Rodney managed to take Bailey home that night. Then he helped her rinse off the tear gas from her eye with cool water. After that, he asked her to get some rest, but she refused. Insisting she wanted to see Pegas at the hospital.
"He was wheeled into the theatre for surgery, that was what the nurse said to me when I called," Rodney said.
"You need to get some rest, and tomorrow we can all go to see him. I mean tomorrow is just a few hours away," he added.
Bailey reluctantly went back into her room to have a rest, while Rodney heaved a sigh of relief, sinking down on the wall beside her door. With clenched fists, he kept punching his other palm. Was there something he could have done to save Pegas, he thought. Just when he thought he still had him, Pegas shut his eyes, and his blood went cold, which meant he had succumbed to dirt.
"Fuck the whole Paramedics," he muttered.
