Even Cyrus returned his eyes on her when she spoke with confidence.
In the year that they were married, he never heard her spoke in such a tone.
Then he frowned, he barely saw her in the past year.
And it is at this moment he knew he f- kidding…
It was at this moment he realized that he really hated her so much he barely came home. Might only be about a month or so? It was not even a continuous one.
Now, he was looking at a stranger.
On the other hand, Amanda frowned hearing her reply.
Seeing he reaction, Heather's smile widened.
"I am still Heather Relish, even though I was disowned. I had the genes of a Relish. I am smart and capable enough that without anyone's support I can stand and find ways to survive in this world. I won't be putting any shame in your name even with me going out now on my own."
Her tone slowly turned into a mocking one.
She was mocking her for wanting to connect with Relish family through her.
Mocking her that she couldn't make use of Heather but Heather could still do things for herself.
At the same time, she was telling her that she can do more with her own capabilities but she won't do anything for their family.
She was throwing Amanda's words back to her, that Heather was still an outsider even though she was married to Cyrus.
Wasn't that the reason why she only gave her small amount of allowance at the same time, reminding her that she must not go out and show the world that she was Cyrus' wife.
She didn't even bother when Cyrus' beautiful brows furrowed further and his eyes showed anger with the way she spoke towards his mother.
And while Amanda was speechless, her eyes went to him, her smile turned even more confident and she looked at him as if saying, 'You have anything to say?'
He looked away, but he was even more confused at the new person in front of him.
He was prepared to berate her for the way she spoke towards his mother but everything was stuck in his throat when she looked at him, challenging him on what he would say towards her.
He also understood her meaning but because he didn't do anything about it, he couldn't rebuke her at all.
Amanda finally snapped out of her shock and even though Heather had openly mocked her, she chose not to fight with her. She wouldn't lower herself to this kind of person.
"Anyway, since I have already seen your condition and saw that you are doing great, I shall take my leave."
She turned after saying these words but stopped and looked back, "Remember, you are now a Porter."
Heather scoffed as she looked at her departing figure, 'More like you came here for the reason I just spoke of, but seeing as you didn't get the answer that you wanted, you chose to leave and even threaten me by reminding that I am under your watchful eyes.'
After a thought, Heather shouted, "Mother, I am going out once again today!!! You wouldn't have me followed, would you??"
She was even waving her hand goodbye with a grin.
Amanda's figure stopped momentarily before she climbed up the car and it drove away.
Admittedly, she was planning on having people start watching Heather from the shadows again. Yet Heather's shout made her stop her plan for the time being, Amanda seriously forgot that Heather was a Relish.
And that she was known for her perception and intelligence, all because Heather was acting like someone else all this time.
'I can tell that you are hiding something. I'll let you go for now but I will surely unmask you soon,' she clenched her hands into fists.
Her nails digging in her palm.
This was the very first time she was humiliated like this, even though it was only the three of them who were there a while ago.
And even though she chose not to argue, she was still mad at the same time shock.
If what Heather said was true, that she had chosen to return to her original look, then that means she had returned to her original self as well. If so, then was this her real character?
'If this is indeed her real self then I have to find a suitable person as soon as possible. I can't have her stay.
During Heather's first life, on this particular day, the day after their anniversary and Cyrus' hatred reached its peak, Amanda told her the reason why she still allowed her to stay as the legal wife.
"If I allowed him to divorce you now, he will surely return to that vixen. Then wouldn't that cause all my hard work to go down the drain? It is better that you are still there as the shield until I find the most suitable person beside him. Well, if you stopped being a disowned woman then maybe you can stay until the end."
Those words, she will surely use them against Amanda this time.
Heather shrugged, she knew Amanda wouldn't make a move now that she had pointed it out. She still has the chance to check on Wesley on this day.
With a jolly attitude, she turned only to come face to face with a dark faced Cyrus.
'I forgot that he was still here,' she thought.
She waited for him to say anything but he simply looked at her.
She shrugged her shoulders and walked passed him.
She was famished despite the feast that she had the night before.
At the same time, when she looked at her own body, she was too thin.
She needed a little bit of fats because she felt like she might suddenly be blown by a strong wind when a storm comes.
"What are you planning?"
She stopped on her tracks when she heard him speak to her.
She indeed waited for him to speak but she didn't expect that he would REALLY speak to her.
She had anticipated that he would simply leave, yet here he was asking her a question.
The hatred and distant look was still there but deep within was the confusion at the strange events in front of him.
She looked back at him before shaking her head with an innocent look on her face, her peach shaped eyes made her look even more innocent.
"Nothing, what could I be planning?"
He glared at her coldly before leaving without another word.
She chuckled in amusement and went ahead to the kitchen.
Saturdays are Amelia's day offs and so Heather was planning on cooking a simple dish for breakfast before stepping out.
'To think I would meet the two of them within 24 hours of my return, it is truly something,' she thought.
Looking at them, she once again felt just how hard her road ahead will be.
Despite that, she knew she will be better this time.
Around 7 in the morning, the sound of engine left the garage of their place.
She drove back to the place she went to yesterday but this time, she drove a little farther ahead about 2 buildings away, before entering the parking lot of it.
There was a basement two for this parking lot that was connected to the basement of the other two buildings, one of which was Lishter Artillery's company.
These basement 2 parking lots were big and many parked on it, sometimes allowing them to meet other people from the other two buildings.
Heather didn't know why the past owners decided this but when she found it, she knew that the building was the best one for her friend.
Wesley loves doing his works underground where no sunlight could get through.
That was how he was when they were in the village, staying all day on the basement of their little house.
She was only able to meet him because of Elizabeth and Adam, whom she befriended first.
After getting off the car, she walked towards the elevator under Lishter Artillery Company, she didn't press any button that was heading up.
But instead pressed another button that has no mark, just that, it will still go down another level.
After buying the building, she had Adam hire experts to create another basement, like a basement three for their building.
They needed experts because they will have to create another underground room under a twenty floor building.
Because if they don't make this then Wesley will surely not join them back here to the city.
But the only people who could come here were those authorized and had their fingerprint saved to the program of the button.
Once the door opened, what welcomed her was a two floor high space with a floor area that is equal to the size of a court.
The area was not divided with rooms but instead it was one big open space.
Further inside, someone tinkering could be heard.
*step* *step*
Due to the size of the room and the fact that there was only one person other than her, despite wearing sneakers, the sound of her steps still reverberated.
At the fore front of the whole floor, stood a young man facing a gun that was half disassembled, a computer that shows a program with an image of a gun.
There were blueprints scattered on the table and the floor.
It was the usual epic scene when it comes to entering the place of a scientist.
The only difference was that, this scientist was a young man with clean cut black hair.
His skin was pale, showing that no sunlight have touched it for a while.
Though it wasn't so unhealthy which meant that he still came in contact with the sun from time to time.
There was aloofness in his face but it couldn't deny the fact that he was a handsome young man. Even with his head being currently furrowed and his thin lips pursed together.
"Wes."
