Alison placed the cup of water on the table and smiled awkwardly. She scratched her hair shyly and asked. ''You brought all these for me?''
''Yes, I didn't know what to buy because I haven't visited a sick person before, so I just bought some fruits and health tonics. I asked my doctor friend and he recommended those.'' Walden said as Alison opened the white poly bag to remove the tonics and fruits.
''Whoa! I think you bought all the health tonics in the world, Walden. This must have cost a lot of money.''
''As long as you like it.'' Walden smiled when he saw her cheerful face.
''My nanny granny used to buy me a lot of health tonics when I was little. This just reminds me of her. Thank you, Walden. This means a lot to me.'' Alison smiled as she held the poly bag on her laps.
''How are you feeling now? What did the doctor say?'' Walden leaned over and touched Alison's forehead and her froze.
Alison's heart started beating fast and she stood up abruptly. ''I… I'm fine. The doctor said I was just dehydrated and passed out.'' She said and walked to the kitchen with the fruits.
''Then, that means you need to take a lot of fluids. I will order more fruits for you…'' Walden followed her and stood across the kitchen table as he spoke.
''There is no need for that. I think this is enough. You don't have to spend a lot of money on me. You are just a driver, don't be wasting your money on unnecessary things.''
''I am not wasting my money and what I'm doing is not unnecessary. I'm doing it for you. Didn't you say that we were friends? Then, don't friends do this for each other? Unless you don't really see me as a friend…'' Walden said with a downcast expression.
Alison bit her lips and stepped out from the kitchen. She moved closer to Walden. 'I… that's not what I meant.''
''It… seems that the only person who sees us as friends is me, right?'' Walden asked.
''No!'' Alison smiled awkwardly. ''That's not what it is. You are my friend. I just… didn't want you to spend your hard earned money on me. We are both not earning much. If you spend all your money on me, then, what about your parents? Your siblings or your girlfriend?''
''I don't have parents. They passed away a long time alone. I don't have siblings either and… I don't have a girlfriend.''
Alison flushed. ''You… don't have a girlfriend? Why?''
''Do I need a reason for not having a girlfriend?''
''Yes. You are handsome, how is it possible that you are still single? Don't you have ladies at your company?''
''I don't really pay attention to them. I just go there to do my job.''
Alison sighed and shook her head. ''You… you really surprise me. First, I thought you weren't human because you didn't give me human vibes. Then, I thought you were a rich heir because you gave off such vibes and now… you don't have a girlfriend? Wait! You are not into men, right?''
''Hey!'' Walden held Alison's hand and pulled her closer. His eyes became a little dark as he said to her. ''I. Love. Women! Don't you ever say such a thing in front of me again. Unless you want me to show you how much I love a woman's body.''
''I…'' Alison stepped back. ''I'm sorry. I was just messing with you.'' For a moment, Alison was scared. For a brief moment, she thought she saw his eyes change but it came and went so quickly that she felt her mind was playing with her.
Walden came back to his senses and apologized. ''I'm sorry, did I hurt you?'' He tried to touch Alison but she stepped back. Then, he realized that he might have gone far with his approach. Walden went to the hall and picked his coat and said to her.
''I think it's better for me to leave. I'm sorry for hurting you, Alison.''
''I…'' Alison watched as he left the apartment in haste. She sighed and muttered. 'Why do I feel that he is not human?''
….
That night…
Lucia got down from her car and went towards the club. She was dressed in a black skinny jeans and a fish sharped velvet top and ten inches booth that strapped all the way to her knees.
Lucia was in the queue when she felt somebody behind her. She turned and saw a young man.
''Hello, beautiful! Here alone?'' The young man asked.
Lucia looked at him from head to toe and ignored him. She removed her membership card and showed it to the bouncer at the entrance before going in.
The young man followed suit. When Lucia sat across the counter, the man joined in the next chair.
''The usual, thank you!'' Lucia said to the bartender.
''Seems you come here often. This drink is on me.'' The man said.
''I have money for pay for my own drinks.'' Lucia finally spoke.
''Come on, let me buy you a drink. Who knows, I could also buy you a lot of other things. Hermes bag, Birkin bags, Mugler outfits?'' The man kept naming all the popular brands.
The bartender placed a glass of cocktail on the table across Lucia saying, ''I made it a little softer tonight since you are alone.''
''Mm, thank you!'' Lucia nodded and picked the glass. She sipped a bit and smirked. ''I like it!''
''You are welcome!'' The bartender said and turned to leave.
''I will have the same thing.'' The man said.
''Sir, this is not an ordinary cocktail. You might want to try something else…'' The bartender suggested.
''What? Hey, just get me the same thing and mind your business. Who are you to tell me what to drink and what not to drink?'' The man asked, a little annoyed at the bartender.
''If he wants the same thing, get it for him. There are a lot of people who are witnesses to his request.'' Lucia said and gulped down the entire glass of cocktail.
''Whoa! You really can hold your own. How about we go to the dancefloor? Sweat out a little.''
''Hey! Don't you think you are being rude?'' Lucia asked.
''What?''
''Unless you want to be label a pervert and predator, stop harassing me.'' Lucia said to him.
