A smirk tugged at Lucius's lips.
That beam, it made the young woman furrow her brows in displeasement. How could he smile like that? It appeared so.. It looked so pretty. He got a beautiful smile for real. 'Ugh, what am I thinking even?' Veda gritted her teeth in realization. Restraining herself.
"Having confidence is a need of course. I believe in myself" Veda claimed proudly. Her gaze shifted back down on the paper of file. "Is that so?" Wearing a smirk, Lucius tilted his head. He gazed at the young woman with admiration flashing in his honey brown eyes.
"You really do have tons of identities to walk around in this country" Instead of an answer, Veda dived into her own world. Mumbling quietly to herself alone which made the man raise his right brow. This young woman! She completely ignored his existence like nothing!
"It is not simple and thrilling to live with one name as you can see. I am certain it is relatable for you, Miss Veda Ambrose" Lucius retorted to whisper. Hushing down Veda wholly. He clearly was digging her past indirectly. It sounded as an obvious threat for her somehow.
Did this mean he checked?
Had he already unfolded her past by investigating? Well, he must have clearly. This man probably ran a background check about her and others as well. "Shall we start from the first part of your schedule for today, Mister Lucius Ford?" A beam tugged at Veda's lips quickly.
And she shut the file. Only to amuse the man. He did not anticipate the young woman to get into the role of assistant this quick. He at least expected her to behave as arrogant person for a week. Turned out she was a fast learner. It was understandable she was confident.
She should trust in herself for real. After all, Veda Ambrose was type of person who knew how to act in what situation. When no response came up from the man, the young woman clenched her jaw. Why was he smiling like a fool only? Three more seconds passed by.
Yet, the man had yet to reply. Causing Veda to stand up from the seat promptly in impatience without waiting for permission anymore. "Where do you think you are going, Miss Veda Ambrose?" Over the sight, Lucius queried in awareness. It ceased Veda from walking away.
She frowned.
Turning her head to back, only to meet the amused gaze of the man. "Silence is definition of agreement which means we are heading to the first location?" Puzzlement displayed across Veda's face. Her words somehow managed to tickle the man. Making him chuckled.
"Sit back down. Have some drinks or breakfast first of all since I could not guarantee you would have a time for lunch after" With a smile tugged at his lips, Lucius alerted. He really was going to bully the young woman. That's all Veda could say by observing that beam.
"I had a toast and coffee before coming here. It is already enough" Maintaining the calm expression, Veda turned the request down. She clearly did not see the future which was waiting ahead of her in silence of viciousness. "Do as you please" Smirking quietly, Lucius scoffed.
He then got up from seat, which caused Den to stand up as well. They three walked out of the cafe.Today, Lucius Ford did not have any glasses on. His fake identity Liam with glasses had disappeared. For now, he was under disguise of rich uncle who owned a whole mall, Albert.
"Oh, actually.."
As the man stepped into the car, his voice ceased the young woman who was about to follow into the car. She lifted her gaze. Peering into the man's eyes through sunglasses. "Get me a cup of black coffee" Lucius commanded. It was the moment, Veda clenched her jaw.
As anticipated, this man was about to bully her for real. "Wait for a few minutes then" Without any complaints, Veda left from the place in tranquility. Leaving the car door opened since she knew Den would shut it. The cold response from the young woman amused Lucius.
He smirked. "Follow after her quietly and keep your eyes on her only. Don't let her get into troubles. Don't let her escape from your eyesight" Along with a cold gaze, Lucius ordered to Den. He nodded in understanding, closing the car door before he headed back.
As his Boss's instruction, Den sneaked into the cafe once again. Settling down at the corner table with his eyes on the young woman named Veda Ambrose only. She did not seem to notice him even. She was lost in the ocean of thoughts while waiting at the table for coffee.
