Chapter 9 - Chapter Nine: They Meet Again

"You're insane." Kaia said after a few minutes of silence as she tried to absorb every absurd thing Rosalie was telling her with all seriousness. "You all… insane. Werewolves and vampires and witches? Is this some kind of cult or something?"

Someone in the van whistled while Rosalie sighed. "I know it's too much for you to take in, but right now–"

"Okay, let's recap this." Kaia let out a laugh of disbelief. "I'm your alpha's "Luna" and–" she laughed once more. "–your rivals found out about me and tried to use me to get to him."

Rosalie nodded with a tight lip. "Yes."

"But I'm heavily protected in secret and they can't get me so instead they went for my sister because they knew I'd also get involved." Kaia concluded and Rosalie nodded. "I'm going insane. Or this is just one bad dream. Or… nope, you all are definitely the insane ones. Let me out."

"We can't do that. You can't be anywhere near the vampire pack." Rosalie said. "For your safety or… what you might see."

"What I might–" Kaia began to say but immediately, the van swerved dangerously to the side and she fell off her seat, screaming.

Mona, what the fuck!?" Rosalie screamed at the redhaired lady, opening the slide that separated the front seats from the back.

"Blood suckers! Them bloodsuckers!" Mona screamed back at her as she seemed to be battling with some obstacles on the road, the car swerving from one end to the other. "Lots of them!"

"What's happening?" Kaia began, trying to push herself up. What she saw next had her screaming on top her lungs.

Through the rectangular opening separating the two car sections, she glimpsed a built man standing a distance in front of the van, not looking like he would move.

Instead of trying to swerve, Mona sped up, intending to crash into him.

"Do not crash into him." Kaia heard for the first time the voice of the man sitting in the front passenger seat, it was calm despite all the chaos going on.

"Motherfucker won't survive this!" Mona screamed, the speed gradually increasing.

"For fuck's sake!"

"MONA!"

Kaia couldn't keep track of who was screaming and who was not, considering she was also screaming but soon they were crashing into the man who had his hands extended.

And instead of feeling the slight bump of running over someone and still moving, there was one that shook the entire van.

Then the van was in the air. Somersaulting, crashing.

__

"Get her out of here!"

"Fuck!"

"They're everywhere!"

"Take her and get the fuck out!"

"No!"

Kaia could feel herself being thrown over someone's shoulder. The unstableness, the heavy breathings, the pained screams, the howls.

Then she remembered. That night, the night she was invaded, she was attacked by some kind of animal.

__

When Kaia opened her eyes next, she was in a room too bright to quickly accustom her eyes to. After squinting for a few seconds, she slowly opened her eyes to a very unfamiliar room, full of light and air.

Everything was quiet. Too quiet and the first feeling she felt was panic.

Her memories hadn't pieces together yet to remember how she ended up here but if there was anything Kaia picked up from the streets, it was paranoia.

And finding herself in a strange, quiet room she's never been in before warranted that.

However, after a few seconds of hurriedly glancing around her surroundings, she didn't pick up any hostile or negative aura. The silence was almost... comforting.

And then she remembered.

Chanel. Alaska. The car crash. Everything.

So she jumped out the bed but a pained scream tore out of her immediately her feet hit the floor and she found herself tumbling to the ground, her left ankle searing with red, hot pain.

"Shit!" She exclaimed, groaning as she looked down on her feet. Her left ankle to feet was neatly bandaged and it took no genius to figure out she most definitely hurt it. Probably in the crash? How was her ankle the only affected part?

She reached out to gently massage it as she thought back to everyone in the van with her.

The commotion after the crash while she was barely conscious. What had happened? How did she get here?

Grabbing onto the sheets on the bed, Kaia hoisted herself up into a sitting position as she tried to figure out a way to stand and balance on one leg.

"Okay, okay." She spoke softly to herself as she looked around the room.

A distance in front of the bed was an inactive large screen television and below it some sort of electrical fireplace. Beside that was a door Kaia had a good guess was probably for an ensuite.

She turned and looked at the other side of the room, there was an open space decorated with a comfy couch and some fluffy chairs.

The room was very sparsely but tastefully polish and Kaia knew this place screamed money.

It also screamed a possible drug cartel abode, so she had to figure out what the hell she was dealing with as soon as possible.

Standing up on her good leg, she hopped to the open space and the window there, looking over to a very spacious backyard with a large, wiggly-shaped swimming pool.

There was also no one in sight there.

Kaia frowned, the paranoia she felt not fully leaving her. Really, where was this? Was whoever holding her here the same person holding Chanel? She had to find out.

She hopped backwards, with the intent of going out the door but she knocked into a chair and lost her balance, falling into the couch and hitting her bandaged feet on the chair that tripped her.

"Ouch. Ouch." She hissed, massaging her ankle.

And that was when the door opened and Kaia, alert, shot up into a sitting position, looking at who came in.

Dark, unstyled hair that fell over his eyes, the strong jawline and those cold, cold grey eyes.

Kaia was looking straight at Luca.
