Chapter 14 - Chapter Fourteen

Ethan's Pov

Nina's sudden expression of shock at the mention of that witch girl's name only confirmed my thoughts about her.

That damn bitch!

I just knew it, the moment I laid eyes on her.

I knew she had ulterior motives for coming here, getting close to my son, and feeding him with lies about being sent by the oracle. No one has ever had the chance to see or speak with the Oracle, she never reveals herself to anyone.

Oh, I will so enjoy squeezing the life out of her miserable body when I lay my hands on her.

"Okay, that's enough questions, we need to find them now!" I say, letting out a loud growl of annoyance, and turning to leave the room when Nina's voice stops me in my tracks.

"And where do you think you're going?"

"Oh! I'm sorry if you didn't get my brief explanation. So I'll just come again, let's go search for my son and please no more questions about the girl. Hmmm?" I said, turning to see Nina staring at me with an irritated expression all over her face.

" So you mean we'll just go around the forest searching aimlessly for them like you both did before? huh?... What a suggestion from an Alpha warrior." She said in a mocking tone, crossing her arms and looking at me disdainfully.

I could feel my blood boiling up and I clenched my fist tightly trying not to lose it right here as anger started to swell inside me. I felt like I was about to explode as I started shaking.

Gieon must have seen this because he looked at me worriedly and spoke up quickly, " Okay that's enough both of you! Can you two just pretend to get along for this once while also trying at putting your emotions in check? Jason needs us now and we need to put our heads together and save this situation."

He says in an attempt to cool off the heated tension between me and Nina.

Taking in a deep breath and exhaling loudly, I closed my eyes and tried to cool down the steam in me before speaking, " So what do we do then?"

"I'll need some strands of his hair to perform a locator spell," Nina says, sighing.

"And how are we sure that getting you strands of his hair would help us find him?" I ask, glaring at her, making sure she gets how serious I am about this matter.

"Because that's part of the requirements for the spell, which allows me to trace someone using a small amount of my powers. None of which you would know or even begin to understand because you don't have magic." She replies sharply, glaring back at me as well.

This woman sure knows exactly what buttons to push to get me angry; her words, her looks, her attitude. All these things make her seem to be more powerful than she really is.

And I can't wait for this little game to end!

My son needs us; he needs my guidance.

"Alright guys, stop bickering, you'll give me a headache. Gosh..." Gieon says exasperatedly, rubbing his temples as he closes his eyes in an attempt to take a deep breath and calm himself down.

His outburst seems to trigger something in us as we both drop whatever argument we were having immediately and stand quietly opposite each other. After another deep breath, Gieon continues, " So we don't have much time to waste here, I'll go get his hairbrush in his room, while Nina gets the other items that are needed. Okay?"

We both nod in reply before Gieon leaves the room, leaving both of us alone.

A thick silence filled the air as the sound of our breathing filled the space. I kept my glare locked on Nina but her gaze didn't waver too, as usual. Her poker face is very good, I almost admire her strength.

After a few minutes,  Nina breaks the silence, " You should go along with him, your presence here would only be a distraction to my work." She said coldly, giving me a fake sweet smile.

I scoff, " Oh, believe me, it will most certainly be a distraction, trust me."

Nina raises an eyebrow at this statement as if challenging me. But I just stare at her without saying anything else. After a few seconds, she finally gives up, taking her eyes away from me before I turn and walk out of the room, following Gieon.

*********

It wasn't long before Nina finished up with the spell and soon after we were out in the woods, following a blue light that led us through the forest, going ahead of us.

We continued walking for a couple of hours, the only sound that fills the air is our footsteps echoing around the oak forest. The trees surrounding us looked so dark, yet there was still enough sunlight filtering through to illuminate the area a bit.

Eventually, we reached a part of the forest that seemed to have been abandoned. It was quiet and creepy, nothing was moving but the leaves rustling in the wind. Everything appeared deserted aside from a small pond with a small waterfall falling off of the edge.

And all of a sudden the blue light disappears stopping us dead in our tracks.

I looked around, searching the area for my son but he was nowhere around, and I couldn't even pick his scent.

Confused, I looked to Gieon." There is no reason why the spell would suddenly stop if it hasn't completed its mission right?" But it didn't seem like Gieon was up for any sort of explanation judging by his expressionless face.

Turning to face Nina who also carried no facial expression, I asked." I thought you said it would lead us to Jason?!"

All of a sudden, a loud animalistic growl came from behind us. We turned around only to see my son standing there with his head bowed down, his dark locks covering his face.

Slowly he lifted his head and glanced up briefly at Nina and Gieon before looking my way. His eyes sparkled with a  dangerously glint in them as both green and amber swirled in each other like the ocean waves and his fangs started forming on the sides of his lips.

"Leave." He growled coldly, his voice laced with a venomous tone.
