Larry hesitated long for a minute and then decided to spill.
"Okay, look. Thing is, I need advice. Good solid advice. Can you help?''Â
"What kind of advice?'' Kaiden asked him, sloppily.
"Emotional?''
"Why do you say it like you're not sure?''
''I am sure, okay.'' Larry sprang up at once, gallivanting within the premises of the fat-spaced bedroom. He kept at roughening his curls with both hands in the process.
''Your behavior is bothersome, Lar. Are you gonna talk to me or not? Pull yourself together, eish!''
Once he'd said this, he glared at the seemingly confused lad. In a dash, Larry marched his feet to where he sat. The way he bumped in on him startled him very much and he snapped. ''What's your freaking problem, man?''
''Kaiden.''
''What?''
''Think I've found the one.''
''What one?'' Kai asked as he sized him up for his lunatic behavior. What was up with all the strange body moves and annoying riddles?
''Love...'' Larry drawled and peered his eyes into his soul.
Irked out, Kaiden pushed him off.
''Get off me, freak! What's your fucking problem?''
''I mean it, Kai. I have fallen hard and I'm so lost in the clouds about it.''
Kai gave him a stern look, saying nothing at first. His eyes expressed some hidden message in them but either Larry was too dreamy to see it or for whatever reason.
Just as he was about to speak up, Larry turned his back to him, walking away from him.
''Never mind.'' He said. ''Just remembered this is uncharted territory for you. I don't expect you to understand.''
''If you already know this, why did you come to me?'' Kaiden frowned, and glared at the back of his head.
''Cause it's just me and you in this house.''
Of course Kai understood the coated meaning behind those words. Ever since high school, several girls trooped around him every chance they got but he just wouldn't look at them. His mum felt he needed to see the doctor. His father booked him up for several appointments with their family doctor, Dr. Patrick when he officially turned 16 and still showed no interest in the opposite gender. Larry had termed him 'emotionally insensitive', saying he had a big deficience with his ability to feel for someone. Because while he had dated a little short of five girls between Highschool and first year in College, Kaiden would not even look at any girl. He also got pretty irritated when they touched him.
''You know sometimes I wonder why it's so hard for you to do.''
''Hard for me to do what?'' Kai lifted his half brow at him.
Larry turned to face him.
''Why is it so hard for you to be a normal guy? Just like me.''
''Hahaha. How are you normal? Right now you're drooling hard over some girl. If that's your normal, I don't wanna be part of it.''
''Look, Kai. I keep telling you this: this is freaking college. I mean, there's girls of every kind, shape and form; there's the big booty queens and those with smaller butts too. Then there's the big watermelons and small watermelons. I mean, c'mon dude, there's every freaking kind of girl you could possibly want.''
''So?''
''It tears my hair out thinking those beautiful chicks line up to be with you instead and not me. Like, for real, what's it about you that they keep coming when you freaking keep turning them down.'' Larry pulled at his hair now.
He appeared so dramatic that Kai could no longer hold back from laughing.
''Hahahaha. So that's what you wanted to say to me.''
''This… 'Course not.''
''Okay.''
''But all I'm saying is you should start looking at these girls differently like the females that they are.''
"As do I."
"As you don't.''
''Come off it, man. They're just that. Girls… Why're you beating yourself so much about it?''
"You know what? I consider you odd. Everyone in the family thinks so and I'm sure those girls will too, if they don't already think that."
"Who in the world cares what any of you choose to think about me?" Kai scoffed.Â
"Like for real? You don't care?''
''Nope.''
''You're difficult.''
"Glad we're on the same page. So are you gonna talk now or should I return to reading my Journal?"
"So, I met her last week at this shop and-"Â
"Okay, okay, save the details for someone who's actually interested. I mean, look at you man? Your cheeks are all puffed up, red and all that.''
"No. I'm not." Larry felt his face with his hand.
"Hmm."Â
Even though Kaiden showed no interest in the talk, deep down he was very happy about this perceived love interest that was getting his twin all excited. He wouldn't say it but it hurt a lot less to learn constantly how good it felt for one of them to get some closure about their sexual preferences soon enough.Â
"I'm not all red and honestly you're making me feel embarrassed for even talking to you about this.''Â
"Then don't.''Â
"Of course, I will." Larry said, smiling cheekily. Even Kai could not keep from laughing now. His gay laughter rang in the air of that place, Larry also joining in.Â
When the cackling subsided, Larry was prepared to speak again. But Kai beat him to it.Â
"Have you asked yourself what it is about her you admire the most?"
"Uhm… Well, she looks at me in a specific kinda way."Â
"You mean the way I'm looking at you now?" Kai joked dryly.Â
"Course not! Christ! I mean I wouldn't be thinking about her right now if she did."
"Oh you wouldn't, huh?"
"Certainly not!"Â
Kai chortled lightly at this.Â
"But here's another point, she seems kind and caring and… ''
"And you know all these about her in, say what? A couple of days?"
"Yeah. Anything impossible about that?'' Larry sneered.
"Hahaha. You know what's impossible, bro? Your hormones. Can't tell me you haven't kissed her yet."Â
Kai smirked curtly, "Of course you have. Haven't you?"Â
Larry said nothing, but his cheeks were burning hot.Â
"Tell me, how memorable was it? I mean the kiss."
"Magical."Â
"Indeed. Her name?"
"Janet."
"Janet? What kind of odd name is that?"Â
"Huh, a lovely name? You know what?" Kai nodded his head into a 'No'.
"Ah! Forget it. I'd rather seek the opinion of a more reliable source."
"Well, isn't that good for you?"
"Too good, bro. And I hope someday you can actually allow yourself to feel something."
Kai stared unblinkingly at him.Â
'Seriously?'
"I'm talking about emotions, bro. Authentic and pure feelings, more like raw, untainted passions. You don't get that now, do you? Well, someday you will."
Since Larry had said all he wanted to, he got off the couch and began to saunter towards the bedroom exit. His mood was still as great as it could get. But having such talks with his brother was definitely not the best alternative. Larry concluded as he walked himself further towards the threshold area.Â
*****
Kai glanced at Larry's back view as he walked away from him. After some few seconds worth of staring, he began to start towards the window place where he'd left off something important.Â
Once he reached there, he flinged up his headset from that side and soon settled his mood on some sonorous sound trap.
Only that Larry's last words kept on resonating in his mind despite the music from his huge earphones blasting into his skull.
'You don't get that now, do you? Well, someday you will.'
Would he?
