Chapter 3 - The mad man did it because he wanted it?

If you ask Liam, he would definitely tell you the preferred the corpse man to this man looking at him like he was some sheep dragged to the slaughterhouse.

He closed his eyes as he felt all the hair on his skin rose underneath the tight straitjacket.

"This portion will end this all. I have tried my best. The king will have some other child to rule in your stead. The witches will make it possible," the man told him.

The man's eyes got redder with every word he spoke.

"You are a disgrace to the royal family and it is a pity that your name cannot be erased from history. Wait . . ."

The man paused and looked at him with his lips parted so that he could see a black tongue and his reddish eyes widened making Liam rethink his conclusion that the man was a human.

"You will always be remembered as the prince born with no magic," the man said and began laughing. The man laughed so hard that he stooped forward with his hands over his stomach.

Liam furrowed his brow. He could not believe he would one day meet one of those unbelievable villains that hate for no reason.

He did not know the face of the man looking at him nor could he remember being of a royal lineage. His grandfather was a farmer until he died only two years ago and his father officially took over the farm while still working in the city.

They must have mistaken him for someone else but the tape was not letting him speak.

The man snapped his fingers close to his lips and the tape came off.

His heart raced at the sudden release that he did not have it on his mind immediately to talk until . . .

Snap.

His lips that were once released became paused and slowly, against his wish took the shape of a funnel. The man went away while he struggled to release his mouth from the weird shape it had taken.

"You told me to help you to help the kingdom but I have done enough. You are helpless and it is making me lose my mind," the man returned and began narrating.

"No, I am not the prince or anything. I am a college student," he tried to explain but only weirdly funny sounds escaped his lips.

He furrowed his brow hoping his eyes looked as pitiful as he hoped it would be before the man pours whatever was inside the bowl, he held into his (Liam) mouth opened to take it in.

"Do you have anything to say to me, your highness?"

He sighed weakly and nodded his head beseechingly.

His mouth was released, this time without a snap. It had to be magic, one of the things he strongly believed was not real. Did this man survive the end of the world with magic?

"I am not the prince you think I am. My name is Liam and I did not ask for your help. Release me now so I could return home and I promise you that I will not report you to the cops," he tried to bargain with as much confidence he could muster.

The man laughed again and shook his head. "The prince has lost his mind. I guessed that you were insane when you asked for my help but seeing this, I know you are truly insane," the man commented.

"I promise, I am not the person you need. You've got the wrong guy, okay? Release me and we could find the prince you need," he continued to try. It was better to try than die without trying, right?

Perhaps that was why he spoke to the scientist only a few hours before the end of the world.

The man laughed and snapped when he was satisfied with the crazy amount of laughter.

The white bowl the man held was coming close to him and he knew that its content would definitely not be mineral water.

"Please, I don't want to die," he begged the man as he struggled painfully.

Another snap and his lips were paused and took that embarrassing funnel shape. He swore to have the man's head if he ever survives it.

The man frowned and he looked at Liam sadly, so sad that his eyes became clouded with tears. "I am sorry. You told me to do this to help the kingdom and to save you from your wretched life."

The man began sobbing and sat down on the bed beside Liam as he sobbed into his palm.

"I . . . I tried to be evil through it all but you know I am not evil," the man cried as he turned and looked at Liam seeking confirmation.

Liam was forced to nod as he decided that he would let him go to avoid being evil.

"I am not evil, right? Does that mean I should go on?" the man asked with brightened eyes as he stood up and brought the bowl close to him again.

"NO!!!" came out to yuuhh. He shook his head furiously horror in his eyes.

"I felt very honored when you came to me to help you although I knew that you had to be crazy to come to a crazy man like myself. Your final request for me to kill you if I failed scared me the most when I failed.

"I am sorry that I sent a letter to the palace against your will. I thought they will be powerful enough to prevent me from spilling royal blood.

"This morning, I received an order to let you rest. I am doing this for the kingdom and to ease your pain. You know I am bound by any promise I make," the man explained looking away as he spoke occasionally glancing at him and then swiftly moving his gaze away.

The man leaned down so close to his ear. "I am being watched. I must do this to save our lives," came a low whisper.

When the man stood up, he poured the liquid into Liam's mouth, down his throat.

The liquid was bitter and hot. It flowed down very easily as he could not control his tongue or his head to pour it out.

"May your soul rest in peace."

"Madman! I never asked you to kill him so soon. I wanted him to get punished for all his crimes," came a bawl so close to him.
