Karen found Jane in the living room, watching a wrestling match. "Jane." She gently called.
Jane slowly averted her gaze from the tv screen to Karen. "Yes? And aren't you supposed to be under someone's watch?" She asked her rather impatiently.
"Bella went to use the washroom or something." Karen said as she couldn't think of any other excuses.
Jane's brows creased. "She went to use the washroom or something?"
"Yes. She..."
Jane cut rudely cut Karen off. "Never mind. Well I guess you could sit quietly over there, just like a person in your condition would. That way, I can watch you without having to abandon this match." She nonchalantly said and Karen did just as told.
....
At the side of the road, very close to the Wilson's mansion, Stan's car was parked. He didn't dare drive very close, just in case they were watching out for his car.
Bella had already informed him of how everyone knows he had snuck out with Karen and that they were keeping and eye out for him.
"Hasn't she texted yet? I'm really hungry boss." Ian complained after he could no longer withstand the war that was ongoing in his tummy.
Kevin's eyes widened at Ian's sudden outburst, and he hit him slightly on the head. "Are you crazy? Do you want to risk angering the boss? You aren't the only one who's had nothing to eat." He warned him in a whisper.
"But I've no control over these blasted worms in me. They keep on rumbling and biting like the world's gonna end." Ian defended himself.
"Are you still talking?" Kevin asked with a glare and that made Ian frown hard.
"So what if I keep talking? You are not the boss of me." Ian retorted.
Kevin was about to say something else, but was silenced by Stan who had been silent the whole time. "Enough you guys!" He said softly and although he didn't raise his voice, it was still enough to silence them. "She will text me soon." He assured them.
"Yeah buddy. So stay strong." Said Kevin to Ian and he squeezed his shoulder as a form of encouragement, but Ian was in no mood so he tapped Kevin's hand off.
Not long after, the long awaited good to go message was finally sent from Bella. "Okay Ian, you know what to do." Said Stan.
"But you already assigned Kevin to do that." Ian argued.
"Wow! The last time I checked, I was the boss and I call the shots or maybe we've switched roles without me being aware of it." Stan said in a cold voice.
"No, no, no, of course you are still the boss. My handsome and very kind boss... I'll do it right away sir." Ian who had been frowning from hunger immediately smiled and tried to soothe his boss, while Kevin was trying hard not to laugh out loud.
Ian picked up his phone and dialed a number.
Meanwhile, back in the house, Jane's phone rang out. She picked up her phone to see who it was but it was an unknown caller. 'Who could this be?' She wondered and answered the call.
"Hello, who am I onto?" She asked.
Ian cleared his throat, inhaled and exhaled. He didn't want to be the reason why his breakfast would be delayed any further. "Hello Jane or should I call you Jake?" He said the first thing he could think of and only Kevin knew how hard it was for him to hold back the surging laughter Ian's choice of words had caused. Stan too wasn't exempted, as a smile also formed on his handsome face.
Jane was agitated when she heard a guy's voice at the other end and it made matters worse that the guy, whoever he was, was actually mocking her. "Who the hell are you?" She spoke with venom in her voice.
Ian laughed at his progress in riling her up. "Just some guy who's heard about the popular Miss, sorry I meant Mr Wilson. How you turn guys to punching bags at the slightest infuriation and how much fun you get from it... Why don't we meet up? You know, man to man." He teased her further.
"Sure! Where do you wanna meet." She asked as she stood.
"At the dojo. The popular one." Ian replied.
"I'll be there." She said with clenched teeth and was already charging towards the door.
"Wait! You don't even know how I look like and you are already leaving?" Ian asked with a smirk.
Jane paused in realization of how stupid her anger had made her. She was literally heading to the dojo without asking for a pic of him. "Text me a pic, dummy!" She growled and ended the call.
Kevin finally bursted into laughter "Oh my GOD, that was really hilarious." He said while holding his stomach which was aching as a result of his laughter.
"She automatically turns dumb when angry. Who on earth goes to meet someone he or she has never met before just because the person proposed a fight? I seriously do hope she doesn't have enemies planning to do some crazy shit to her, cuz it won't be hard to do, especially when she is driven to her state of madness." Ian shook his head.
"Good job. Ian." Stan commented and Ian felt like he was on top of the world and he threw Kevin a mocking look.
Ian searched through his photos and just picked a random photo of a guy and sent it to Jane.
Jane left the house immediately she saw the pic Ian texted. Forgetting about everything and everyone except the task at hand.
Karen who was sitting there quietly was surprised by Jane's sudden display over a phone call and just watched how Jane left the living room and out the door.
She suddenly remembered that Bella talked about a distraction. Was that the distraction? She wondered. Her eyes trailed off to the stairs and she saw Bella standing there.
When their eyes met, Bella smiled and gave her a thumbs up, indicating that she was good to go, but Karen obviously didn't get the message and just gave Bella a thumbs up too.
Bella knew how much self control she exuded to have stopped herself from rolling her eyes. She sighed and whispered "Go." She also pointed to the door so Karen would understand.
Karen finally understood this time around and went straight for the door.
….
Not long after Ian texted Jane the pic, they saw Jane leaving the house. She wore a black hoodie and covered her head. She also wore short knickers and a pair of sneakers and was heading towards the direction opposite to where Stan's car was packed.
"And next to come out would be the princess… Hopefully." Kevin said.
There was a slight movement at the gate, and they all sat up, expecting Karen to walk out the gate. "Please be Karen, please be Karen, please be Karen.." Ian said continuously until the person at the gate was finally outside. "Thank goodness, she's finally here." He sighed in relief.
"I'll go get her, boss." Ian volunteered as he couldn't wait to leave this place already, but Stan stopped him.
"I'll do that myself." He got off the car and ran to Karen when he saw the confusion on her face, which was surely because she didn't see anyone when she got outside.
"Hey babe." He said when he had gotten close enough and Karen was surprised to see him. "Miss me?" He asked while still walking towards her.
Karen nodded and he was pleased with her answer.
"It was harder to get you out today than the last time. I don't know why it's so. Maybe it's because you spilled our little secret." He said with a smirk and Karen looked away from him, looking at her shoes.
"No worries, apologies accepted." He said, even when she hadn't said a single word of apology. He suddenly realized something and his smile widened. "Wow! The new Karen is really obedient. You took off those ridiculous bandages like I told you to. I like that."
Karen smiled and looked back at him.
"Okay, let's go eat at one of my favorite restaurants before we get caught and all I went through would be for nothing." He said and held her hand, but what Karen did next surprised him.
She peeled her hand from his loose grip, making him raise his brows questioningly. He wondered if this was an episode as a result of her head injury. He knew patients suffering from head injuries, especially memory loss were likely behave abnormal at times.
"What's wrong?" He asked her cautiously.
Karen kept quiet for some seconds before saying "I don't want to cheat on Hendrick… He's my husband."
Stan stilled on hearing her words. He wasn't quite sure she said what he just heard but his mouth could only unconsciously part open.
A/N: I can imagine the look on Stan's face, lol 😂
