Amby walked into her office and greeted her colleagues who were engaged in a discussion, with a gentle smile before she sat down for the day's job. After checking the chairman's morning schedule, she left for his office.
She knocked on the door and walked in after getting a reply from him. The chairman was working on his computer and when he noticed her in his office, he looked up and smiled at her.
"A lovely morning to you, Amby. You glow this morning, care to tell me the secret?" He said and used his hand to cover the side of his mouth like he was trying to tell a secret, "I need to recommend it to my wife. She needs to glow too. These days, she is looking sick and tired." he said in a whisper.
Amby laughed a little, but her faced was replaced with shock. The chairman was in a good mood unlike how he have been for some days. Could it be Ambrosia? She widened her eyes slightly at the thought of Ambrosia letting the chairman's daughter out, which would be the first. She doesn't give any one a second chance and always kills whenever she want to. Releasing the young lady will be something she will never do. Or was the chairman happy for something else.
She looked at his happy face and shook her head in disbelief. Something was going on and she couldn't fathom what it was. The sharp voice of the chairman cut short her thoughts and she bowed to him sharply.
"You are lost in thought. Are you getting distracted cause you shouldn't." he said and dropped a file on his desk. "That is for the next meeting. Study it and put everything in order. I need it very soon."
Amby picked it from the desk and bowed slightly. She glanced at the chairman one last time and left his office.
Hurriedly, she went back to her office and immediately she sat down, she turned on her computer and logged into the internet. She searched about the update on Isabel Vladimir kidnap, but shockingly got nothing. The kidnap news wasn't on the internet.
Amby opened her mouth slightly as she read through the search topics which had nothing to do with the kidnap but just the last event the only daughter celebrated.
She clicked on the search box and typed 'The Death Forest Latest News.' but still, among the articles she saw, none of them talked about the kidnap. Few days ago the kidnap of the only daughter of the Vladimirs was all over the internet, but now nothing? As if nothing happened.
Ambrosia wouldn't release the girl so easily and only give death to her prey, so what the hell happened?
It was all so confusing that her mind was about to blow up with the thought of what happened and the possibility of Isabel been released by Ambrosia. She rubbed the back of her neck and licked her lower lip before looking at her screen again. No matter what she typed or searched for, nothing talked about the kidnap of Isabel.
"Eve, can you come over for a second." she said to her friend who rushed over and sat beside her. Eve looked at the computer screen and curiously looked at her friend. "Isabel Vladimir? Why are you searching for the princess of the Vladimirs?"
"Eve quick question? Have Isabel been released yet?" she asked earning a confused look from Eve.
"Huh? Released? Was she arrested?"
"No. I mean, she was kidnapped right? Have they found her?"
Eve stared at her for a while searching her eyes which got Amby confused with her reaction. Eve placed her hand on Amby's forehead and screamed.
"Your body temperature is high. Don't you need to go to the hospital?"
"What do you mean?" Amby asked and touched her forehead, wondering why Eve screamed so loud even though her temperature wasn't high like she said. "It's normal."
"No it's not. I think it's fever." she gasped and covered her mouth with her hands. "No wonder you are saying strange things. What if the chairman fires you if he hear you say strange things?"
"What do you mean? I am okay."
"Then why will you say the princess was kidnapped? That is a dangerous word to say."
"What do you mean? It did happened." Amby asked and looked at her screen. What was going on? The door to the office opened bringing their attention to it. Seeing the man who walked in, Amby mouth fell open and she went speechless immediately.
"Since when did we start having handsome men walk into our office?" Eve asked in a whisper.
Amby quickly stood up and bowed to the man who was smiling at her. She wasn't expecting to see Luther that time at her office and so wondered why he was in her office. He walked to her desk and rested his palms on it with a broad smile on his face which was enough to stop a beating heart. Eve elbowed her friend before she stood up and left.
"So, this is the office of the chairman's secretary?" he asked.
"Yes sir."
"C'mon now, stop the politeness. I am not the chairman."
"But you are the future chairman."
"Nah, that's for the princess of the Vladimirs." he said and sat down. He looked around the office and nodded in satisfaction. "Not bad, the chairman knows how to treat his employees well enough." His gaze met with Amby's and his lips tugged into a smile. "How are you?"
"You are fine... Sorry, I mean.....I am fine." she said and laughed in embarrassment for her mistake. She just had to embarrass herself in front of the chairman's son. Luther laughed too and continued his observations in the office.
The chairman's son isn't unhappy too but happy. It was her opportunity to ask about his sister but she wasn't confident too ask. She silently practiced the words to say but was still scared to speak out. The kidnap also has to do with her as she is the second person of Ambrosia and so, she have every right to ask about Isabel.
She took in a deep breath and looked at the man whose gazes where on her now. She swallowed the lumps in her throat and leaned forward.
"Did an incident happened in your family like kidnap?" she asked searching his face for any change in expression but there wasn't. He was only staring at her with a smile on his face. He nodded a no and sighed loudly.
"Lately, it's all been good news. Isabel will be graduating high school soon and tomorrow is her birthday so she went out for shopping with my mother. Nothing out of the ordinary happened." he searched her face and leaned forward too. "Was a threat letter sent to the chairman?"
"No, no, not that. I had a dream Isabel was kidnapped so I was worried cause it felt so real."
"Strangely I had a dream about her been kidnapped in the death forest and it felt so real too." he sighed and leaned back on his chair. "Well, it's just a dream. Nothing will happen to my sister."
Amby knew it was all Ambrosia but there must have been a price paid for it. She wouldn't set anyone free so easily, unless there is a substitute which rarely works on her. There must be something going on.
She picked up her ringing telephone and placed it on her ear. After talking to the caller, she faced Luther and bowed to him. "I will have to leave now. The chairman needs me." she said. He nodded at her and hurriedly, she left the office.
Amby opened the door to the office of the chairman and walked in. She bowed at him and remained in her posture waiting for an instruction from him. He was eating some nut and was staring at his computer.
Noticing her presence in his office, he dropped a file on the desk and told her to do that instead and that the first one was a mistake. Amby picked it up but when she was about leaving his office, her eyes fell on the chairman's children photo frame.
Luther was standing by the right, while Isabel in the middle, and the famous researcher, Darren in the...... The picture of Darren was faded. She blinked her eyes and looked at it again but it wasn't there.
"What is going on?" she asked silently. She was sure his fading away has something to do with Isabel release and so vowed to get to it immediately.
