Days passed by quickly. It was finally the day for the dinner party so all the three Paulson brothers were there.
The courtyard was lit up by different decorative lamps and soothing music filled the entire courtyard. Different faces could be seen, some happy whereas some were jealous and some unhappy at all.
As it was night time, Jade had decided to use a wheelchair for precautionary purposes and had Troy wheel him. Neil was busy with the other guests and family friends.
Troy found a quite corner and pushed his brother's wheelchair there as their relatives sneered to the faces. Parking the wheelchair next to leather couch and helping his brother onto it, Troy poured themselves glasses of wine.
" What do you think about this party bro, I mean if you feel uncomfortable I will drive you back."
" Nothing to say but it's kinda lively judging by the noise." Jade replied after a while. As he was enjoying his wine, his parents sat by the seats opposite his.
As he couldn't see them he had to rely on his hearing.
" How have you been these past few days. Heard from Troy that you have finally decided to try therapy." His mother Connie asked him to which he replied.
" Still the same as before, just that there are reduced headaches and improved sleeping."
" That's good, son you know you can tell us anything. Your mom and I have been worried for the past few days. You didn't want to talk to anybody and even stopped butler Green from picking up our calls. I know you are frustrated with all these but we are trying to help you." His father Thomas replied this time.
Thomas and Connie had three children and they were all boys. The eldest was a doctor, the second one was a former Captain in the military and the last born was a lawyer.
" I wasn't feeling too well and wanted to be alone. I apologize for making you worried."
" That's fine just enjoy the party and when you are tired, Troy will drive you home."
They conversed with both their sons before leaving to greet other guests leaving the two boys who were later on joined by their elder brother and sister in-law Lydia.
They chatted happily until someone ruined their peaceful atmosphere.
The unwanted and unwelcome person was none other than Lizzy Morgan, Jade's ex girlfriend who was now his aunt after marrying his uncle.
She lifted up her head in arrogance as she approached the group. She stood in front of them as she scanned them as if scanning organisms under a microscope.
Her sights stopped and locked onto Jade as she lifted one side of her lips. _ 'How pathetic and pitiful'_ she thought as she sneered.
" If this isn't our proud and mighty Jade, who else could it be?, Seems as if life has been pretty hard and good at the same time for the past month. Anyway for our old times sake, I will toast to you for a happy life from now on."
Lizzy lifted up her champagne glass as she toasted to no one in particular.
" Cheers and good luck from aunty. So from now on you are my nephew." She mocked with a smile plastered on her face.
" Who is your nephew, do you think just because you married uncle you have the rights to spout nonsense. I feel sorry for my brother for he loved you blindly but what did you do in the end. You dumped him after seeing his condition and went for my uncle. Let me tell you Lizzy Morgan, you maybe part of the family but you aren't my family and will never be our aunt." Troy flared up as he couldn't contain his anger.
" Oh! hi Troy, I didn't see you just now. And as your elder I have to teach you etiquette. Since I married your uncle am naturally your aunty, don't you think so and am here to stay."
" You are nothing but a materialistic woman and a gold digger Lizzy Morgan. Am happy you left my brother before you could milk him dry. And you have no shame to dump your boyfriend for his uncle. Could it be that you are an old lady under the disguise of a young lady. That would explain why you married my old uncle." Retorted Troy as if he was the only one there.
" You, you, how could you say that to me, are you blind as well?"
" Mind your words Miss Morgan" this time it was Neil who spoke up.
" Yes be mindful of what you say. But let me tell you this, if you ever try to play any funny games, I Troy Paulson wouldn't mind destroying you even when you married my uncle. Now scram." Hollered Troy as he stood up and sat down after she left.
