When she finally got the chance to go home, it was already midnight.
The only lights opened in the house was the ones on the front door.
The inside was already dark, completely if not for the moon that was shinning brightly up in the clear night sky.
After getting out of the car she chose to walk out.
The parking lot was in the basement of the house and there was already a door leading inside the house and a way towards the front side of the house.
There was a garden in front of the house with different types of flowers surrounding it.
A gazebo standing in the middle which is facing a small pond that has some gold fishes.
The path walk in between the bushes of flowers were marble in material.
She took her time in stepping on these stones.
One step... Two steps...
Hop here... Hop to the next...
She was like a child playing step yes or no...
A giggle escape her lips as she thought of what she was currently doing.
She really was free now.
In her first life, even though these things are here and she could see people tending on it from the window, she was so focused on the things she wanted to do that she didn't have the chance to enjoy and appreciate this place.
Now, on the first night of her return, while driving back to the house she noticed this place and remembered how she had only looked at it from the house.
She took a deep breath and took in the scent of the flowers.
It was summer and the wind during the night felt nice.
A smile appeared on her lips as she continued walking towards the gazebo.
This is just the first day and she felt great as she was able to reconnect with so many people whom she drifted apart with for so many years, though only a year or so for them.
She knew her road ahead will be a difficult one but she knew that since she chose to be the real her, she will surely be fine.
She stood there for an hour before she walked back to the house.
The moment she opened the door, she was welcomed by a broad back.
He was wearing a black suit and was on the process of removing it.
Feeling the presence behind him, he turned around.
Shock was visible in his dark brown eyes when he saw her standing behind him.
But it was only a momentary one, soon the shock was replaced with disgust and obvious hatred.
He even took a step back making her laugh inside.
'Well those sword like brows that are now furrowed was indeed nostalgic. Those thin lips and high nose, yes indeed he was a handsome man. A lot of ladies are willing to throw themselves on him.'
Heather was already 5 feet 5 inches tall, she was on the tall side of a woman but Cyrus, who was standing in front of her, was still towering over her.
His height was about 6 feet 4 inches tall.
"Are you done?" she broke the icy cold silence between them.
He was still standing on the front porch that she couldn't pass.
He raised an eyebrow before turning and heading towards the stairs.
She was shock to see him here since in the first life, she went to him just before midnight. The little change of her not going already changed the events of him coming back instead of her coming for him.
She shrugged at his reaction as she too went upstairs, today's events was overwhelming and tiring enough, she just wanted to sleep.
When the door to his study closed, he stood still for about five minutes before his frown deepened.
He thought that she would come and pester him about their anniversary since he came home late. He didn't want to come back after she pestered him the night before that they should celebrate and deepen their bond, words he was completely averse with.
If not for the fact that he forgot a very important file that he needed to check and use early on this day, he wouldn't have returned.
He chose to come back now that the day has passed and was prepared to still see her waiting with some decorations and stuff, something she had done when it was his birthday.
But was seriously stunned to see a dark house, he actually entered very slowly to see if it was a surprise instead but there was none.
No decorations, no smell of food, no person waiting for him to arrive.
What shocked him more was the fact that she appeared behind him and was having a new look.
She returned to her look when they first met one another back in that party a year ago.
He was even more baffled to see an indifferent look on her when all along she always have this longing look, together with it was a determination, he couldn't tell where it was coming from.
He shrugged off these thoughts for she was just like this when they first got married, she suddenly changed and acted like Susan, whom he loved deeply.
Even though he hated her, he still has his own respect towards their marriage. After they got married, he cut off contact with Susan altogether but when he saw Heather dressing and acting like Susan, his hatred to how things turned out became a hatred towards her. And the more she acts that way the more he didn't want to see her.
After all, every single day, he misses Susan dearly. For just like him, Susan cut off all contact with him as well.
The last time he saw her was when she came in that room together with his mother and the pain that flashed through her eyes seeing him on bed with another woman.
He closed his eyes and pinched the space between his brows to stop his mind from wandering.
After making sure that she didn't follow him in his study, he went ahead and took what he needed. But the moment he stood straight ready to leave again, his eyes blurred.
He knew he was tired, he had been staying up late all this time and it must have caught up to him already.
He opened the door of his study and felt his surrounding.
When he couldn't hear a single thing and feeling the quietness and peacefulness of the night, he went to his own room.
For some odd reason, he knew he would be able to sleep here tonight without her pestering him.
Because from the past, she would knock at his door and create excuses to spend time with him.
Yet the indifferent look she had today made him feel, for some odd reason, that she will stay quiet this time.
Cyrus was on guard but the one he was on guard about was already fast asleep.
She had entered the dream land, the moment her head hit the pillow, not minding the other person who was keeping up his guard about her.
The next day, Heather woke up just as the day breaks because she was planning on stepping out to meet Wesley Carpenter, one of the main scientists of their company.
Both on modification and the software of their future weapon plans.
Just as she reached the landing of stair on the second floor, she could hear voices downstairs.
One was of Cyrus, whom she was surprised he didn't return to his office the night before, or should it be the midnight before?
And the other was the voice she was already expecting after she had her pictures taken the day before.
Amanda Porter, mother of Cyrus and the one creating connections for their family in order to grow and expand.
Her lips curled up into a mocking smile, thinking how fast she really moves.
Without further delay, she walked down the first floor and was greeted with the scene of the mother and son chatting harmoniously.
Cyrus turned to her with a frown before looking away coldly.
Amanda walked towards her.
"So the news was true, you have changed."
Heather smiled, "No, I just reverted back to my original look."
"That is the same, anyway I wonder what brought these changes?"
Heather raised her eyebrow while her eyes squinted, "Going straight to the point I see."
Amanda cleared her throat, she felt excited when she heard that Heather was spending money left and right the day before.
She had the illusion that Heather only relies on the little money that she was giving as an allowance since Heather barely goes out.
To be precise because she had spoken to Heather in a round about manner that a disowned poor girl like her should know her position and not to put them to shame by appearing outside.
That, for Heather spending left and right on so many expensive things was unthinkable.
There was only one explanation to it, and that she was spending the money of Relish family.
Amanda even regretted pulling out the guards in the shadows keeping an eye on her because she really didn't go out a lot.
"I am just worried if you still have money since you have decided to change. You can tell me and I will give it to you," Amanda cleared up.
"I think you are forgetting something, mother..."
Heather even emphasized the word Mother.
And when she heard it, Amanda felt like hundreds of ants are crawling on her skin, she felt disgusted being called one by a poor woman like this person in front of her.
"I am a capable person."
