"Now that you know, what is it that you want?" So came the boss' reply. He now understood why Mr. Ford decided to work with the dirty pig. He surely knew how to select them.
"I suggest that you keep your end of the deal."
"And what gives you the right to make such a statement?" The boss didn't want where the conversation was going. When he heard that Lawson was at the gate, he was startled. How did he know that he was the one that sent the order? More so, How did he find him?
"It only took me a week to find you, even at a point when everyone had turned their backs on me; guess how long it might have taken the man up there to know? I know that you ordered me to turn against the Ford group, and I can vividly say that he knows it too."
"He must have been a bad boss to have you turn against him that easily?" Came a question that made Lawson look guilty, but he had nothing to do. He got what came because of his greed.
"Mr. Beckett, you must be underestimating me for someone who had reached out first. I am not stupid; I also have evidence that you extended the arrow that I turned towards Mr. Ford. If I were you, I would be humble and pick my words carefully. You would want to experience what I am going through, right?"
Lawson had him where he wanted, enjoying all the faces Mr. Beckett was making. But, for an old man, he was really greedy and stupid.
The bulky man couldn't stand the disrespect Lawson was showing his boss, and he would be damned if he stood around listening. So he came and lifted Lawson by the neck with the intent to kill him.
Lawson was so scared, fighting for air to reach his lungs. "For a weak man, you surely have the nerve to walk here and start spouting nonsense," The bulky man warned. He wanted to kill Lawson and throw his body at the master's dogs.
"Black" Called Mr. Beckett. He loved what he was doing to the coward. He had to stop him before he killed the fool.
"Hahahahha hahahahah," Lawson couldn't help himself from laughing. "Shouldn't he be called elephant? I mean, look how huge he is" The man did deserve to be called black because of the mysterious and dark aura that surrounded him. Lawson thought that he would die when his neck was quizzed.
Lawson's laughter rubbed everyone in the room wrongly. How can he not fear after all that was being done, especially in the setting he was in.
Mr. Beckett had to think this through before getting rid of the Lawyer. For now, he was going to play as though the fool had the upper hand, but he would never have seen it coming.
Unknown to everyone inside the Beckett mansion, everything that happened outside the gate had been witnessed by a dark figure. Alex had tasked his men to follow Lawson around. And right to Alex's words, Lawson wasn't brave enough to turn against him. Seems like Carter Beckett wants to start a war with him.
After listening to Cross' report about Lawyer Lawson, Alex was glad that even when he had become a cockroach, he was still valuable to him. So he delivered the enemy to him on a silver platter.
"What do we do, Alpha?" asked Cross. His hand was itching to punch something. It wa it the nature of wolves since they were beasts to crave blood once in a while. But, it had really been long since they hunted. They had to keep their beastly nature hidden, but that didn't stop the longing for blood.
Cross felt that the punishment that the Alpha gave Lawson was entirely merciful. He wanted to bite down his neck and pull out his heart.
"Let's wait for when he gets frustrated," Came Alex's calm reply
"What do you mean, boss?" Cross was confused
"Christopher is Carter Beckett's son."
"What a twist" Cross was so shocked; he was in awe of the Alpha's intelligence. It seems to him that the boss already knew who the enemy was. He just needed a confirmation to stamp everything.
"Is that why Christopher wasn't swallowed during the sweep mission?"
Alex could understand the frustration. "I didn't spare Christopher because I want to use him as bait. He is my friend, and my friends are family.
"I am sorry to ask this Alpha, but why does Christopher have a different last name if he is a Beckett?"
"I would have loved to answer that, but I have a meeting in five minutes," Alex said while checking for time on his watch. True to his words, Arnold came in to escort him to the meeting. He bowed slightly in recognition of Cross.
Arnold rarely saw Cross in the company, but it seemed like he was vital to the boss.
As they headed towards the meeting room, Alex received a call on his private phone, which rarely happened. Checking the phone, it was a call from doctor Henry. He was calling to give feedback about Malia's report.
"I will be there shortly; give me thirty minutes." Alex turned to Arnold and asked him to call old man Eliot.
The meeting was with the marketing department, and everyone was already there. So yes, the whole department was in the room. Alex was one boss who appreciated his employees because they were valuable assets, so he chose to make everyone as involved as possible.
Once Alex entered the room, they all stood up to bow in respect. He recognized them all with a nod and asked them to sit.
Old man Eliot came in with Arnold, and they each stood on the other side of Alex.
"I know that this meeting was meant for me to listen to the report, but something came up. So, Mr. Eliot here will take my place and listen to everything that will be discussed. Then, Arnold will give me a detailed report from each section of the marketing department. Do not disappoint me."
