''What?'' Walden asked coldly.
''Well… I indeed fell due to my own carelessness, but the second fall could have being prevented if you had helped me which you didn't. Look at my baby skin, I got hurt.'' Alison pointed at her legs and hands.
''So?'' Walden gave her a questionable gaze.
''So? Why are you so difficult? If you caused me to fall, shouldn't you apologize and find out how I am doing? But you are just going to walk away? Don't you have… forget it, you just said you are not a human being, so I don't expect you to feel pity for me.'' Alison glared at him,
''Get to the point!'' Walden said impatiently.
''Compensate me!'' Alison said and stretched her hand.
Walden turned to look at Alison for the first time. Something about her didn't seem right. He couldn't read her and her eyes felt familiar but he didn't allow himself to dwell in those things for long.
Walden didn't say anything. He reached inside his suit and removed his wallet. He opened it and removed a few dollars.
Alison smiled and opened her palms ready to receive the money but Walden threw the money on the ground and turned to go. He was forcefully stopped by Alison again. This time around, she held his hand and his phone ended up falling along with hers.
''What are you doing?'' Walden asked angrily.
''Sir, don't you know you don't throw money away like that? I was just messing with you but you really gave me money? Forget it, I don't need your money. I will forgive you, since it's my birthday.'' Alison said and bent down to pick her phone.
''Be careful, if I were you, I wouldn't go out tonight.'' Walden said before taking his phone. He looked at Alison and walked away.
None of them knew that their phones were exchanged.
''What is wrong with him? No, what is wrong with everyone today?'' Alison shook her head and kept the phone in her pocket before going to take her basket and things.
….
''Nanny granny, it's being a while. I hope you are doing well on the other side? I am not fine. Everything has been messy for me. Nanny granny, I met weird people today. One wanted my blood and the other told me to be careful. Tsk! What is there to be careful about?''
Alison looked at the skies and sighed, ''it's going to rain again. I better hurry up.''
Alison stood up and started picking the fruits to set up the memorial. She turned and saw a bundle of velvet rose flowers on the grave. She didn't see it when she first arrived.
''Oh? Who kept this here?'' Alison looked around but didn't find anyone. She went back to setting up the memorial.
….
Walden massaged his temple as he sat in the car. He looked tired and stressed out so Ali asked.
''Boss, are you alright? You seem tired.''
''Nothing, I'm fine.'' Strangely, he was still thinking about the girl with no future. When he looked at her earlier on, he only saw her death date which was today.
''Alright''
''Ali, did you see the woman who entered inside the graveyard?''
''A woman? I didn't see any woman go into the graveyard. She must have entered while I was on the phone. Sorry, next time I will be careful.''
''No, it's alright!''
''Boss, did she so anything to you?'' Ali became worried and asked. His boss was always stalked by women who wanted to date him.
''No, she didn't really do anything but I couldn't read her thoughts. She is supposed to die today but I didn't see when or where she died.''
''That is strange, is she one of us?'' Ali turned to ask.
''No, she is a human being. That's what is strange. Normally, I would know her thoughts right away and be able to see her past, present and future but I didn't see any of that. I only say her time of death and it's at midnight.''
''What could she be, then?''
''A strange human being that can't be read'' Walden muttered and closed his eyes. He looked at the window and saw the rain drizzling.
''I told her to be careful.'' Walden muttered.
…..
''Aisssh, it's raining.'' Alison muttered and started packing up the things. She finished and ran out of the graveyard with the umbrella over her head.
It was hard to catch a bus or taxi at that part of the town so Alison had to walk in the rain to the bus stop. It didn't also help that she missed the first bus and had to wait for the second and last one.
Alison sat on the waiting bench with her basket. She sighed and touched her stomach when she heard a groaning sound.
Alison turned to look at the apples and removed one. She stood up and went to wash it under the rain before she went back and sat down to eat it.
Eating the apple under the rain, Alison looked quite pitiful. She looked homeless and rejected.
The phone in her bag started ringing. At first, Alison didn't recognize the ringtone so she ignored it. She stood up when she saw the bus approaching.
Alison picked her things and got into the bus. She found an empty seat and sat down. Without thinking much about it, Alison bowed her head to take a nap but the phone started ringing again and she frowned.
''Whose phone…'' Alison paused when she felt the vibration from her bag. She quickly took the phone out and noticed right away that it wasn't her phone.
''Whose phone…'' Alison's mind went to the man she met earlier on at the graveyard. She realized they had mistakenly exchanged phones so she answered the call right away.
''Where are you, woman?'' Walden's voice came through.
''Is that you, sir? I mistakenly took your phone.'' Alison replied.
'I asked where you are? I will go there and take my phone.''
''I'm on my way home. I'm in the bus going home.''
"You are still at the graveyard?''
''Yes, the rain came suddenly so I didn't have time to leave early. I just took the last bus and I'm going home. I will call you once I get home.'' Alison said and hung up.
