Chereads / THE ONE FOR ME / Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

"Like a detective trying to get through my mind," Malia shuddered jokingly. She looked dramatic because her tears were still wet from crying so much.

"I just thought you look ugly when you cry; look at that snot flowing from your nose. Hahahahaahah" Amber couldn't help but laugh at her joke.

However, innocent Malia, who didn't know that her friend was joking, covered her face and picked some tissue from her bedside drawer; she wiped her face. Amber saw and laughed harder. Then, turning, she only got an angry look from Malia.

"haha, I was joking. You have snot," Amber said, trying to get her friend out of her misery.

When Malia heard that, she scrunched up the tissue and threw it toward Amber, intending to hit her in the face; however, she dodged to the side, fell off the bed, and hit her butt on the carpeted floor.

Malia, who couldn't control herself, laughed so hard that she lay back on the bed.

"It's not funny; you know" Amber faked anger and pouted; she was happy to see Malia back to her usual self. She knew that her friend never wanted to talk about whatever was bothering her. She would leave that for later. Malia would open up when she was ready.

Malia turned, thinking that Amber was angry but only found her friend smiling her way. "did you hit your head too? I thought it was your butt? Why are you smiling so brightly?"

"Because you are laughing so happily," Amber answered as she smiled widely.

Her answer got Malia to smile shyly while covering her face. Then, she felt herself being hugged by Amber, and she lifted her head t hug her friend back.

It was the list Amber could do for her friend, the girl before her had been through a lot, and although she didn't know her story, just looking at the scars on Malia's body, she could tell just a bit about the pain her girl harbored.

"Why are you hugging me so tightly, Amber? Malia asked; they had hugged for a minute, and her friend wasn't letting go.

"It's a warning," answered Amber

"What do you mean by warning?

"It's a warning that this should be the last time you cry alone. Do you see these shoulders? Amber let go of Malia and got her to look at her as she touched her shoulders. Then, pulling Malia's hands to hold them, she continued, "These shoulders are willing to be shared between you and Daniel" This got Malia scrunching up her face, but she still smiled.

Malia continued, "This is me saying that you should never cry alone when you have me who is always willing to listen to you and lend my shoulder for you to cry on. So today, I, Amber Renold, vow to be your best friend till death do us part, and if one day you need a sister, I will be here too. Ok?"

Malia couldn't control the tears that were flowing anymore. It was the first that someone was so concerned about her tears. She had previously cried alone, fearing that someone would hear her and find something wrong. Her aunt always said that crying made her weak and didn't deserve to call because she hadn't earned it.

"Thank you, Amber," Malia said as she shook her friend's hands. She was so happy.

"What did I tell you about crying? Stop, ok." Amber's eyes were watering now

"Malia, who tried to clean her tears, answered, "You said that I shouldn't cry alone, so I am crying in front of you and even with you."

"Ha ha... come here, you little naughty fellow" Amber pulled Malia towards her, and they both hugged.

The two girls were so lost in the moment that they forgot about being late for work. They were startled by the sound of Amber's phone, and they both screamed their boss' name in horror. They looked at each other, laughed so loud, and jumped off the bed. Amber ran to her room to dress up, and Malia ran into the bathroom to have her bath.

Ten minutes later, Amber ran back into Malia's room as she combed her hair fast. "Malia, if you don't come out of that bathroom, I will come in there and drag you by the hair. But, my dear friend, we are already late, and Mr. Harold will be chewing our heads for breakfast."

"ring ring ring" Malia had to run to the living room to get her phone.

"Yes, love. Good morning" She answered.

"You know why I am working there. Should I leave before the initial agreement? She came back into Malia's room and found her running about in her room in a bid to dress up.

"I understand, love, it's not a big deal" Amber was starting to get irritated with where her conversation with her mate was going.

Malia took off the towel that she had used to wrap her head, but her hair was still wet. Having long and thick hair wasn't good, especially during rush hours. She sat down on her bed and motioned for Amber to help her dry her hair as she buttoned her blouse.

Amber looked at her while scrunching up her face. "I am sorry, my love, I am not neglecting you. I promise to be with you after work till midnight; then I can return home.

Malia stood up to apply some lip balm on her lips, leaving Amber with the towel in her hands which she took to the bathroom. "Of course, baby, it's a promise. Now let me get to work; I will call you when I am done. I love you," And she hangs up the phone.

"Men are children. Can you believe Daniel whining for me this morning" She complained to Malia, who was tying her wet hair in a bun with hopes that it would dry with the wind.

"You complain like that, but I know that you love him beyond anything" Malia, who didn't know much about love, couldn't help but throw her friend a comment.

"Yes, he is my love from the moon g...."
