only sent Jin selective photos.

The video started playing and Jin already knew what it was about. He watched it with extreme seriousness.

It was a CCTV clip of the basement parking of a mall where Jin was attacked before he met Qian Ying.

He knew what was happening but the end was new to him. He saw after he left beating up the gangsters a woman arrived in a blue evening dress wearing black gloves. She spoke something to them and then kicked the leader of the gangster.

After a while, she shot them down one by one and blew the end of her gun.

The camera caught her face while she was leaving it was the poetess, Su Manning.

Sheng then send the audio and said, "Master, We have confirmed it."

Jin played the video and heard a woman's voice threatening another person on the call.

The last words she spoke were "Once Qian Jin dies, his wealth will be in my hands. I have already prepared the documents. All I want is his fingerprint and eye scan to open the Safe in that resort."

Jin was now sure she was the person who sent the gangsters to kill him or make him half-dead.

Jin switched off his phone and leaned back on his seat and closed his eyes, "Who would have thought that her innocence hid so much hatred."

He spoke in a deep cold voice that had a pinch of disappointment.

The two men kept quiet and a moment later, Jin spoke again in a tired and exhausted tone, "Ayeee…Old He, What kind of person your miss is like?"

He trembled before answering, he had signed a contract that he won't reveal any information about Bai Dongmei to anyone.

But he gave a second thought that he got this job by providing information about the condition of the Bai Family.

"No one in the world can compare to my young lady."

"I have seen her grow up in front of my eyes."

"Despite being locked up in the mansion, she never complained."

"She would often ask me if the world outside looked the same as in the dramas."

"By mentioning the drama, I must tell you. She loves watching dramas and reading those online novels."

"She is very delicate however her fighting skills surpassed our guard's."

"You don't know, how strictly she was raised by our Madam."

"Just by looking at her shadow, one will get so much comfort that those pills don't have."

"Just a glance of her comforting eyes makes the stress disappear."

"I really regret treating her poorly."

Jin's face tensed up at the last sentence. He opened his eyes and asked, "What do you mean?"

"I was asked to take her to the Welfare house of the Bai Family."

"But I regret attempting to take her there."

"If I had been in my senses and refused to take her outside the mansion."

"She would still be here with us." He said.

Jin's eyes widened, "Is she dead?" He asked anxiously.

Old He laughed and said, "No Master, She was been taken away by a rich woman she saved in front of a hospital."

Jin took a breath of relief and said, "You almost gave me a heart attack."

Sheng asked, "Master, I guess Su Manning is now planning to break the safe forcefully."

"She has been hiring top hackers from last week." He added.

Jin looked outside the window and answered, "Let's go there this week."

Sheng nodded and got busy making the schedule.

….

"Mumu, you are still not eating properly," Jin asked the little boy who wasn't daring to meet his eyes.

Jin was mad at his cousin and picked him up in his arm and said, "Look! How light as a feather you are!"

"If I take you there, You will be blown away by the winds."

Mumu pouted and said, "If I eat the dinner, will you take me?"

Jin threw a big smile and said, "I have no reason not to take you then."

He dropped him at the dinner table and asked them to bring the meal.

Both of them were eating silently when Mumu asked while drinking his milk through a steel straw, "Brother? The girl on your wallpaper….."

"Is she a cartoon or a real person?"

Jin was flabbergasted and stopped chewing his food. He soon started coughing.

He gulped down a glass of water in one breath and asked, "How come you saw that?"

Mumu took a bite of bread and said, "That's not important!"

"Why have you laminated her photo and always carry it with you?"

Jin was stunned and asked, "Again, who told you all this? Where did you see the photo?"

The little boy Mumu said nothing after that. Jin asked him again, "How do you know?"

The little boy replied hesitantly, "The servant who does the laundry said I should ask you."

No sooner did he hear him say that than he started checking his pockets anxiously.

He called the laundry man and asked, "Where is the photo?"

The guy before him was shaking from top to bottom, "I kept it in your wallet secretly."

Jin immediately looked up in his wallet and found the photo of that same pretty and innocent girl.

"You are fired," Jin said after checking if the photo was alright.

"But…." He tried to speak but Jin had no room for negotiation.

"Mumu! Sleep early or I will leave you if you don't get ready on time." He said coldly putting back the photo in his pocket and continuing eating.

He did not bother how the guards dragged the laundry man.

Mumu was too scared to speak or eat. He finished his milk and ran up to his room. His heart was racing at the thought of how furious his cousin got. It has been two months since he was living with Jin. However, he was still not used to it.

That may be because Jin was hardly at home. As far as Mumu remembered, Jin only ate with him four times ever since they came back to Dongguan. Qian Mu had requested several times to show him around the new place. But Jin was busy with business affairs.

Qian Mu had started to realize that just like his father, his cousin also had no time for him. In the end, he was left all alone in the mansion. He hated his caretakers, he hated all the servants. All he wanted was a family.

A family-like 'Ninja Hattori' had. A family-like 'Doraemon' and a family-like 'Shin Chan' have. His friends in London always envied him. How he was dropped and picked up by a Chauffeur. How that Chauffeur drove five different cars every time he came. They envied him for having cool gadgets that were made for his protection and eased his life in school.

However, Mumu was never satisfied. He had no interest in all those luxuries, he wanted a mother who could make simple sandwiches for him as his other classmates brought. He wanted a father who could drive him to school and pinky promised to pick him up after school.

And then forget he was supposed to and his mother would arrive instead of him with an apologetic smile. He wanted his friends to come over his house not because he was rich and had cool toys and snacks but because they genuinely wanted to play with him.

He was yearning for a family who could keep him warm when he felt too cold after playing in the snow. However, born into a rich family became a disadvantage to his ideal life.
