Chapter 3 - The Predatory Blood Wolf Emperor

Sil kept circling and attack from above as he had before, and so far it seemed to be working. The first attack had hit in a critical location, give him a boost to damage, but since then he'd only been able to chip away at the Wolf King's health slowly. The enemy had been guarding it's vital points since that attack. The Wolf King's health was close to half now, so he hopefully didn't have to fight much longer.

The Predatory Blood Wolf King let out an ear shattering howl and began to glow with a misty blood red aura.

{Event Activated: Crimson Moon Rising}

{Objective: Survive until the Crimson Moon fades or defeat the Empowered Predatory Blood Wolf Emperor}

A flash of red light bursted in front of him leaving an even larger and more regal looking wolf in place of the previous one. It's fur now shone in brilliant tones of gold, copper, rose, and onyx. It's eyes, once shadow black, were now aglow with crimson light. and it's size had nearly tripled. So this was the Empowered Predatory Blood Wolf Emperor, he thought to himself quite impressed. Who would've thought such a God-like being existed in these early stages? And it's health bar was rapidly replenishing.

It was overpowered and had auto-regeneration? What kind of bs trick were the Game Masters trying to pull here?

Sil didn't have the time to sort things out as the Blood Wolf Emperor launched an all out offense. It started with a flurry of strikes with it's razor sharp claws, followed by the snapping of jaws. All Sil had the time to do was dodge and analyze his opponent. If he slipped once he'd be maul and that would be the end of his current adventure, and he hadn't planned on dying anytime soon.

The event timer read thirteen more hours, that was way too long to wait out, so his only option was killing this damned wolf. As much as it pained him to waste the amount of time and effort it would take to kill this monstrosity, he saw little other current options. With a heavy sigh Sil leapt off of a branch and rolled into the shadows, activating Shadow Meld. This game is hyper realistic, so it's safe to assume the vital points on a regular wolf apply to this overpowered abomination, he thought to himself. If I can hit the nape of it's neck, it's heart, or one of it's eyes twice in a row I should be able to take a significant chunk out of its life points. Well, theoretically, he shrugged as he moved towards a tree. Quickly shimmying up the trunk and back to the tree tops, he surveyed the area. He was now just over head level of the beast, he'd have to be careful not to be caught, as his scent would be right within the beasts range. But fighting on the ground came with it's own complications.

So there he was, once again swiftly and quietly leaping from limb to limb being careful to stay down wind of the beast while planning his attack. Sil leapt and leapt, somehow getting behind the beast then dove hard, his dagger poised to thrust through the spinal cord. He landed on the ground with a hard thud, his breath knocked out of him, and pain shot up his left side only to have to roll out of the way to avoid being pounced on by paws big enough to crush him.

-------

"Why do you fight little mouse?" a deep and cunning voice echoed in his mind. "It would take but a moment for you to succumb to a painless death, and yet you cause yourself suffering by continuing this farce."

The Predatory Blood Wolf Emperor could smell and sense his opponent's every move, there was no hiding now. It was just a matter of time before the little mouse tired himself out. He was but another of these new little mice to fall into den and be trapped and eaten mercilessly. The wolf chuckled deeply, amused by his own thoughts.

Now wear is that little mouse, his attention returned to the situation at hand, only to have found him gone once again.

The Predatory Blood Wolf Emperor growled in frustration, having lost his prey once again.

"Little mouse...come out and play with me..." he growled violently, "I won't kill you....right away."

He howled in pain suddenly, leaping high in to the air.

-------

Sil grinned in temporary triumph, the last strike was just what he needed. His passive ability Poisoned Blade had activated while using Flash Strike combined with Shadow Meld, and he had managed to hit a vital point. The end result? Triple damage and one badly poisoned enemy.

Hidden from within the shadows, Sil watched The Blood Wolf Emperor's health bar carefully, it was down one whole qrtr, everytime it regenerated life, the poison took effect and caused it to lose the health it had regained. This was utterly perfect. Not only was he in an area that couldn't be found without a map, meaning there wouldn't be a high chance of another player interfering with his battle, he was also fighting an enemy that had no chance of surviving the battle. So long as he planned his next few attacks carefully, this battle was all but finished.

-------

The Blood Wolf Emperor was at loss suddenly. He couldn't find his enemy, he couldn't regain health from the crimson moon, and he had been struck in his soft underbelly causing him to unbearable pain. This should not be happening to him, he was the Emperor of all Wolves of the Forest, a guardian of this world. He may not have been the most powerful of the Guardians, but surely he could kill one lowly adventurer. If he could just find him this would be over in one hit.

The wolf sniffed the air carefully, though his opponent was still lost to him. Where could such a small one hide, he thought to himself getting ever confused. He furrowed his brow and growled in frustration, he was getting hungry and being refused his meal, by the meal itself. With his patience wearing thinner than ever, he started randomly sniffing at the ground, the little mouse had to be here somewhere. There was no escaping the woods when the crimson moon arrives.

After a little time sniffing various areas both and high low he caught the scent of the adventurer strongly, but it was too late. By the time he had caught the scent, the little mouse was flying through the air, and a sharp glowing piece of metal had pierced his eye, blood flowing freely from it, while he winced in pain and jumped away.

-------

The enemy's health bar was now at half, and from it's status bar it was now inflicted with blind, a status effect that reduced it's vision by 50%. It appeared that this game was even more realistic than he had first anticipated, and that gave him quite a few ideas for this and future battles. A new plan was formulating within Sil's mind and he was certain it could executed with ease and precision. This wolf was done for, he smiled as he slipped into the shadows once again.
