"Southern borders are higher than North," Asher told the group.
It was obvious to see that it was the four people's first time to see the Southern borders, needless to say the four twenty-year-olds who only heard and read about the Southern borders couldn't help but stare at it in awe.
"The South..." Keagan uttered. Then a wide grin etched on his face. "I can't believe we reached the South! It's the farthest end of Moon Valley! Whoa, look at how high those trees are! Those walls too, who just made such caricatures?"
Gavin stared at the borders himself. "It was built hundreds of years ago. Probably, even before the current Alpha King's age began."
"The ones who built the borders of the South were both werewolves and humans. But the majority who contributed to the construction of it are the werewolves. To be exact, it was the Moon Valley Pack's ancestors," Tamara explained.
"As expected from our student who always reads books," Keagan commented then caught sight of the other person who had turned silent. "Princess?"
Princess Carrie stared at the borders, not saying anything as with a huff, she jumped off the horse and began to walk towards the walls.
"Princess Carrie," Gavin also called, leaving the horse.
The rest couldn't help but follow after.
"Do you feel anything?" Gavin asked the princess as he stood next to her once she stopped.
Her eyes were only looking at those walls, as if looking at something that wasn't there, or simply, something that was but wasn't anymore. "This wall... I think I have seen it somewhere."
Gavin glanced behind, figuring they were too far away from the rest, he asked, "Where have you seen it?"
Princess Carrie pulled her attention away from the walls, shaking her head as if trying to remove something from her head. "N-Nothing... Those are just nightmares. They didn't mean anything."
Something pricked Gavin's heart as he heard her words. Stepping closer, he looked at the princess, "These walls appear in your dreams?"
"Yes," Princess Carrie answered truthfully, then faced the prince next to her, "And they are all covered in blood."
Walls covered in blood... Such horrifying images. Just what else did the princess dream of? Gavin couldn't help but wonder. He himself dreamt about those nightmares ever since he was a kid. If this was something that was happening to Princess Carrie herself then he may be right.
The incident when they were young, as the rumors around the palace said, Princess Carrie's life and his life - they may have been connected with that one incident.
One boy left the palace, abducted by a stranger. One girl left the palace, and was found to have died quickly after.
One boy returned with no faint memories about the abduction. One girl came back to live with memories she didn't own.
"Witches," Gavin whispered.
Princess Carrie's eyes widened.
"Do you see them in your dreams too?" Gavin asked.
Eyes full of shock, Princess Carrie stared back at Gavin. Written in her eyes was the answer Gavin was looking for.
Princess Carrie was also dreaming about witches. Similar to Prince Gavin, she too had been seeing them in her dreams. As for the reason why such coincidence happened, Gavin had yet to know.
The wind whispered words without sounds and the leaves on the trees danced mirthfully. The sun was up and the scent of jasmine mixed with after rain wafted through the air. Next to the wall as the books said, was the sea. It was the last bit of the land, the farthest end where the people of the Moon Valley.
Beyond the tall and thick walls, no one could live.
For they were too tall and thick, as the books said, no could pass through the walls.
Unless people learn how to fly, no one would be able to.
