Chereads / The Reincarnated Alpha's Mate / Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

After my final class, I headed for the principal's office since I had failed to see her in the morning and yesterday afternoon. Olive told me that she signed me up for a little club that she thinks will interest me.

When I got the office, the secretary, a nice lady called Julie, let me in. I kind of liked her because even though she looked exhausted, she still mustered a smile and led me to the office door before letting me in. I think I should bring her lunch or something good the next time I visit the office.

The Principal was a familiar looking woman who was scanning her monitor thoughtfully when Julie let me in.

As I took my seat, I felt like I knew her from somewhere because some about her mannerisms seemed so familiar. She was wearing a dark purple pant suit and her hair was down.

"So, Miss Thalia Dimants, from this letter that Marcus gave me, you`ve been homeschool your whole life till now, right?" She asked as held up a few papers.

I nodded as I scanned her desk. There were papers everywhere and her computer. She had a paper weight that was of a pig with wings. What caught my eye was the name plate; Rowen Sanchez. Sanchez. That name sounded so familiar but it was still out of reach from my mind. I then looked at the shelves behind her where there were only three photo frames. One of them caught my eye.

Rowena, the principal was standing next to Dr. Rachel. They were both at some kind of party. They stood arm in arm and were smiling. They looked really alike.

"You`re related to Dr. Rachel?" I blurted out with thinking.

The Principal stopped in her tracks and smiled," Yes, she`s my twin."

"You don`t look alike," I told her.

"Well, we`re Fraternal twins so it would make sense for us not to look alike," Principal Rowena explained.

I winced. I forgot about that, "Right, sorry. That was kind of insensitive."

Luckily she didn`t look like she was offended by my comment. She smiled and continued to scan the papers in her hand, "It`s okay." She looked up at me with an expectant smile," So, how were your classes today?"

My first thought was my disaster in History and Chemistry Class. I then pushed my little incidents far from my mind`s eye and planted a smile on my face, "Good."

Principal Rowena arched a brow at me," You don`t believe that."

It wasn`t a question. It was a statement. She knew I was hiding something.

My smile dropped and so did my shoulders," It was a bit okay. The classes, I mean."

"But something else bothered you today?"

I nodded," And honestly, I just want to forget."

Principal Rowen studied me for a moment and I resisted the urge to squirm. I didn`t like it when people studied me. She then spoke, "Anything you need to tell my sister about?"

I frowned. Did I need to tell Rachel now?

Maybe later.

"Maybe?" I answered slowly.

Principal Rowen nodded, "Well, when you make up your mind, please see her," She then put the papers in her hand in a drawer under her desk as she spoke, "I find that most of the pack pups go to her not just for matters of the body but of the heart and mind as well."

She closed the drawer and sat up straight with her hands clasped in front of her. Seeing her posture change made me sit straighter as well. I nodded, "I will."

"And what of your club activity?"

I bit my lower lip and sighed, "Olive said that she signed me up for something that will interest me so I`ll be heading there after talking to you."

I had already made peace with that at lunch before my classes so that was fine.

"Good, it`s important for your transition to go smoothly," Principal Rowen stated sternly as she leaned back in her chair and addressed me," I`m aware of your situation and I know it will be difficult adjusting but it is imperative that you do. If the witches see that you can blend with us, you will be allowed to live. That is why adjusting to school and life with a pack must be your priority."

"I know, Marcus told me."

"My sister will be doing her part and I have been instructed by my Alpha to make sure you survive academically."

"I`ll survive, I promise," I swore to her.

Principal Rowena nodded. She then asked me about my mode of transport for this afternoon and I told her that Olive and the others would be helping me. Once we sorted out another couple of things, I was free to go off to my club activity.

On the way to meet Olive, I heard someone call out for me. Turning, I frowned when I saw no one behind me in the deserted hallway. I faced forward and saw that no one was there.

"Thalia," A woman whispered in my ear, making me jump and scan the hallway. I backed up against the white wall of the hallway and tried not scream. Those voices. They were in my head yesterday and earlier.

"Run, Thalia, run to the forest," A feminine voice growled.

"Don`t run Thalia, you need to be in school," Another woman`s voice spoke up.

"But there are so many voices, stupid girls and humans who make us angry," The other voice hissed back. I ran for the nearest girl`s bathroom and bolted inside. I was happy to find the stalls empty so I took the last one and locked the door. I slammed the lid shut and sat down with my hands massaging my head. Taking a deep breath, I pleaded," Whoever you both are. Stop, please."

"We`re trying to help you," Both voices said.

"Then stop talking," I pleaded.

"You need me," They both tossed back and I winced at the power behind their words.

"Thalia," Another voice called out but this time, I knew who it belonged to. When I opened my eyes, a shimmer of glitter was seen behind Oracle who appeared in my lap.

"Oracle," I whispered and picked up my familiar before hugging her gently. Her purring was assuring and welcoming as her cheek rubs. Sometimes when we were both in a happy mood, she`d rub her head against my cheek during a hug. This was her doing it again and it made me sad. When I released her, she reached up and bat my cheek with her paw," Are you going to cry?"

I shook my head," No. I don`t want to."

"Good. Be strong, little witch."

I sniffed, "I'm not a witch."

I had to deny that part. My powers coming back had to be hidden. But this was Oracle, my familiar. I couldn`t lie to her, right?"

"Yes, you are," Oracle insisted as she rolled her green eyes," That`s why I`m still able to contact to you. To still appear in this plane."

"You can`t tell anyone," I told her.

"Your family will need to know," Oracle told me.

I winced, "The Alpha and the other Apex Alpha. They said I can`t tell anyone."

Oracle lowered her head, "They are right, but your family loves you. They would take your secret to their graves if they have to."

I shook my head, "I don`t want anyone dying for me."

"Then you were born to the wrong family," Oracle told me as she reached up again to pat my nose," Dimants are a family of witches who die for each other. They would move planes of existence just to protect the ones they love or call their family."

I snorted and arched a brow at my feline familiar, "You just joined my family after I was born, how do you know that?"

Oracle`s tail flickered behind her and I felt like if she could shrug, she would in that moment but all she could do was flick her tail, "Spirits watch and they talk. Even deities."

"Deities?" I frowned and then the definition hit me. I leaned close to her, "You mean Gods? They`re real?"

"If you had studied your magic history instead of the practical stuff, you`d know," Oracle lightly scolded me and I smiled, "I`d study it now."

She shook her head, "I`ll bet you would."

I reached up and rubbed the spot behind her left ear that made her turn into putty, "How`s thing at home?"

Oracle closed her eyes and purred, "Your parents are really upset, your mum`s crying a lot these days and your dad has been fighting nail and tooth with the council to at least let them see you without consequence."

I stopped rubbing and she made a little crying sound but my thoughts were now on my family. I was putting them through so much pain. Why did this have to happen to us?

I sighed and bit my lip before asking, "And Grams?"

"She`s caught in between helping your dad and comforting your mom," Oracle answered.

"I miss them," I admitted and again I felt the tears in my eyes well up but I refused to let them fall so I looked up at the bare white ceiling and rubbed my eyelids as I spoke, "I miss home and I miss being able to talk to you whenever I want to."

"I`ll still be able to talk to you when you`re not on Werewolf land."

I looked back down and sighed," And even that might be taken away if I don`t adjust soon."

"So adjust. Do your best to fit in so we`ll have a chance of a future," Oracle encouraged me.

I sniffed, "I will."
