Logan arrived earlier than the time he told Daphne, but to his surprise, she was already waiting for him when he arrived.
Daphne could sense his nervousness even before he got to where she was standing. She laughed when she sensed this. This was almost her reaction when her father took her there the first time, but compared to Logan, she was younger then, and since her father was also a vampire like her, it made things easier.
"Nervous?" She asked as he got close to her.
Logan nodded, not even thinking of hiding it. He was traveling to a place he had no idea of, and also had to start a life where he would be introduced to things he never knew existed.
When Castiel spoke of the possibilities of werewolves, he knew he didn't really believe it since they were just myths. He only said it because, well, he wanted to say it. Now that he knew werewolves existed, he was blown away.
"No need to be. You're only going there to be registered, and also assigned a territory." Daphne said.
"A territory?" Logan raised a brow in confusion.
"Yes, you didn't think you were going to sit your butt at home after the registration did you?" Daphne rolled her eyes.
"Well, yeah." Logan nodded. He couldn't be blamed since he was just being introduced to the supernatural world, he didn't even know anything more than werewolves, yet he was going to be assigned a territory to watch over? How do they expect him to even do that?
The first time he tried fighting against another werewolf, he was beaten up. If not for Daphne's timely arrival, he might've been killed.
"Sorry to break it to you, pal, but once you get involved in this life, there's no going out." Daphne said.
"That's not fair. It wasn't like I wanted to get involved in it. Can't I just hide somewhere?" Logan asked.
"You can, but if you were found by werewolf hunters and they realize you're not part of the organization, you'll be toast. They even kill members of the organization, much less a rogue werewolf." Daphne explained.
"Wait, there's a group dedicated to hunting werewolves?" Logan asked.
"We should get going, I'll tell you all you need to know on the way. The rest, you'll find out on your own." Daphne headed into the woods.
"Wait, does that make you one as well?" Logan rushed after her.
He had always been curious as to what Daphne was. Being able to fight against a werewolf meant she wasn't human. And given the speed she used the last time, he was able to confirm his assumption.
"Not entirely. I mainly help deal with them. Actually, this town is my territory. I have to make sure all potential threats are dealt with. Any of the threats that are beyond me, I'll transfer to those above me." Daphne explained.
"There are more people like you in this town?" Logan was shocked by the discovery.
"A lot. Most of them just live regular lives, only in times of extreme danger do they come out. It's quite annoying sometimes." Daphne felt those above her were being lazy.
If she were in their position, she would ensure everyone was safe. What is worse is that the organization doesn't even try to reprimand them. This is because when they had a lower Rank, they did just as much work as Daphne.
Also, fighting against those supernatural beings of lower Ranks was beneath them. It was beneficial to Daphne's growth however.
"What are you?" Logan asked as they walked into the woods.
"A vampire." Daphne replied casually. It wasn't something worth hiding since Logan would find out later on.
"A what?!" Logan was stunned.
He was still having difficulties believing werewolves existed even though he was one. Now, Daphne was telling him she was a bloodsucking demon. It was almost unacceptable.
"Do you have a problem with vampires?" Daphne asked with an annoyed expression.
"Well, other than the fact that they have to feed on blood to survive, none other that I can think of." Logan replied.
"Oh, so werewolves are great but not vampires?" Daphne retorted.
"Not to be rude, but according to almost every supernatural book and movie, vampires are portrayed as the villains of society. Having to survive on human blood kinda makes them hated even more." Logan said his thoughts.
"And you believe those stupid books?" Daphne asked.
"Not entirely. In some books, your kind avoids sunlight, while in others, you can walk in the sun. Judging from the fact that you're currently here, I assume the sun isn't much of a problem." Logan replied.
"Don't believe everything you read on the internet." Daphne couldn't be bothered arguing with him.
Logan didn't speak much about the issue since he realized it was ticking Daphne off. It wouldn't be nice if he annoyed the first vampire he encountered.
"So, how come that guy was stronger than I am, is there a way to grow stronger?" Logan asked as they walked through the woods.
"You're still in the middle stage of Rank One, that guy has already gotten to Rank Two, and he seems to be on the verge of getting to the late stages as well. Also, having an Alpha gives him an added boost in strength." Daphne explained.
"Oh, how do you tell the Ranks, do they level up like in games?" Logan asked a series of questions.
"You'll get to learn that once you get to Rank Two. Also, yes, we do level up, but no, not like games." Daphne answered the questions patiently.
Logan might've been annoying when he asked about vampires, but he wasn't a bad person.
"Oh, how do you level up then?" Logan was genuinely curious.
Since he was part of the supernatural world now, he naturally wanted to become stronger. He was beaten up by a werewolf he wanted to stop from entering his town. How embarrassing was that?
"First off, how fast can you run?" Daphne asked.
"Huh?" Logan was confused by her question, but his expression changed when she bolted away.
Without thinking, he ran after her, trying to catch up to her.
