Her eyes parted to meet a bright light. She shielded her eyes from the blinding light as she sat up. Her eyes looked in every direction, only to find herself surrounded by a plain white space.
Where was she?
Her eyes fell on a familiar mop of silky blonde hair. She could feel her heart stop its beat. There was no way the person she was looking at was real.
"Mom?"
She felt her heart freeze as the blonde woman turned around, her blue eyes falling on her. The woman frowned as she looked down at her, "Who are you?"
It was like all the blood had drained from her body. She rose to her feet and proceeded to walk closer to her mother, "Mom, it's me!"
"I do not know you."
Those words were all it took to break her to pieces. Her eyes stung as she suddenly found it hard to breathe. The bile in her throat became heavy, and so did the weight on her chest.
