Edwin alighted on the window sill and his eyes fell on Ambrosia whose gaze were also on him. He jumped down the window and walked slowly with his hands in his pocket to the chair opposite her. He sat down and crossed his leg, gently tapping the armrest
"What is going on? Who is that human?" he asked. Ambrosia said nothing as her eyes remained on him. She wasn't the one to answer questions from anyone, so he knew she might not answer him but still asked the question. Seeing a human in the castle was baffling and he wouldn't keep his peace for that.
Ambrosia was seating on a different chair, sideways with her right arm on the armrest and her left hand on it. Her legs were straightened and her feet crossed. She stared at him with her beautiful hazel eyes that speak threat whenever anyone looks at them. Seeing she wasn't ready to reply him, he sighed and leaned on the chair giving up on hearing from her. He will just find out himself from the man.
"What are you doing here?" she asked flatly, not moving her gaze from him.
"Can't I visit my little sister again?" he asked jokingly warning a dark glare from Ambrosia. He laughed silently and cleared his throat. "You always take things seriously. I just came to visit, that's all." he said in an almost inaudible voice which Ambrosia heard clearly.
She slammed her palms on the armrest and the room vibrated slightly. "Edwin, I am not in for your jokes." she said and stood up. "Leave my palace, or you lose your heart."
"I don't have any heart remember, I lost it the day I became a vampire." he sighed and straightened his posture. "I do have something to tell you and it's about the witches. They found out about something they can use against you but not sure what it is."
She remained still for a moment with her eyes focused on him. Edwin eyes widened slightly seeing she wasn't moving and must have gotten the message. Ambrosia never cared about what the witches do or plan against her but she seems interested in this one. He opened his mouth to say something else seeing that he got her attention, but breathed out in frustration when she disappeared from his sight. He thought that she will finally listen and take heed to the plans of the witches, but she left as usual, nonchalant about the situation.
He stood up and went to the window. His mind went to the human he saw downstairs and still wondered where he saw him. He surely looks so familiar but he don't how why he does. Now that the witches are out and have found out something to use against Ambrosia, he have to be very careful with everyone around. If they have the upper hand, then the reign of the vampires will be over. Anyone close to her might be a spy, even that human too. He will have to stay longer in the palace and watch over her. His duty is to protect the vampire queen and he will do that even if he has to pay with his life.
He jumped down from the window and landed unscathed on the ground and entered back into the castle through the door. The human man was by the window beside the door, staring at the sky with a black cat sleeping by his feet. The human shifted his gaze from the sky and looked at him.
Edwin looked at him from head to toe and sighed loudly. "You must be a spy sent by the witches to spy on Ambrosia, am I right?"
Darren let out a mocking laugh and look back at the sky, "I should be asking you and that woman this question. The famous Darren Vladimir is stuck with a crazy straight faced woman. How did I even get caught up in this mess?" he asked in a ragged voice. "Your woman kidnapped my sister and to save her life, I am caged with her."
Edwin raised his brow confused about what he said. He found it a bit unbelieving as he thought of what he said. Ambrosia kidnapped his sister? The vampire is stuck in the forest so how did she kidnap his sister? Ambrosia kills and not kidnap, that is the last thing she will ever do. She is so merciless that she doesn't give a single chance for repentance or change but kills immediately.
He put his two hands in his pocket and in the twinkle of an eye, he was standing beside Darren and his hand on his shoulder. His eyes turned red as he gazed darkly at him.
"Don't you dare lie to me."
Darren sighed lazily and pulled his hand away from his shoulder. "Your woman should explain everything to you. I am tired and really need a lot of rest right now." he said and left Edwin standing there in amazement.
The man seems bold and wasn't scared at all, which was even more suspicious. He must be a trained spy that was sent by the witches, but he will kill him before he even plans to make a move. He jumped outside the window and ran into the forest.
Darren went back to the roof top and looked towards the city which was far away. It was like stars fallen down to earth, viewing it from where he stood. His mind wondered to his family, but he waved it off and entered the room where his sister was kept and where he woke up from. He now has a new goal, expose the crazy beings and finally make sure they are annihilated. Ambrosia will be the first one he will start with.
