[Vereena]
I huddled into a ball in an awkward position at the very edge of the cavern, with my back pressed up against the jagged wall. Taking in the sight of the flickering flames and the crackling sounds they make in the middle, keeping us all warm while the rest of the crew has already gone into slumber. Edric had settled himself below my feet, his mouth gape open as his hands sprawled apart. The cacophony of exchanging snores totted up the discomfort I was feeling and kept me awake.
As much as I wanted to close my eyes, terrible flashing of images concocted inside my head. From the crawling bugs, snakes, and the very thought that I was the only woman amongst the dozen of men. Things could happen so quickly, and I don't trust any of them surrounding me. They are, after all, men with impulses that they couldn't contain to themselves, and I am an easy target they could spot on with one head turn.
