Chapter 57 - SUSPICIONS AND DISBELIEFS

The air was cold and the entire mansion was silent. Jane swung her arms carelessly as she walked through the empty halls. She had been laying on her bed, bored out of her mind, when one of the guards came to inform her that Maria had returned.

To say Jane was excited to finally see her best friend for the first time in almost three months would be an understatement. It was almost as though Jane had lost her best friend again.

Maria was barely home; she hardly talked, so phone calls were as good as useless. It hurt Jane beyond belief that their communication might as well have been non-existent; they used to talk every day when they were in college.

Now look at them.

Jane stopped in front of Maria's office and knocked softly. She frowned when she got no response in return. Jane knocked again, but there was still no response. The purple-haired girl turned the cold handle and opened the door to reveal nothing but darkness.