"Ugh.. what a life"
Silently, Veda regretted the decisions she picked in her entire life. Now, take a peek at herself, working as an assistant of a crime lord who owned many identities, not to mention the fact that the so called crime lord was bullying her since the first day of work day. How tiring.
"I am exhausted mentally already, man" Burying her face in her palm, Veda whined quietly. The sight of the young woman sighing over her life, Den raised his right brow. His eyes glued to her. Figuring out to see through the mindset of the young woman. "Miss.. your order"
The girl approached with a bag which held the plastic cup inside. It was when, Veda raised her head in realization. She flashed a soft smile at the girl. "Thanks" Grabbing the bag, Veda stood up from the seat. Then she prepared to leave since she had paid for it already.
However, the girl voiced only to prevent her. "Um.. Miss Veda Ambrose.." quietly, the girl called the full name of the young woman. Ceasing Veda from walking away. Her eyes widened. Staring back at the girl who had a slight frown upon her face. "Yes?" Veda tilted her head.
"Could I please get an autograph?"
In a low tone, the girl appealed. It was the moment, a sigh escaped between Veda's lips. Thank goodness, the girl was her fan, requiring her signature only. The young woman thought this girl was about to threaten her or something by disclosing her identity to public.
"Of course" A grin gleamed across Veda's face. Delighting the girl who believed the young woman would refuse. "I got the paper and pen actually!" Due to excitement, the girl raised her tone. Pulling the small notebook and pen out of the pocket in hurry.
She had been waiting for this moment since Veda stepped into the cafe. "Supermodel Veda Ambrose... the murderess of crime lords' sweetheart" Quietly, Den muttered to himself over the sight of the young woman giving the autograph away to the girl working in cafe.
"You look really great with your boyfriend, Miss. He seems like a fun person. I wish you the best relationship with him, Miss. I will support you in whatever matter you do. I will be on your side always. You will be my forever top role model" With a wide grin, the girl assured.
"Pardon?"
Veda frowned instantly, after handing the paper of her autograph to the girl. Although, it was such a heartwarming sentence to hear the girl was being her number one top fan with full of admiration, the words in the front annoyed and puzzled the young woman.
"Oh!" Suddenly, the girl gasped in awareness. "I did not mean to butt in your business, Miss! I will keep this mouth shut forever about your boyfriend! No one will ever find out about this! I can guarantee it, Miss! Please excuse me! Have a wonderful day! I love you so much!"
Without letting Veda speak a word even, the girl went in for a hug out of bliss. "I am sorry! Love you!" And then she ran away with paper and pen in her hands. The entire time, Veda scowled in disappointment. The girl saw that Lucius Ford as her boyfriend?! Seriously?!
"We are not dating. Not even friends..." Under her breath, the young woman tiredly stated yet the girl was far away from her to hear an explanation. "Ugh, I should keep a distance between me and that man for real" Rolling her eyes, Veda stepped out of the cafe.
Walking near to the car.
She opened the car door, getting inside as Lucius observed her in silence. "Here, your black coffee" Veda passed the plastic cup after getting it out of the bag. "I changed my mind. Not in mood to enjoy a coffee now" Shrugging with calm face, Lucius refused.
Hushing down the young woman entirely. She fucking knew it! This man actually was about to bully her as much as he could the whole day! 'Fuck you, asshole. You are annoying as fuck. I wish I asked to be in list of the Satan instead of you' Inside her mind, she cursed.
But in reality, Veda did not utter any more word and let out a quiet sigh. She then laid the cup into cup holder. Her gaze commenced to search for Den now. Right, where did that soulless man go? Shouldn't he be inside the car already, at front seat? "Why aren't you grumbling?"
Noticing the silent treatment, Lucius Ford queried. Causing the young woman make the eye contact with him. "I have got nothing to say?" She tilted her head with a frown. Bringing a smile up onto the face of the man. At the same time, Den opened the car door to get in.
He settled at driver seat.
"Oh, he is back.."
Veda murmured.
