The next morning.
Wura let out an exasperated sigh as she felt like banging her head against her desk, what she had done and told Mero yesterday was the worst thing that she could have ever done.
After she had ran from Mero last night, she realized that confessing her feelings had mostly caused more problems than reduced them, she shouldn't have said anything, she should have kept silent, she should have remained suffering in silence.
Because now, at this point in time, Wura was sure that Mero saw her as an unstable woman, she had literally shouted at him, she had displayed herself as someone who had no self control, and all while he was just trying to help her.
"What is wrong with you Wura? What is wrong with you??" asked Wura to herself as she groaned, she was a mess right now, her feelings were a mess.
Why could she just not keep them all to herself? Why could she not hide her feelings when she really wanted to, why did she have to open her big mouth and tell Mero?
Why was she so blunt? She hated that she was so blunt, she hated that how she was feeling just showed so easily on her face, she hated that she was easy to read.
Nora had seen her this morning and had asked her what was wrong, and Wura could not bring herself to tell her the truth, she only avoided the question and ate breakfast.
Wura groaned once more, she really hoped that she had scared off Mero so badly that he would not try to talk to her again, but knowing Mero, she doubted that he was truly leave her alone.
Wura groaned once more and closed her eyes, why was her life just filled with so many problems? Why did she cause many problems for herself? Why did she have to suddenly develop feelings for Mero??? Why, why why??
In the midst of her groaning and thinking, Wura did not hear that someone had just stepped into her office.
Mero stepped into Wura's office after minutes of being outside the tent, contemplating whether a night's rest was enough to make Wura calm down.
But in the end, he just decided that it would be better to face her now, he longer he left her to speculate on how he felt by what she had told him would only make things worse, and he did not want that.
"Good... Morning my Queen" said Mero in a soft voice as Wura's eyes jolted open as she jerked in surprise as she was startled.
"Me...Mero?" asked Wura in disbelief as she did not expect him to be here... who was she lying to? She did not expect him to be here so early, she had purposely left her room early so he would not be able to find her there, but clearly it would seem that Mero knew that she would be here.
"I am sorry for startling you my Queen, I would have knocked but there are no doors" said Mero apologetically as Wura laughed sheepishly.
"Right... it is fine Mero, Good Morning, what brings you here?" asked Wura as she quickly composed herself and smiled, maybe if she pretended that yesterday did not happen, maybe Mero would go along with it as well.
"May I have a seat?" asked Mero as Wura looked at the seat across her and then at him as she nodded.
"Thank you" said Mero as he sat down.
"My Queen, I would like to speak to you about something important" said Mero.
"Oh I see, have the East done something again?" asked Wura as Mero shook his head.
"Not this time, I actually want to speak to you about something personal" said Mero as Wura's eyes went wide in horror when he said that, this was exactly what she was avoiding, a confrontation.
"Personal how?" asked Wura as she composed herself, there was no need raising a false alarm, maybe Mero just wanted to talk to her about something else.
"Personal as in..." said Mero as he took a pause, he did not want to scare her off, last night she seemed so frustrated, he didn't want her to feel like that or pressured when he was here.
"Actually, I would like to talk to you about last night Wura" said Mero as his switch from the titles made Wura feel scared, he was here to talk about what she told him yesterday, how horrible, she felt like getting up and leaving right now, but running would only make him think worse of her, she knew that.
"What about last night Mero?" asked Wura as she looked at him.
"Last night you really did not seem well, are you alright now?" asked Mero first of all, as he was genuinely concerned for her well being.
"Oh... Mero I am fine now, very fine" replied Wura.
"I am glad" said Mero as Wura forced a smile.
"Wura, you said a lot of things yesterday... things about how you are feeling" said Mero as Wura felt like it was getting harder to breath as she looked away from him.
"Did I now...? I do not remember Mero, maybe what I said was all nonsense" said Wura as she laughed sheepishly, but the worried look on Mero's face did not change at all.
"That is not true Wura, nothing you say is nonsense" said Mero as Wura sighed.
"I am glad that you hold me in such high regard, but I am just human, I do say a lot of nonsense" said Wura as she laughed sheepishly.
"But we both know that what you said last night was not mere nonsense, but how you are truly feeling" said Mero as Wura sighed.
"Wura, please, can I ask you why..." said Mero as he was suddenly cut off by Wura interrupting him.
"Mero please, I beg you, let us just forget about this... please..." said Wura as she begged him in a soft voice.
"You said that you have feelings for me?" said Mero, it sounded like a question, but it was a statement.
"Whatever I said, I was not in my right mind when I said it" said Wura as she looked down, avoiding his gaze and resisting the urge to just run away.
"You lie Wura, you were in your right mind, you knew what you were saying, just please tell me the truth" said Mero as Wura sighed.
"What do you want me to say Mero?" asked Wura as she looked up at him.
"Yes, I have feelings for you, yes I do..." said Wura as she knew that there was no point lying and just making things harder, what was said was said and could not be unsaid, she only hoped that they could move past this and never speak of it again.
"What kind of feelings?" asked Mero as Wura frowned.
"What else kind of feelings do you have when you like someone?" asked Wura as she felt offended, what exactly was he trying to say.
"So you love me?" asked Mero as Wura stood up and shook her head quickly.
"No, no I do not love you Mero, I certainly do not love you" said Wura in a serious resolve as she shook her then.
"Then what do you feel for me exactly?" asked Mero as he wanted them to get to the bottom of this, maybe she did not actually feel anything for him, maybe it was just the stress from everything that had been going on that caused her to think that she did.
"Mero I like you alright... it is as simple as that" said Wura.
"But you like Zuph and Elihu too, so you have feelings for them like you have for me?" asked Mero.
"What?? No, no, no, that is different, what I feel for them is admiration and respect, what I feel for you is..." said Wura as she paused.
"Is what?" asked Mero as Wura felt that with his gaze he wanted to force the truth out of her.
"I find you attractive alright? Is that what you want to hear?" asked Wura with a scoff as Mero shook his head.
"So lust after me?" asked Mero as Wura's eyes went wide as she walked to him and almost hit him.
"No of course not, what are you even saying at this point Mero??! You know what at this pace if all you are going to do is throw out baseless accusations then you can just leave, I do not need you making me feel worse than I already do" said Wura as she was angry.
"I am sorry Wura, I did not mean it like that, if you want me to stop speculating then please sit down and try to explain to me what you think you feel, I just want to know, running away of avoiding the topic is not going to do either of us any good, I just want to get to the bottom of this" said Mero as Wura sighed, knowing that he was painfully right.
"So please, try to assist me so we can both understand what is going on" said Mero sincerely.
