The young man's movements stopped when he heard that voice calling his nickname.
But he didn't turn to look, instead his pursed lips ended up having a slight pout.
He stopped staring at the semi disassembled gun before sitting cross legged on the ground where the rest of the blueprints are.
He took hold of his pencil and started lining here and there.
The table above him and the chair beside him are starting to question what their purpose at this moment are.
Heather sighed and smiled before walking over, she sat behind him with her back facing his own.
Then without saying another word, she leaned back.
Leaning on his broad back while looking up at the ceiling.
Wesley's body moved a bit forward after he received her weight.
His hands once again stopped moving.
He simply sat there cross legged and the two of them sat in silence.
The warmth on his back made him remember the past.
This is a habit between them.
"I took my sweet time, didn't I?" Heather asked after a while.
Wesley dropped his pencil and changed his position into him hugging his legs, he also leaned back, giving Heather some of his weight as well.
"I'm sorry," she said feeling his movements.
If he weren't listening then he won't move. He would instead continue on his experiments.
"I won't do it again. I promise," she added.
With a chuckled, she continued, "You are one of those who are fully aware that when I promise, I will fulfill it no matter what. Especially since I rarely make promises with other people."
The little pout in Wesley's lips disappeared and soon he sighed.
"Last time."
A wide smile appeared on her lips after hearing him speak.
"Yes, last time."
She stood up and walked over to his works.
She didn't feel like crying with him, because he hated it.
If she were to cry even if its just because she missed him a lot, he would surely walk away from her instead of listening to her.
So from the get go, she had conditioned herself that she won't cry in front of him.
Wesley liked this better, short conversation but filled with sincerity.
Other than begging while crying, you should just straight forward with him.
"This part, why not change it into this side?"
She pointed at one side of the gun in the blue print before moving it on another side.
Wesley furrowed his brows.
Nope, he wasn't thinking that she was trying to mess his work but instead he was thinking whether it was better indeed.
Soon his brows relaxed and he nodded.
Heather smiled, it meant that he accepted it.
Wesley isn't a person with few words, he was simply like this when he is focusing on his work.
If you try to pester him more in speaking while like this?
You will surely receive his coldest glare and a cold shoulder for the rest of your life.
Looking at all the blueprints, it seems that Adam had given Wesley this task the moment he returned to their office.
Heather looked at each of the blueprint and found the parts that needs revision to achieve the final product they had back in the first life.
This way they will be able to finish it at an earlier time.
"How abut arranging this part to become like this..."
She picked up the pencil and started drawing over the prints.
"And this one, I think the manufacturer would be fine in making this part in this way. It will allow the wires inside to have space instead of being pressed..."
Wesley stared at her when she pointed out at the things he was having troubles with since yesterday.
The modified software implemented gun has been in research for a few years now.
When Adam gave him the task of completing this instead and shelving the other project, he dove right in without asking why the sudden change.
Heather's appearance now was already an answer without him asking questions. Heather was the one who tasked them to shelf everything else and focus on other things for now.
Well, without her appearance, Adam only changes things abruptly when the command comes from her. He does not really listen to the rest of the people. Not even the major shareholders.
So Wesley, will have the answer if he just exert a bit of effort in thinking about it.
Seeing her being active in the development of this project was great for Wesley, because her insights were truly something else.
But as she point things without touching the parts that he has completed, he felt that it was too good to be true that she appeared just on time.
Seeing his look, she grinned and bobbed her brows up and down.
But she chose not to say anything, she simply showed him her confidence of what she was saying.
Wesley smiled while shaking his head.
No asking.
They have such tacit understanding when it comes to these kinds of projects.
From the get go, him together with them, there was already a tacit understanding that when one does not say anything first, the rest won't ask.
The two of them focused on the blueprints and the program.
Though Heather was not great at working with programs, she has some knowledge regarding it and it was of help to Wesley already.
Time passed just like that.
The two friends that drifted apart in the year that passed, or maybe more when she started focusing on her promise even before the wedding, came close as if there was no time gap at all.
"Time for lunch."
Both looked up at the same time, like children whose parents came home when they heard those words.
Elizabeth and Adam chuckled seeing this reaction, it was nostalgic.
"You guys are too focused again," Adam shook his head in exasperation.
Elizabeth smiled helplessly.
The two of them have this kind of role in this group, they always watch over the younger ones because when they focus, they forget everything.
*growl*
The smell of food made their stomachs to growl in hunger.
Using your mind sometimes makes you hungrier faster than doing physical work.
"We have siomai and noodles for lunch," Adam opened the lids of the takeaways.
A grin instantly appeared on Heather and Wesley's faces upon seeing the delightful dishes.
It was their favorite food whenever they finished or while they are still doing some work.
The warmth of the noodles as it reached their stomachs made their whole body warm and their heads that are about to have cramps, to relax.
Heather felt even more warm as she look at these three people who are enjoying such a peaceful food with her.
She really is thanking mister truck for hitting her.
The curses she sent after feeling the hellish pain all over her body after the incident, now turned to gratefulness.
Of course, the one she was thanking more was the one from above.
She was thanking God for giving her this chance.
A chance to redo her life and to actually make things right.
A fantasy most people couldn't have but she was still given the chance to have.
"What do you think?" she asked as all three of them sent her to the elevator door.
She didn't want them to send her to her car because she would rather not have other people see her with these people.
Not because she was shy about being seen with them but because she is quite a hot topic at this moment that most people knows her and loves taking pictures of her as the 'Disowned Princess'.
"It will be finished and launched earlier than planned. The major shareholders will surely be delighted," Adam replied.
"Are you being controlled by those old geezers?" she asked with a frown.
"Of course not, do you think he is someone who would be controlled by such people?" Elizabeth instantly rebuked.
Heather laughed.
At the age of eighteen, Adam has control over all the thugs and young ones of their village.
It was not because he was a terror but because his presence was strong enough and even his strength was remarkable.
In that village, they were kin on studying different kinds of fighting styles.
Included are all those foreign fighting styles like taekwondo and martial arts.
They couldn't study it fully but they were able to learn enough to fight properly against a few number of people at once.
"You know they are just fronts," Adam added.
Heather once again smiled.
There are four major shareholders in Lishter Company and she was the CEO.
But these four were simply paid people to act like ones in front of the employees of Lishter Artillery.
The real major shareholders are someone else entirely.
"Anyway, we will make this gun go around first before we try another one. At the same time, I already have someone else to help our weapons in being publicized even more..."
She spoke more of the plans and the three stared at her with nostalgic smiles.
A year wasn't too long but she lay lowed in being this active about four years ago.
"What?" she asked in confusion seeing their smiles.
"It's just welcome back… seriously," Elizabeth was the one who replied.
Heather blinked before chuckling, "I'm sorry for the wait."
