Grumbles could be heard, and they were so loud. Fear was the only thing shining on most faces.
Flipping the document before him, Alex began mentioning a name at a time. It seemed like the morning was going to be a long one for everyone whose name had made a list. Some of the names included, Mr. Thomas, Mr, Anthony, Mr. William, and Mr. Davidson.
Alex could have called each of them separately and sent them packing, but to send a message to whoever they were working for, he had to disgrace them.
He closed the document and said, "With these pieces of evidence stated in the papers, non of you is qualified to work in my company anymore.
"You have no right to fire us, Mr. Ford," Came to an angry voice from one of the directors. "I believe we are protected by the regulations governing the board of directors and shareholders. But unfortunately, one of those regulations suggests that a CEO has no right to fire.
"I guess today; we get to find the reason as to why you, Mr. Thomas, only possess a percentage of shares. You are a stupid man, how about going to the village to become a farmer. What are you doing in a corporate environment?" Old man Eliot had had enough of all these idiots. How ignorant could they be?
He believed they were fortunate; the Alpha was the law in their world.
Mr. Thomas was so angry; he felt so insulted by old man Eliot. Like everyone else, he wondered why the man was so much against them. He always spoke to them with contempt, "I will not take any insults from you, old man Eliot."
"Arnold, would you please read some of the corporate laws governing the country, and while you are at that, please read the agreement that the shareholders and directors signed. I guess that it would save us from this unnecessary drama.
Arnold was so glad; he couldn't wait to read everything aloud. He was harboring his anger towards some of these men, and being the one who spells out the good news to them would him down. He couldn't wait to see their facial expressions when the bomb landed.
After reading the documents and emphasizing each law and the articles in each record, the atmosphere surrounding the room was silent. The mood and earlier excitement had dropped in terms of degree. For example, one of the corporate laws that were read stated that 'In cases where a CEO of a company was also the Chairman, then yes, he could fire a director' On the other hand also, it could affect Mr. Thomas. Another shareholder was the one about a shareholder's dismissal. This one wasn't hard because Mr. Ford was the largest shareholder. Therefore he had the exclusive right to vote a shareholder out.
With all the evidence presented, not much was left for Alex to stay; he stood up, left the board room, and went to his office. 'What a waste of his time.'
Even Alex had stood up to leave the room, the four men that had earlier spoken recklessly were all on their knees begging for mercy, but no one talked to them. Judging by the fact that Mr. Ford already had evidence against them, it means that he had already prepared them beforehand. Instead, they fell into his trap and made it easy for him to send them packing—what a waste of ability.
Inside Alex's office, he picked up his phone and called Daniel asking him to come to the company. He needed to discuss Amber's mission. The sooner that mission ends, the earlier his mate will leave that restaurant.
Alex was so glad that no one knew about her being his mate; he couldn't imagine what the hunters would do if they found out about her. In their mind, his mate was already dead. He wanted to keep it that way for the time being. Unknown to most, he loved that she was human; he needed some humanity with her innocence.
It was Friday now since the girls were punished. They carried out the punishment for three days in a row. Unlike Amber, the whole situation had a toll on Malia's health. It all started on Thursday night when she was filling dizzy and throwing up, but she still reported for work.
"Malia, please rest. You are not well, and I am scared of you falling. You know that a restaurant is a busy place, and all the movements may take a toll on you." Amber was scared for Malia, especially now that she was their Luna.
She remembers vividly when her mate had spoken to her about the mission and how Malia's quitting depended on her completion. One other thing was for her to protect her. How could she protect someone as stubborn as Luna?
"I can't bear to miss more work days and have my salary reduced. I love all the luxuries I enjoy while living with you, but for how long? We both know I need to learn independency, and I can't do that if I have no money to take care of my needs. So, I need to work and save more. I need to get a decent house that I could call home."
What was said was logical, but it still made no sense to Amber. Having known Malia for almost four months now, she has come to appreciate how much of a hard worker she was. She was proud of her as a friend, but she would use the money saved up as a medical fee if she got sick.
Amber decided that she was going to bring this matter to the Alpha so that he would get to know how stubborn his mate was. It's not because she wants to ward off the blame for when something happens to Malia, but because someone had to intervene, and who better than the Alpha.
