Chapter 476 - Take it easy

Wura quickly brushed the the loose strands of hair that had escaped the confines of the ponytail braid that Nora had neatly braided for her.

Oh bless Nora and her kind, considerate heart, she knew just how much Wura complained of taking care of her hair that as soon as Wura had woken up and taken her bath, she quickly proceeded to braid Wura's hair into this protective hairstyle.

Wura could not thank her enough for that, she made living with her hair easier to handle. Wura just loved Nora so much and she was sure that Nora could never know how much she truly meant to her.

Wura finished brushing her hair as she let out a hurried sigh, she was in a rush. Today was a new day and she had so much that she was still yet to do. There were still so many things she wanted to accomplish, and she did not have enough time to do it all.

They were leaving early tomorrow morning. Just thinking about it made Wura sad, she would have wished that they could have stayed longer, but she knew that was not possible, she agreed to all Mero's conditions, and even though it would make her sad to leave, she also knew that it was best that they both returned to the camp immediately, she could not risk hearing any bad news right now. She was not sure if she would be able to handle it.

Wura sighed again. It seemed that she had been doing a lot of sighing for the past few weeks, and it was honestly just a cry of tiredness at this point. For now what she had to focus on was what was important.

Wura turned to look for a mirror when she realized that she was not in her usual tent back at the camp, so certainly there was not a mirror just lying around.

Oh well she did not really care for what she looked like. She was sure that she looked fine. After all she was not here for a ball, she was here to help and show support.

Which got her thinking about all her plans. Something she really wanted to do was at least try to start rebuilding the village. She knew that right now that was not a priority due to many valid reasons, but she still had her reservations about that.

She did know that the tents provided more than enough temporary shelter for everyone, but she could not help but worry for when the rainy season began. The tents would not be able to stand such intense showers, and everything and everywhere would be wet and that would bring more suffering more than anything.

Regardless of that, at the same time, Wura knew that she could not discuss this with Mero, she knew that he would tell her to hold off on all her plans for rebuilding. After all the East were still very much a threat, and who was to say that they would not try to strike again? After all they had done it once, there was a high chance that they would do it again.

While Wura was in the midst of her raging thoughts, the sound of Mero calling out to her startling the living life out of her. For a moment she had forgotten that she was inside and that Mero was right close to her.

"Wura are you in there?" called Mero again as Wura quickly composed herself as she replied.

"Yes, I am here, give me a moment, I will be out shortly." said Wura as she heard Mero reply positively, but she was not really sure about what he said.

Wura quickly brushed her hair one more time, she dusted off any hidden dust hiding on her clothes and she walked out as she squinted her eyes, adjusting to the morning sun's bright rays.

"Good morning Wura." said Mero as he smiled at her, he seemed to be in a particularly happy mood, and unconsciously it was making Wura's mood better as well.

"Good morning Mero." she replied with a beaming smile.

"How was your night?" he asked.

"Good, and how was yours?" asked Wura with a smile.

"Good as well." he replied, suddenly causing Wura to remember one of her last thoughts before she fell asleep.

She almost felt like hitting herself, why think about such things now? Wura quickly shrugged off her thoughts and focused on the task at hand.

"So Mero, today I have plans to visit all those that were harmed in the attack, oh and also want to discuss a few things about the rationing, and also some—" said Wura as she was lightly cut off by Mero.

"I know that you want to do a lot of things today Wura, but..." said Mero as he quickly made his tone softer as soon as he saw the displeased look on Wura's face once he mentioned the word 'but'.

"But I think that you need to take it easy, I know that you have good intentions and ideas and you want to get things done, but you need to slow down, you have the entire day to accomplish everything you want to accomplish." said Mero as his delicate, soft tone prevented Wura from flaring up.

How could she argue with him when he did not say what he said in a rough aggressive manner, rather it was a tone of understanding and yet reason.

"I know Mero, but you are wrong, I do not have all day, time waits for no one and I feel as if the hours are slipping through my hands." said Wura as she calmed herself down and spoke gently.

"And may I remind you that today is our last day here, by this time tomorrow we would have left for the camp already, and that is why I want to make sure that I get everything done before we have to leave." said Wura as she explained.

"I know that today is our last day, and even though you may not be able to accomplish everything you want to, I am sure that you will be able to accomplish some." said Mero.

"And I have no intention of stopping you, in fact I am ready to help you with whatever you need help with." said Mero as he smiled and his words made Wura smile, she was about to say something when she realized that he had not finished speaking.

"But as eager as you are my Queen, you forgot something very important in your list of what you intend to do today." said Mero as Wura frowned, searching through the deep recesses of her mind for what something very important that she could have possibly forgot, but she could not remember anything.

"And what is that?" she asked, she could not remember anything important that she supposedly forgot.

"You forgot the most important meal of the day." said Mero as Wura narrowed her eyes at him, still not following along clearly.

"Breakfast?" she asked as he nodded and then she sighed.

"Wura, we had a deal, you cannot start skipping breakfast now, yesterday was an exception since we had to leave early, but now before you decide to do anything, please have breakfast first." said Mero as Wura chuckled lightly.

"Alright, alright, I will admit that I forgot about eating, but let me tell you that I had no intention of intentionally skipping breakfast, it just slipped my mind, I keep my promises Mero." said Wura as Mero looked at her.

"I know." he replied, not from experience, but from a fact, a feeling that Wura was not one to say something and then go back on her words.

"So yes, I will eat before I go out." said Wura as she smiled and Mero nodded, looking happy about that.

"I could join you for breakfast if you wish." said Mero as Wura's face lit up at the possibility of not eating alone as she always had for the past few months.

"Yes, that would be lovely Mero, thank you." said Wura as she smiled, trying not to show how excited she was on the inside that she would finally have someone to dine with.

Mero also was finding it extremely difficult not to smile. It was as if his face had a mind of its own, and he found himself expression every emotion on his face in front of Wura, he did not like that one bit. Something was definitely wrong somewhere.

"Alright, then we should—" said Mero as he was hardly cut off by the abrupt voice of one of the guards that rushed to him and greeted Wura a good morning before turning to face him.

"Sir Mero, good morning, I am sorry to bother you so early but—" said the guard as Mero cut off him.

"What is it?" asked Mero in a harsh tone, harsher than he had intended, but he just did not like how he was interrupted like that.

"There is something very urgent that needs your attention." said the guard as he quickly spoke up and Mero turned to look at Wura as she was already looking at him with questions written all over her face.
