''I said stay away from me!'' Alison yelled and a red circle suddenly appeared around her. The red circle emitted fire, acting as a protective wall, shielding her from Alena. The force that came from the red circle lifted Alena up and threw her at a far distance and she yield.
The red circle started glowing, building up into a hollow space. It surrounded Alison, eventually sucking her in.
''How could this be?'' Alena muttered as she watched in shock. Alison had just disappeared right before her eyes. This was the red circle that Kaadie used to have. It was some sort of protective circle that appeared whenever Kaadie was in danger. As long as that circle appeared, it was capable of killing any evil spirit that threatened her.
Alena moved back and fell on her back restlessly. She turned when she heard a voice coming from the well.
''You are still weak, Alena. How do you expect me to serve you when you can't even get me a soul to inhibit?''
''I… I will get her. She… she is just a human girl. What power can she possibly have?'' Alena said and let out an awkward chuckle.
The dark smoke in the well snorted.
…..
Four days later…
Alison opened her eyes and saw herself in bed. She looked around and saw Lucia standing by the bedside.
''Alison, you are awake.'' Lucia said and touched Alison's forehead. She let out a deep relief. ''Thank goodness, your fever is done.''
''Lucia, what happened to me? I feel like I was in some weird place and some really strange woman wanted to kill me.'' Alison sat up and asked.
''Alonso called me a few days ago because you weren't waking up. You fainted. Don't worry, the doctor just left. he said you will be fine after taking a rest.''
''A few days ago? How long have being like this?'' Alison asked and pointed at her phone. ''Get me my phone.''
''You've being out for four days now. Since you hate going to the hospitals, I didn't bring you there. I called my doctor and he's being checking on you since then. Tell me, how do you feel?'' Lucia gave the phone to Alison and sat next to her.
''I'm fine. Apart from my memory being a little hazy. Oh!'' Alison exclaimed.
''What is it?'' Lucia asked.
''I… I missed going to the boss' house to clean and cook. I've being out for four days which means I missed two days' worth of work.''
''That… I called your company and asked for a few days leave on your behalf. The secretary was quite worried. He said you could take the rest of the week off and recover. So, don't worry about that.''
''You did? Thank you, Lucia.'' Alison hugged Lucia and kissed her cheeks.
''That's enough! You must be hungry, I will order something for you to eat. Alonso is already gone to school so there is no one to cook. Or do you want me to fix something for you?''
Alison shook her head. ''No! Let's order the takeaway. I don't want to visit the ER this time because of food poisoning.''
''Hey!''
''I'm already sick. Do you want to kill me with your food? Even the earth would reject the food you cook.''
''Tsk! Ungrateful friend. I stayed here and took care of you for four days and this is how you repay me? You ungrateful wench!'' Lucia said and stood up.
''Are you mad?'' Alison asked.
''Forget it! Even I wouldn't want you to land in the ER again. I will make the order. Take a rest, I will bring you water to drink.''
''Yes, Ma'am!'' Alison smiled. She picked the phone on the bed and went into her QQ chat. She pouted her lips when she didn't see any new messages.
''Right! He was also hurt because of me. But… how could he not even call or send me a message?'' Alison shook her head.
''Should I call first?'' Alison sighed and placed the phone on the table. She was about to lay down again when she heard the phone ringing and she picked it up again.
''Oh… it's him! What is this? Does he have super powers? How did he know to call just when I woke up?'' Alison cleared her throat and answered.
''Hello…''
Walden was looking outside his window in the office when he made the call. He didn't think she was awake yet but he just wanted to try. Perhaps, he missed and wanted to see if she was awake yet or not. When he heard her voice, a heavy weight seemed to have being lifted off his chest.
Walden's lips curved into a smile and he asked. ''Alison, you are finally answering. How are you? What happened to you?''
''I… Nothing much. I will explain when I see you. I'm sorry I disappeared for the last four days. How… how is your hand?'' Alison asked.
Walden seemed to have noticed some kind of hesitation in her voice. As if she was feeling guilty and unsure of something.
''It's fine. Don't worry about my hand. Where are you now?'' Walden looked at his wrist as he asked.
''I'm at home. You? Are you at work? Is it okay to be talking to me while you are at work?''
''It's okay! I'm not busy right now. I was worried about you. Because I don't even know which apartment you lived in, I didn't know what to do. I tried calling you several times but your number was off.''
''Lucia must have turned my phone off to avoid disturbances. Is that why he couldn't get in touch?'' Alison muttered and sighed.
''I live in apartment 3030.''
''Apartment 3030? I will be there soon.'' Walden said and hung up.
''Oh?'' Alison looked at the phone in her hands and Lucia walked in.
''What is it? You look like a lost sheep.'' Lucia asked.
''I… my friend just asked me where I stayed. When I told him, he said he was on his way.'' Alison said and blushed.
''Your friend, the same one gave you his loungewear? Alison, you and this friend…'' Lucia sat on the bed and asked.
''No! There is nothing going on. We are… we are just normal friends. Nothing more, nothing less.'' Alison said but the blush on her face begged to differ.
