Chapter 31 - One Vampire Served Well-Done

"WHO THE FUCK WAS THAT?!"

Rainn heard the curse that came out of the Vampire. Though he was sure that he had stuck the arrow in her head even though with a small force. As he had expected, the Vampire wouldn't die so easily.

Rainn felt that he was stronger than before even though he hadn't seen the stats window again for a few days.

He made the final preparations before starting the fight, which was to wear the Scorpion Armor. The Scorpion Armor turned out to be a black vest that reminded him of the tough skin of the giant scorpion monster he had fought in Dungeon World. He used to thought it was a complete set of armor.

Rainn put on the vest quickly and saw that there had been new stats created after he put it on.

[ Armor: 20 ]

'Nice,' Rainn smiled.

Then Rainn put his cell phone which he had set to record video on the wall behind him in a standing position.

He heard the quick movement of the Vampire. Rainn tried to peek from behind the pile of cardboard. But it was the wrong decision.

It turned out that the Vampire had realized his existence. She lunged at Rainn with unbelievable speed and sent a kick through the cardboard boxes.

'BUAAGHHH!'

Rainn bounced off his spot and rolled around. He just stopped when he hit an iron pole.

"Grrrhhh YOU!"

The Vampire girl has now shown her true self. A terrifying creature with scarlet hair like strands of bloody mane.

"Ah, shit," Rainn muttered. But the pain he felt was not as bad as he thought. Perhaps this was the effect of that Scorpion Armor. If there's no armor to cover his body, maybe the Vampire has already broken a couple of ribs.

Rain stood up. His current distance from the Vampire was about ten meters.

[ Skill activated: Ultimate Instinct (Lv.3) ]

With the hard training he had endured, his MP had also increased by twenty-five points. Coupled with the effects of the Lesser Mana Ring, Rainn now had forty-five MP. With that, he can feel assured.

"I let you live. But I knew it was the wrong decision!" The Vampire girl screamed.

"Well," Rainn replied. "You're right about that."

"But I won't lose to you. Just because you beat a few punks in school and can do fire magic don't think you're comparable to me."

Rain frowned. How did she know about that?

'I don't know, it doesn't even matter now!' That's right something more important at the moment is defeating her. As to why the Vampire knew, he could ask after making her surrender, handicapped, or close to dying.

Rainn raised his bow.

[ Selected Fire Elemental Gem. ]

Then, Rainn immediately shot fire arrows at her without using a skill.

The Vampire girl widened her eyes. But she could clearly see the attack coming. So she jumped to the side to dodge Rainn's attack.

She lunged at Rainn with the same speed.

Rainn felt like he made a mistake by not using [ Angel's Accuracy (Lv.3) ] before.

[ Skill activated: Shield (Lv.4) ]

The Vampire's pair of long claws slammed into the blue energy dome that was formed in front of Rainn's body. Her eyes widened again in surprise when seeing that blue energy suddenly appear. But now it's already too late to move again.

[ Selected Fire Elemental Gem. ]

From this close range, Rainn didn't need to use skills to be accurate.

He shot the arrows made from smoldering flames at the Vampire girl.

'Swish!'

The fire arrows are equipped with Rainn's will who wants them to have as much damage as possible. What happened next, the Vampire girl's body was thrown backward and hit an iron pillar. The fire blazed and burned her body as if it had been greased with oil.

"AAAARRRGGHHH!!!"

The cry of the Vampire girl became a heartbreaking melody in this former warehouse building. The flames that burned her body created a light that suddenly made the whole place a lot brighter. Rainn walked closer to her who was still struggling like a burning rat.

Rainn knew because he had burned a rat once.

"Cough, cough," Rainn coughed a little. He was waving his hands in front of his face. "So this is what a burning Vampire smells like."

"ARGHHH!!! YOU MOTHERFUCKER! I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU!!!"

The Vampire's screams grew louder as her body thrashed about meaninglessly.

"Strange, maybe we're seeing different things right now. But I can guess very well who will die first between the two of us," Rainn said mockingly.

Rainn didn't kill her right away. He enjoyed the scene before his eyes like a pleasant pastime. The Vampire's body struggling in the flames gleamed in his dark eyes. Rainn seemed hypnotized.

"Ah, maybe I won't kill you so quickly," said Rainn.

"ARGHHH!!! KILL ME! IT HURTS! JUST FUCKING KILL ME!!!"

"What? I thought you were going to kill me. A Vampire's change of mind is fast I suppose."

Rainn watched the scene for a few minutes until he finally remembered something.

"I want to ask you something," The only reply Rainn got was a scream of pain. Rainn wondered if he could put out the fire by willing it to go out? He tried it.

Rainn stretched out his arms and willed the fire to go out. And it turns out it can. The flames that scorched the Vampire's shrunk and left a smoky charred body.

There was a loud gasp from the Vampire. Now the girl's form was unrecognizable. Rainn thought that it was because she was a Vampire that she could still live in such a state.

"Are you part of an organization called The Shadowface?" Rain asked. She didn't get an answer. Rainn creates fire arrows again. "Tell me or I'll burn you again!"

"O kk ay..." The voice came from the burning vocal cords. So Rainn knew he couldn't expect a normal voice to answer him.

"I am... A me mber of tha... That gr ou p."

"Where are they hiding? Who are the members?"

The vampire had a hard time answering.

"St. Ra pha el ch..."

"St. Raphael church?" Rainn asked. "Okay, who are the members? Give me a name."

"Ag-"

Before the Vampire could get an answer from her mouth, suddenly a purple light appeared in her chest. It wasn't long before the light grew to the point where it dazzled Rainn.

He decided to step back from the Vampire. When the light disappeared, Rainn could only see the grains remaining from her burning body. The Vampire had been shattered into pieces of charcoal and black ashes.

"Well," Rainn shrugged. "Too bad I didn't get a name. But that doesn't mean I didn't get anything."

[ Main Quest Completed! ]

Rainn smirked seeing the notification appear before his eyes.

[ Reward: 1 Gate Key (A Grade), Rod of Absorption, Lesser Key of Solomon. ]

[ 100 Exp. ]

[ Exp: 165/200 ]

Rainn knew what a Gate Key was. But he didn't know anything about the other Key. He would check again later when he got to his basement apartment.

Rainn walked back to where he put the phone. Even after the attack that hit him earlier the cell phone didn't move from its place. Even though it was an old and shabby phone, it turned out to be quite reliable.

The footage of the fight could not be recorded properly. But at least the footage when Rainn shot the Vampire's body with a fiery arrow had been recorded.

However, this is still not solid evidence. How was he going to prove that Vampire was the one who killed the noble?

Rainn wandered around the place for a few minutes. Until finally he managed to find something. It was a pen with a small logo from House Saniar. Rainn nodded with a smile.

Then he left the place with a happy feeling. He got the reward from the Main Quest. And now he will also get the reward from House Saniar.

It was raining as soon as he was outside the building. Slowly but surely the rain was getting heavier. But Rainn still walked cheerfully under the rain and thunder.
