Chapter 22 - Dire situation

Before he could even react at all, the minautor head was absorbed from inside as if a parasite digested it and replaced his head instead.

Its body became a little bit thinner and smaller where the height of its body is almost comparable to an average person's.

The head had no change in specific.

the muscle... His body surely became smaller but the muscle became bulker as if his strength had reached its peak.

And standing right in front of him makes it even more overwhelming. It's as if, his presence is being absorbed by this new Lich.

Flux had sweats running down his spine. He started to doubt himself whether he can win this fight or not or just escape this place now using the void.

Truthfully, for Flux to think this way is not unexpected. In face of a battle between life and death, people usually think of how to escape this situation first before engaging and Flux was by no means different.

At any rate, Flux had to think of some way to survive in this place somehow.

He know he wouldn't last for a very long time now that he had used quite a hefty amount of his preserved mana. Additionally, his stamina had started to deteriorate. He can feel his breathing had worsened from the moment he fought this monster until now. Albeit he had a technique to recover his stamina, it won't last for the long run now that he had to fight this monster again with doubled power. Surely this isn't the right condition to fight for the second round.

He had been fighting monsters for a very long time and it wouldn't be surprising to know this anymore.

No matter how much you train there is a limit to every person.

"What's wrong? Do you think you can still fight now that I revived myself?" Said Lich amusingly as though he'd read Flux's circumstance.

But Flux feels that his ego is being mistakenly hit. However, he did not retaliate. Any further action would just become meaningless.

"Of course, I can, there's no way I lose to someone like you," said Flux as a response.

Sounds childish but that's only what he can say for now.

'Shit... Ever since I obtained this eye, my mana capacity has rapidly grown, and my mana keeps restoring at an abnormal state. But, this has proven to be meaningless at all if I can't use them in this fight. I have to at least limit the use of my techniques that requires mana to use for an offensive attack later.' Thought Flux as various strategies he had used in his past life became evident to his eyes again.

To survive, he had to use everything he can even if it cost one of his limbs.

Lich began to speak with a thoughtful expression. "Hmm. That skill earlier appears to be quite useful. What do you call it again? Vo~ed oh void"

Perhaps because he was killed once, his attitude changed. Even his voice seemed too unnatural.

It's like, watching a cringed half-skeleton head aesthetic girl.

So unbearable to see.

Yet Flux was able to hold his anger. No, he didn't, he didn't even flinch seeing it unfold.

The playful mood altered into a gloomy one as he noticed Flux did not react at all whatsoever.

Lich said. "You're no fun."

"..."

"Whatever. I will kill you right this instant." Lich changed his instance.

Then...

Swish...

Two swords similar to his previous one rapidly materialized from both of his hands.

With a smirk, Lich spoke. "Are you ready? little guy..."

Kinda sound super weird but Flux did not mind.

"Guess I have no choice..." Flux said as his stance became a samurai stance.

The expression which shows Lich's mood had changed considerably sooner after hearing that.

Hushhhh-

Shortly after, a reasonable amount of mana combined with natural energy has begun gathering and wrapping his body.

Because the purity of this mana was so high, the color became so dense and blue.

It was unknown, yet not quite to Lich the source of this energy, his eyebrows broadly widened.

Flux said loudly.『Technique Deployment, Combat Mode』

Instantly, the blue mana around him scattered altogether and formed into various blue crystal swords before surrounding him from all sides, and on the surface, where he stood, various blue sword marks were imprinted on the ground.

Furthermore, his right bright yellow eye glowed even more as if it became the radiating halo sun.

Lich who thought he had already won, had his eyes widened quickly.

It's not to that point that his life is on the line. However, the amount of pressure placed on him was enough to threaten and put his guard high.

The Lich laughed. "So you still had this much power despite the lack of mana and stamina... Hahaha. You... I will remember you for the rest of my life as the most formidable and strongest enemy I had fought."

"..." Flux did not answer. His eyes were filled with the seriousness that indicated his determination.

At that moment, Lich knew he had to stop underestimating Flux and prepare himself for the fight.

A few seconds of silence filled the whole area as both combatants prepared themselves.

Then...

Swoosh-  swoosh-

Both Lich and Flux arrived in the center of the battlefield.

Swishhh!!! Swishhh!!! Bang!

Klang Klang Klang Klang!

Without beating the bush around, the two quickly started the battle. Their speed was so fast to the point that only the lights of the sword clashing together are the only visible to people's eyes.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Several explosions burst out as their struggle for life and strength just started heating up.

At the same time, somewhere in the forest near the ongoing feud, more than ten people are watching the presence of two creatures fighting at an extreme speed. They had a chill running down through their spine as their eyes couldn't follow the speed they are on.

The other one was surely a monster. However, on the contrary, despite genuinely having a small height and size and being almost imperceptible, people were sure he is a human and the same kid who came with them.

"Captain, what are we supposed to do here?"

"..."

The captain did not respond. Not that he had no power to respond he was just forced to not say anything. The scene unfolding right ahead is simply too extreme to be comprehended.

To others too. The words coming from the other one were not loud, rather, he spoke quietly in a way they almost couldn't hear but it felt like those words exploded within their ears to hear them loudly.

Having seen albeit just for a few seconds, they already felt the inferiority between them.

They left the carriages to find the Lich a.k.a the one behind this entire situation excluding the other two captains to protect the carriage, and while they were advancing, they were welcomed by a huge undead minautor on the way.

It did not do anything to harm them as it passed through them in a certain direction.

It did not take long for them to realize something and immediately followed the minautor.

That'd what leads them here.

"That kid. He's clearly being push back yet he's still barely fighting back. Is he really a kid?"

Nod...

Everyone here doesn't really understand Flux capabilities but they know that he just received the system not too long ago.

Which is my they're flustered to see a kid fighting almost equal to a monster with dozens of power against his own.

The captain had a thoughtful expression before he spoke. "Let's wait for now. There's no need for us to rush."

His companions doesn't know what he was thinking but they nodded anyway. The situation was too dire for them to move without any plans. Therefore, they had to wait for an opening before they strike.

Back to the battlefield.

Boom! Klang Klang Klang...

In the insights, the fight seems to be equal between the two, however, if you look thoroughly, Flux is the only one having a hard time fighting against his foe.

Flux while barely fighting against Lich. 'How am I supposed to kill this guy when I can't even scratch his body? Additionally, this guy can just one hit me and it's all over for me. At this rate, I will eventually die if I can't find a single opening. It's all thanks to my spirit eye that I could hardly dodge his attacks and thanks to my buff skill from deploying the combat mode technique which gives me more strength and attack power. Having none of those skills means that I have died earlier without even putting a decent fight. I have to at least avoid his attack and hold as long as I can no matter what'

This is what Flux could only think. It is indeed true that he has run out of mana to use more techniques and the evidence is apparent as his attributes and additional crescent slashes had disappeared from his sword.

Swish!

Right after thinking those things, a sword suddenly appeared in front.

Perhaps, because it was just a few inches from splitting his head in half, the sword seemed to have gotten bigger in his sight.
