The next day, Olive and I were asked to have breakfast in my room before she left for school. The moment Amber left us, I was demonstrating to Olive my magic and she was watching me with smiles. It was kind of nice to share my magic with someone who wasn`t a witch but was someone I felt that I could trust. I was in the middle of levitating our cups when the door to my room opened without invitation. Both Olive and I moved without thinking and caught the glasses before they hit our trays.
Rachel stepped in with an arched brow," What were you two pups up to?"
Olive and I exchanged blank faces before lowering our glasses. Olive cleared her throat," Toasting to another glorious morning?"
Rachel put a hand on her hip and gave her stern look while I drank my juice, "I wonder how you can lie to the human population of your school for so many years yet be unable to lie at home to the adults."
I snickered as Olive shot me a dirty look. I shrugged as Rachel sighed," Never mind. You have school and don`t forget to get a list of after school clubs for Lia."
Olive nodded as she stood from my table and wiped her mouth with a napkin. Waving good bye to me, she took off. I put down my juice and moved back from my tray before standing from my chair.
"Let`s go, he`s here already," Rachel said with a smile. I nodded and turned to pick up a jacket to go over my tank top. Olive had given it to me because it had the picture of a Pokémon ball. It was grey and but cool. I loved it.
As we made our way out, I caught up with Rachel, "Already? I thought you called him last night. How did he get here from Europe so quick?"
This guy must have been superfast.
"Actually he was already in the country so it didn`t take long for him to come," Rachel explained, she shot me a grin over her shoulder," In fact, according to Marcus, he was already on his way to this town."
I arched a brow, "Really? Why?"
Rachel shrugged, "Marcus didn`t ask."
"Wouldn`t the Alpha of America be mad that he`s here?" I questioned. From what Olive had told me Apex Alpha`s, they were the Alpha`s of the Alpha`s and they tended to be territorial if another Alpha set foot on their land without permission or a memo.
Why was this Alpha here so casually?
"No, he was invited here by the Alpha and we just managed to catch him before he left."
"Oh," I said.
When we reached the Marcus` study, Rachel wished me luck and left me. As soon as she was gone, the door to the study open with Marcus standing by the door.
"Come in Lia," Marcus said.
As soon as I stepped in, I flinched at the level of power inside the room. Marcus had opened the door and there was another guy on the chair behind Marcus 'desk. It looked like he had curly brown hair and he was studying his phone screen intently.
"Go on Lia," Marcus said as he ushered me further into the room before he spoke up, "Peter, this is Thalia Dimant, the new wolf I was telling you about."
The man looked up and he paused. I cocked my head to the side as an image flashed in my mind`s eye. A red coat or jacket. The smell of forest and snow. The air around me went cold before I was back in the study.
The man was now in front of Marcus` desk. I stepped back in shock. How did he move so fast?
Marcus was beside me, "This is Peter Roterri, the Leader of the European wolves, "I turned to him with a questioning glance," He`s been kind enough to come here to help with your…situation."
I looked back at the Alpha who now had his hands tucked behind his back and was watching me, "How old are you?"
I hesitated but then answered, "I just turned Seventeen."
"Very young then," He deduced.
The hell?
"Not that young," I corrected him," I can still walk to the Mall by myself if I want."
"But you can`t drive or pay taxes or live on your own," He shot back.
My mouth moved wordlessly. Did he just insult me? I turned to Marcus, "I thought he was here to help me."
Before Marcus could answer, I heard Peter made a tusking sound, I turned back to him as he watched us, "More so to observe. Not to help."
I flinched and fold my arms, "Oh brilliant, that`s just great!"
I sighed and shook my head as Marcus stepped close to me and spoke, "Peter has experience, he`ll be able to help your situation against the council."
I pursed my lips before looking up at Peter, "So you`ve dealt with other half werewolves and half witches right?"
Peter titled his head to the side and frowned, "Not particularly."
"What does that mean?!" I demanded. This guy wasn't making any sense.
"Were you born a witch?" Peter said as he approached me and circled me as if I was some kind of sculpture. I follow him as he turned and answered, "Yes."
"And how do you know? Did your parents tell you?" He questioned me when he stopped circling me. From the corner of my eye I saw that Marcus had taken a seat at window and was watching us.
"Yes, there`s even a home birth video, ask them for it!" I snapped back at Peter. What was this guy`s deal?
Peter made a humming sound before he glanced at Marcus, "When was she bitten?"
"Last week. She woke up during the weekend and she`s been her getting up to speed," Marcus answered," We`re trying to send her to school on Monday."
"Classes to distract her," Peter mused," Any episodes? Has her wolf made any appearance?"
"No."
Another knock on the door had the three of us looking to the door. I arched a brow when another man stepped in without Marcus or Peter saying anything. He was dressed in full black and struck me as someone who was part of the military.
Peter welcomed him, "Richard, you`re late."
"Sorry," The man, Richard said," I had to finalize the arrangements."
Peter nodded then turned to me, "This is Richard, my second in Command and my most trusted friend," Peter then gestured for him to step forward. Richard bowed his head in greeting while I frowned at him. Marcus noticing my face asked me what was wrong.
"Richard, you were at the Mall? "I asked him as I remembered that he was that guy I had bummed into, "The day of my attack?"
Richard met Peter`s eye over my shoulder before nodding," Yes, I was out with my nephew, perhaps you know you him? Elijah."
"He`s nice to me," I answered curtly. I then wanted to ask why he said the word Akila when he saw me but Peter interrupted me, "He has to be. Any one in your situation has to be handled with care."
"I`m not fragile," I snapped.
"Then why do you keep snapping?"
"Sir!" Richard exclaimed and I grumbled to myself. If this was the guy who was going to observe me? Just kill me now.
The sound of the door opening again had me turning and wishing it was Rachel who had come to rescue me. Instead, it was a red head woman who was dressed in dark blue suit. She was smiling until her gaze landed on my face.
"You?! How are you – "
"Elizabeth!" Peter hissed and I jumped with a cry. The amount of power he had put into that made me flinch in pain because I wasn`t expecting it. Marcus moved to me but Peter growled again making everyone freeze. I shook my head as way to get my bearing.
"I am sorry, my Lord," the woman whispered. I shot her look. What was her problem? I didn`t look that bad. She didn`t need to look shocked.
"Thalia, this is Elizabeth, she is part of my entourage and a member of my pack, "Peter said. I noticed that Elizabeth `s face had gone from pale white to pink in a matter of seconds. What was that all about? "Richard, Elizabeth, this is Thalia Diamont, a new wolf who is also a witch."
"She was Turned and she still magic?" Elizabeth asked slowly as if she couldn`t believe what she was hearing. Heck even I still couldn`t believe it.
"She had magic before she was turned and now they are back," Richard answered. I blinked. How did he know that? He just walked in. He couldn`t possibly know that I was a witch when he ran into me at the Mall.
"That`s impossible," Elizabeth commented.
"We are here to observe her and if she isn`t a threat to us," Peter said which made me freeze," We will vouch for her against the Witch Council so that they may allow her to live as one of us."
