Oberon Pride's ( Raphael's father) POV.
I walked into my dinning room, only to find an unexpected guest on my seat nipping on my untouched food.
" Oberon Prides, come-come take a seat," he urge on a cold smile on his face. I know why his appeared again and it's not good.
" Lord Ra, it's good to see you after all this time," I said walking towards him but taking a seat further away from him; making him roll his eyes at me.
" You know I'd never harm my future father in law," his snicker sent cold chills down my spine. " Where's Skhemmaria?" He asked getting right to the point. I cleared my throat not willing to disclose her location. I don't want to give my daughter away to him manly because his evil; in my eyes. Many in these dimensions still see him as a hero, but after what he did to Sekhment I'd never see him as such.
" Oberon where's your daughter?" He asked again. My jaw clenched without much thought I stood from my seat.
" I will not tell you where she is! I will not let you do to her what you did to your own," The sun outside got brighter and I prayed to our solar deity for mercy.
" You will give me your daughter, or I'll surely fry everyone in this dog house you call a castle!" My heart broke, my duty to protect or my baby girl? She's only 316 years old, giving her to him is like sending her to an early grave.
" I know you've only had hatred for me Oberon but this is for everyones good. I mean no harm to her, am your forefather of course. The things that happened with Hathor and Sekhment weren't as planned and you know I regretted it. Though without that simple mistake your kind wouldn't be here. I know you love your great grandmother with all your heart and the stories she told still linger in your mind but am her father as much as am your own and Skhemmaria," he said getting up. " You have until your son's true mate gets here or you'll regret it."
" Is that a threat?"
" Oh no it's a warning. The future holds your death and soon Anubis would be dinning with you," he laughed and disappeared from sight.
My heart was pounding hard in my chest as stayed glued on my spot looking at my reflection in the mirror. The encounter was a century ago and the flush back was more terrifying than the real encounter, for my son has found a mate. " Oberon?" My wife called out from the bedroom. " Oberon are you okay?" She was now standing on the ensuite bathroom door as I clenched my fist on the sink. I shake my head no and she envelopes me in a loving embrace; cradling my head to her chest.
" His found a mate," I sigh feeling the fear taking over. Fear of Anubis my wife's great grandfather. Brother of Horus. My wife and Brandon are related, she came from the goddess Kebechet though she's more jackle than serpent; but the qualities of the goddess linger in her. We royals can't bare an heir or child with just anyone, it's both a blessing and a curse. My genome is a hundred percent dominant and choosy compared to others of our kind. There other things that separate us royals from locals which are called abilities. They were given by God Ra as blessings but became a curse in a way. These were different from gifts, gifts which each lion has. The oldest of us holds a gift and one ability.
Only a true mate, what ever she may be can give us children. There's something inside a true mate that makes it so, it makes them different from others namely the ones we bond with. The legend of our kind goes back a long way starting with Maahes; but that's a story for another day.
" Anubis wouldn't harm you," she cooed.
" No he wouldn't harm you, he'd surely harm me." She giggled before kissing my forehead.
" He'd never harm someone I love," she squeezed me before pulling away. " Am sure Ra meant something else."
" If that's the case then my daughter is the one to kill me," and that doesn't make any sense. " Skhemmaria isn't cable of such," she laughed dryly knowing she can be.
______________
After a massage I was feeling good enough to go do my duties. I sat on my throne my wife beside me as we listened and try to sort out issues in our kingdom.
" They tried to break into the sacred chamber again your highness," general Bust said holding in one hand reports of the incident. She walked up to the throne and handed it to me. I read through only curiosity and worry clouding my mind.
" What do they want in there? There's nothing there but ancient artefact," my wife voiced out my thoughts.
" We don't know but we have the place heavily guarded," I nod. " Anyone who seems suspicious, kill them." I said motioning for the finance sector.
" Oh, Oberon you never change," I looked up and saw Ra seating on a throne in midair. He was grinning and it made me feel sick seeing him here. I got up and he did the same walking down on invisible stairs. When everyone realized that a god is in their mideast they immediately got on their knees in acknowledgment.
" Lord Ra," I bow my head getting on one knee.
" Arise," he commanded. " Where's Skhemmaria?!!" His voice boomed shacking the ground.
" No!" I shouted not willing to give her to him. He laughed, it was pure evil in my ears. " Oh, this time am in control. Get me the princess. NOW!"
" No! Am sorry but I can't let you take my daughter," I stood from my position clenching my fist.
" Fine, the prepare for the destruction of your people."
" No don't," I can't pick between them it's impossible. My duty as the king or my duty as a father. All my subjects are under my care, if I choose my daughter my people die and if I choose my people my daughter will be taken from me. " Tick tock, time is running out", he said sounding impatient.
" Then so be it."
