The music was three minutes thirty-seven seconds. Haneul listened to it once. He really enjoyed the music. It needs a lot of polishing, and a few notes need to be rearranged, but it was a decent piece by his standard.
He hoped the lyrics fit the song's mood, like a heart trembling over finding happiness but at the same time nervous about never having that happiness.
Haneul felt the hint of anxiousness and melancholy by the song's end as it bought back the memory of someone and his bond with that someone in his teenage days. "Na Hyun Joon-shi… The music is good and reminds me of my first love."
"The song is about first love…" Hyun Joon left out 'my' while talking about it.
Haneul did not care about all the judging eyes and just wanted to get into work. "Let's dance!"
Hyun Joon blinked in surprise. "Together? Now? Just like that?"
Haneul blinked before realising that it was the work style he always followed and it would be new to Hyun Joon. So he elaborated on his plan. "I will dance for a few beats. We will discuss, and then you will try the steps before we move to the next few beats. I do not choreograph a song in a stretch and then show it to... you know... my client? Artist? We do it together."
Haneul was unsure how to address the persons he previously worked with, as he had only worked with a couple of artists in SMJ. He had worked with Kang Eun, Cain and then Dew's albums. Even though he always wanted to work with Bella Donna, he never got the chance.
"Let's keep the count of dissatisfied steps. If the count of the dissatisfied steps is more than a satisfying step, then we are the winner." Kim Ji Yu suggested loudly, and his band members agreed.
To not be outdone, Go Dae-Kyun put his condition to determine the winner. "Let's keep the count of failed steps. If Hyun Joon could not follow the steps more, then we are the winners."
"Hyun Joon! Don't hold back. Tell us immediately if you don't like it even a little bit! We have to win! Fighting!!!" Kim Ji Yu was sly in sneaking in a piece of advice on how his maknae should help them win.
"Haneul! Give your best. Fighting!!!" Go Dae-Kyun, who had not seen Haneul dance in years, could not help but cheer loud like a fanboy shocking everyone around.
"When have I not given my best?!" The arrogant smirk of Haneul made Go Dae-Kyun happy as he missed his precious maknae.
Haneul stood in the position, and the music started. Hyun Joon took a couple of steps to the side and decided to observe the new choreographer.
When everyone expected Haneul to move, he just stood there and listened to the music. After 30 seconds, he said, stop, and the manager stopped the music.
"Let's dance till this part first." He told the manager, and he agreed readily.
Haneul closed his eyes and loosened up his body. With a nod, he opened his eyes, and the music started again. The brown eyes shone with youthful charm and a carefree attitude when he opened them.
Hyun Joon stood there trying to mirror the expression, but he looked like a bad imitation of Haneul that minute. He stopped his attempt.
The music started, and it felt like the first drop of the rain - refreshing and later, it builds the feeling of confusion and loss.
Haneul swayed his entire body as if he was about to fall on the side before his movements became more focused. The sway became slight but with a purpose, and he twirled twice as he slid backwards smoothly and danced like a male peacock that flaunts to attract a mate.
He dropped to the ground abruptly with grace. Kneeling on the floor, he rolled his upper body backwards without support. As the head touched the floor, he freed his leg and flipped his entire body effortlessly. He stood a few steps behind his original place.
None of his moves was sensual, but it was a carefree opening for a youthful song. He swayed a bit like he was happily in a trance before hanging his head in shy happiness. Next came a few simple movements as he danced like a carefree teenager with spring in his legs and wings on the back as he was in love for the first time with unrestrained glee.
When he stopped dancing, the music also stopped, making everyone groan in disappointment.
Literally, it was done in 30 seconds, and everyone was wrapped in his fingers.
Haneul's face conveyed the happy emotions of the person who was in love for the first time, and it was still there on his face. He closed his eyes for a moment, and when he opened his eyes, he did not have such an expression anymore.
Everyone sucked in their breath when they saw the small details and how beautifully he could switch out of it.
"Can we take this slow? It will be a great opening, but I can't do it in one go! Let's break it down?" Hyun Joon looked at Haneul with a star in his eyes, hoping to achieve what the new choreographer did effortlessly, even if he had to work so hard to gain such precision.
