"Dad, where has mummy gone?" 9 year old Kaia asked during dinner.
Chanel was playing and making a mess of eating her pasta on the side while and her father had flinched at the sound of her voice, knocking down a glass of orange juice.
"I'm sorry, I-" He apologized rapidly, wiping the table down with a napkin then removing strings of spaghetti from Chanel's hair.
"Mummy Mummy Mummy!" Chanel chanted as her father tried to clean her up, seemingly picking up a familiar sounding word after hearing her older sister say it. "Mummy where?"
Mr. Harrington sighed, rubbing his back hand into his eyes. "Mummy won't be home for a long while."

Kaia woke up with a gasp, feeling as though she'd been under water and waking up was a breath of fresh air.
The rhythmic beeping she heard calmed her and almost sent back to sleep but then she fully regained consciousness, properly looking around the room.
A hospital room. A private hospital room that seemed much more expensive than she would ever willingly pay for.
She tried to sit up but a blinding dizziness made her slowly lie back down, blinking up at the ceiling and trying to remember why she ended up here.
She remembered walking back home with Rosalie, feeling in edge when she walked down her street and entered her house. Her window open. Calling 911.
Then... what?
The more Kaia tried to think, the more her head hurt so she gave up in the meantime, people around might have a clue as to what happened.
Kaia lay down for a few minutes mire, wondering what vibe she gave off to have been put in a room as exquisite as this and if they might let her off from paying the definitely huge bill since she never requested for this.
The door opened and a tall teenager with neon green hair tips walked into the room holding a plastic bag.
Once she saw Kaia was awake, she gasped and rushed to her, dropping the bag on a seat with a blanket draped over it.
"Thank goodness, K. You're awake." 15 year old Chanel Evergold smiled down at her as she repeatedly pushed a button overhead the bed. "You gave me such a fright, you know. I thought I was in trouble when the cops called but it was to tell me you'd been knocked out with a concussion."
Knocked out with a concussion. "An intruder? Was it an intruder?"
"Definitely, I mean they were waiting for you to wake up to collect your statement." Chanel said, lifting the bag off the chair and sitting on it after drawing it closer to the bed. "But that's the general conclusion."
"I don't remember a lot of what happened in between me going into the house and calling the police."
"Take your time, sis." Chanel brought out three burgers and a bottle of water and placed on the bedside table. "I bought it Incase you woke up, but I won't risk giving you anything until after seeing the doctor."
Kaia was about to ask Chanel if she was the one that requested a private room for her, maybe scold her about money management when the door opened and a white haired man with a petite nurse entered the room with friendly smiles on their face.
"Miss Evergold, nice to see you back." The doctor joked good humorously.
"How long was I out?" Kaia asked as Chanel bit into her burger.
"Many hours, less than a day." Chanel answered, mouth full as she multitasked with eating and scrolling through her phone. Suddenly, Chanel took a sharp intake of breath and excused herself.
"I need to use the restroom." She said hurriedly then joked. "The V.I.P one."
Kaia nodded, noticing how aloof she was but kept mostly quiet as the nurse took her vitals. The doctor asked her if she was feeling pain anywhere (yes, her head).
Then she brought up the one thing that has been bothering her. "Uh, I was wondering whose decision it was to get me to a private room?"
"Ah, never mind dear, everything has already been paid for." The doctor smiled while Kaia's mouth dropped in shock. "Everything, you need not worry."
"By who?" She asked, not having one clue of who would willingly pay her hospital bills for her. Yes, Paula would help but she was likely to get Kaia a ward bed instead of a luxury hospital room.
"Frankly, I do not know." The doctor said, the nurse arranging their things to start leaving. "It was an anonymous payment by a Miss T."
A Miss T.? Did Kaia know anyone with the name of T? If not for her previous neighbor, Thelma, but she was a Mrs. and she definitely wouldn't be paying Kaia's bills.
"Well then, if all goes well, you'll be discharged by the end of today or early tomorrow." The doctor said, bidding her goodbye as he left with the nurse.
"Do introduce me to this royal charming of yours one day, hmm?" Chanel said coming out of the restroom, her previous high ponytail down and her auburn hair and green tips spilled around her slender shoulders.
Kaia blinked. She too would like to be introduced to this royal charming Miss T.
