Rainn came out of the cave and put all the gear along with the sword he just got into the Systema's Inventory. He walked limply out of the forest area to head back to their campsite. Maybe only about ten minutes or fifteen minutes had passed inside the Gate. Rainn sniffed his shirt and realized that there was no smell left on his clothes. Did that deadly smell go as soon as he exited the Gate? If so, it's very convenient.
When he arrived at the camp they were all still inside their tent. Seems to be still enjoying a nice nap in the middle of this peaceful forest.
Rainn, who is not sure about the safety of the forest, decides to stand guard alone while brewing a cup of coffee. He sat on a folding chair next to his tent to keep an eye on the situation.
He reopened Systema's Inventory to see the rewards he had previously earned. After defeating the Vampire, Rainn received a reward he didn't understand which was something called the 'Lesser Key of Solomon.'
Rainn was surprised to learn that the 'Lesser Key of Solomon' was not a key but a collection of thick books. Rainn took the books from the Inventory and surveyed their appearance.
The collection of books was tied with a black rope and looked very old. Rainn put the books on the ground because they were very heavy. On the top cover of the book, he saw a foreign inscription and symbols in the form of circles and triangles arranged in such a way. Rainn didn't know what the symbols and inscriptions meant.
He decided to untie the black cord that held the books together then took the one at the very top and opened it.
"What's this?" Rain mumbled.
The writing on it was not something Rainn had ever seen. He couldn't read it at all and could only see pictures of a terrifying mysterious creature. Rainn frowned then continued to turn the page.
But he only found various circle symbols in various forms. There was no text he could read. Rainn shook his head then tied the book back together with the other four books and put the collection of books into Inventory.
If Tut was here maybe he could get some guidance. Unfortunately, he's gone.
[ Brownwood Forest Event updated! ]
The notification appeared suddenly in front of Rainn's eyes. He was a little surprised even though he had expected it beforehand.
[ A demon summoning ritual will occur at midnight when the moon is full. ]
[ Objective: Stop the ritual before it's completed. ]
"...The fuck?" Rain mumbled. He stared at the transparent text in front of him with a deep frown.
'Will there be a demon summoning ritual?!' Rainn glanced at the tents behind him. His colleague was still fast asleep not knowing what was going on here.
If a ritual is going to happen, it means that dangerous people will come to this forest. Or maybe they were already here.
'Midnight. Let's hope they don't have any silly ideas for what to do tonight.' Rainn thought a little worriedly.
~~~
Night fell and a bonfire was lit. Warmth filled the camp area. The conversation filled up even though Rainn wasn't really that involved in the conversation. He was busy contemplating the plans for the midnight demon summoning ritual.
"Where have you been?" Nicois asked next to him. The light of the bonfire reflected in his glasses.
"Into the woods over there," Rainn said, pointing.
"What did you find?"
Rainn knew it was a small question. But there's nothing wrong with a good answer.
"Trees, bushes, and a cave." Rainn thought that was a pretty good answer. Nicois didn't say anything after that. Suddenly Vyra stood up.
"We'll go on a hunt after this."
Amia clapped her hands while Nicois looked excited. His eyes sparkled.
"Wait!" Rainn interrupted. They all turned towards him. "What exactly do you want to hunt for?"
Vyra smiled. "There's a wendigo that will appear at night. Not far from this camp."
"Wendigo?!" Rainn exclaimed. "You want to involve ordinary citizens to hunt wendigo?!"
Vyra flashed a meaningful smile at Rainn's concern. "You've never really seen my true abilities, have you?"
When he thought about it again, Vyra was right about that. Rainn had never seen that girl display her true strength before. He only knew about Vyra's reputation and had seen him beat up the bullies once or twice.
Vyra nodded as if everything had been settled. Then she took something from inside the tent. Those are two guns. Vyra gave one each to Amia and Nicois.
"You can protect yourself with that," said Vyra. Amia and Nicois celebrated each other's new weapons they received. Rainn shook his head. He didn't even know that Nicois and Amia had held guns before.
They did some preparations. Rainn went back into the tent to take the sword he had just received from the Gate and wrapped it in black cloth since it didn't have a scabbard yet.
"Where did you get that sword from?" Amia asked with a furrowed brow.
"We supernatural hunters have that kind of ability," replied Rainn lightly.
Amia was still looking at Rainn with narrowed suspicious eyes. Meanwhile, Rainn walked past her nonchalantly.
"Are you guys ready?" Vyra said. A short sword hung from her waist. Unlike Rainn's sword, Vyra's sword was double-edged and shorter than his.
"Ready!" Amia replied, looking excited while holding her gun. Nicois just nodded. While Rainn was trying to tie the black cloth that was holding his sword to his waist.
"All right. Follow me." Vyra took the lead.
Rainn looked up and saw that the full moon was indeed happening tonight. It's still eight o'clock now. Hopefully, this hunt won't be too long so he can finish the Event to stop the ritual.
Again, from behind the shadows of the forest, two human figures were staring at the four teenagers.
"Where are they going?"
"I heard they're going hunting. But it's good that they stay away."
"Well, that's right. We don't have to kill them."
"How was the preparation?"
"It'll be ready soon. The three of them are gathering enough energy for the later summons."
"Good. I had to keep an eye on them earlier so can't be of much help to you guys."
"Don't worry. You did a great job."
After that, the two figures left there heading back into the forest.
The full moon had slightly risen again once Vyra stopped. In front of them was a forest area with lots of deadwood without leaves. Soaring high in the moonlight like the ghosts of the forest.
"Prepare your weapons. Soon you will be having fun you will never forget for the rest of your life." Vyra smiled. No, rather she smirked.
That smirk Rainn had never seen before especially when Vyra's face was filled with shadows. It was as if Vyra had become a different person from what he had seen so far.
