Chapter 39 - Chapter 39

3rd Person's Pov

Avyanna's eyes flamed, seeing Yelena and Diane had a knife pointed at their necks.

Her grip on Rhis tightens.

She could feel her airways getting blocked. She couldn't breathe.

"I-if you k-kill me... I'll make s-sure they f-follow me." Rhis hardly said anything, still threatening Avyanna.

Avyanna loosens her grip as Rhis gasps for air.

"Let them go." She coldly ordered.

"Make me." With a wide grin, Rhis challenged.

Avyanna was a fool. She didn't know that Diane could be used against her. She loves Yelena, so all her attention was on her and protecting her.

But Diane was someone she and the real Avyanna treasured. She is a kind and honest friend. She's not just a maid to her.

No matter what happened, she knew Yelena would be saved. Why? Because Yelena has her mythical beast, Hunter, and a protective necklace she gifted her on her birthday.

But what about Diane?

She couldn't think rationally, and there was the lightheadedness. Her time is also running out.

What could she do in this situation?

"M-my lady... I-I'm fine... J-just save L-lady Royal." Diane bravely said, stopping her sobs. Even if she was trembling.

"That's right! Save our Lady! Why bother thinking about a lowly maid!" A noble shouted.

"That's right. Didn't you love your villainess the most?" Rhis exclaimed, hysterically laughing.

Avyanna clasps Rhis' neck before throwing her away. The events happened quickly.

"Hunter!"

As Avyanna yelled, a black beast appeared and attacked the man hostaging Yelena. While she ran to Diane with a blade made of water on her hand, she killed the man instantly by cutting his neck.

As if time is slowly ticking by. After Avyanna kills the man, she falls on the ground.

"Avy!!!"

*******

Many people mourned a month after that day because there were many injured people and some who died, as the high society was quiet and no special occasions occurred.

Roshan River was found injured with a cut on his chest. The Duke of Nathan held Rhis captive and was investigating the situation further.

However, they couldn't get any. The temple has nothing to say, and they can't be arrested because of the law providing that those who worship can't be held captive.

Nevertheless, Rhis was thrown away by the temple. Their guilt for listening to her led to people dying. They later realized that Rhis might be the demon just controlling them.

Rhis was said to be mentally ill because she kept on calling herself the god who created them all. No one obviously believed those.

France and Arci were slightly injured. They have burns on their arms, but because they were protected by the palace knights, they weren't badly affected.

Yelena took care of Avyanna, who has not been regaining consciousness up until now. She comes to the clinic to take care of Avyanna.

She, herself, wasn't injured, but she felt like she was going to lose her mind.

'She's alive and well... That's all that matters.' She thought while holding Avyanna's hand tightly.

"Lady Royal." Diane entered the room. "I got you lunch. You should eat."

Diane's voice was low as she placed the tray on the table. She's affected by this incident too. She's been blaming herself for making her mistress fall into the state she's in right now.

"You should eat, too. Avy would not want to be seen like this." Yelena's voice was flat and had no emotion at all.

"I... I will." Diane hesitated.

"Do it and not just say it." Yelena said, indifferently.

Diane nodded but she stood there steadily.

"I'm sorry. It's all my fault." Diane started to sob as tears starts dropping from her eyes to the floor.

Yelena turned her gaze to her and furrowed.

"If I could blame you, you're being beheaded by now... But, Avyanna saved you. Don't forget that." She then turned around.

"Avy, wake up now. Everyone is worried about you." Yelena murmurs.

Two months.... Three.... Four....

Winter is almost over and Avyanna hasn't woken up.

Yelena is so busy with her duties in high society that she rarely comes by to visit Avyanna.

"Roshan.."

Yelena carefully hugged Roshan. Although his scar is healed, Yelena is still frightened because when she saw it, it looked so severe.

"Is she not awake yet?" Roshan asked.

Yelena shakes her head slowly.

"She might be just really tired. She might wake up soon." Roshan said, comforting her.

"I hope so..." Yelena looked down and sighed.

"How about you? How are you these days?" Roshan asked.

"So busy, I don't know how to tell Father that I should just retreat from claiming the throne and just take his place as Duke." She said, sighing for the second time.

"Me too..."

Yelena raised her head to see Roshan. He has a sad smile.

"You...too?"

"I might revoke my position as a Marquis and give the position to my little brother." He said.

"What? Why so suddenly..." Yelena was so bewildered that she stood up from her seat.

"You know me and Andie..." He smiled widely. However, there was a slight sadness.

"Oh, right." She smiled. "You really want to live with him?"

"Hmm." He nodded. "He can't leave his position because he has no other siblings. But I have, so.."

"I'm not going to judge your decision. I'm okay with it since you might be happy being with the Duke."

"I'll wish you luck with your decisions, too. I also hope for Avyanna to wake up faster to support your decisions."

"Thank you."

Yelena immediately ran down the mansion's hallway after getting a letter.

"Call for a carriage!" She ordered.

There was a wide grin on her lips, and she was excitedly running.

Lady Royal,

Lady Avyanna Brooke has finally regained consciousness. If you would, please come here to see her.

Sincerely,

Diane

She almost ordered the carriage to fly in so she could get to the hospital faster.

She couldn't explain her feelings. She's happy and nervous. She's excited and scared.

As soon as she arrived, she ran up the stairs on the second floor to Avyanna's room.

She was catching her breath when she stopped at the door.

She opened it and saw the long purple waves as the chilly air entered from the window.

"Avy..."

The woman slowly turned her head, and Yelena couldn't help but run to her and hug her immediately.

"Oh, Avy. You don't know how much I missed you." She sobs, hugging her tightly.

She pulled away, crying.

Avyanna's face was shocked and she didn't speak.

"Are you still in pain? Do you need a healer? I-I'll call for one." She quickly said.

"My Lady."

She stopped and laughed. "My Lady? Just call me Yena, like you used to."

"No... Uhmm.." Her eyes kept on turning back and forth.

Yelena didn't know that her next words would leave her dumbfounded.

"I-I'm not the Avyanna you knew."

"What?"
