Veda enjoyed the fruit salad.
Giving no fuck about the chat between the two men. Instead, her attention focused on the food more. More likely to describe she had no interest in conversation about work. "My apologies, but I have to leave now" Out of the blue, Lucius voiced. Stunning the young woman entirely.
She did not even notice how the talk had ended! Quickly, Veda finished the fruit salad, in elegant way still. "Did I perhaps upset you, Mister Albert?" With a slight frown across on his face, Waylon questioned. He got up from the seat in hurry as soon as Lucius Ford stood up.
The way the two men jumped up from the chair surprised Veda. She promptly got up. "Of course not, Mister Waylon. You did not do anything to bother me even a bit. To be honest, I have got something to buy for my new assistant" A wide smile tugged at Lucius's face.
His words annoyed Waylon while Veda was at loss for words. When did this man learn to lie and push all the blame on someone else? "Ah, what a shame. I never knew having an assistant is such a difficult work" Eyeing the young woman, Waylon taunted indirectly with a tiny beam.
It angered Veda.
But she did not speak anything and maintained the cold ass murderess expression. "Pardon me" Lucius excused himself without paying the cost even. Dragging the young woman by wrist out of restaurant without asking if she was fine or not. His behavior bugged Veda.
"Do you know only to push blame on someone else and drag a woman like some sort of dog you bought?" In the end, frustration commanded the young woman to express fury. Bringing a grin up onto the man's face. "Trust me. I put admiration in my grasp whenever I pull you"
Along with a wink, Lucius answered. He disclosed how he gently held her which bothered Veda more. "Let me go already. It would be a shame to be seemed as a couple with you" Under her breath, she mumbled in annoyance. Shoving the man's grip away from her wrist promptly.
"I am certain it was a lie" Lucius retorted in low tone. Still, Veda did not respond anything, otherwise he was going to shut her up with many comebacks she never anticipated. In this case, tbe young woman calmly remained silent and followed after the man out of restaurant.
They two stepped into the car later.
"Park the car at somewhere tranquil and no crowd is around" As the car drove off, Lucius ordered to Den. "Understood" Although, hundred of questions list spun in the young woman's head over the words of the man, she did not query out loud. Zipping her lips tightly like a mute.
She would find out the reason why this man instructed like this once they reached to the location he requested. 'Are they going to to get rid of me at quiet place?' Suddenly, negative thought interrupted the mindset of Veda. Causing her to furrow brows in an instant. Huh?!
It could be true though?! Each by each, fright and anxiety swallowed the young woman. Making her felt as if someone was strangling her. She had to stay alert. Out of fear, without realizing herself even, Veda gripped on her shoulder bag firmly. Her eyes stared through window.
Negative thoughts and ways to escape from death ran on the inside of her mind. "Thanks a ton" When the car finally stopped at a tranquil place, Lucius expressed gratitude. It was like an alarm for the young woman on the other side. The ears started to ring loudly enough.
Her eyes flickered in exasperation.
Were they two going to murder her for real?! "Get out of the car. I have received some due to works to get them done in an hour" With a calm expression, Lucius gave an order. It stunned Veda once again. Due to work?! In an hour?! Was it to kill her and kick her out of the world?!
All thanked to terror, the young woman mind did not process well. Instead, she collected all the words in negative way. "Excuse me" Den voiced and stepped out of the car as his Boss's instruction. Alerting Veda. Since Den left, she should leave too. Right. She should get out.
Before leaving, Veda's eyes glanced beside her to check the situation. The laptop which the man brought had already settled on his lap. He for real was working. No. This could be an act. Escaping was never the wrong option even if there was no death waiting ahead for her.
"Pardon me" In hurry, the young woman turned around to reach to the door handle after making sure the man was distracted. Ready to run off from the so called death she was expecting, until a strong hand grasped her forearm. Ceasing her from stepping out. Fuck.
The only word her brain proceeded.
"It was a command for Den, Miss Veda Ambrose. You are exception" As Veda looked back at the man with a frown, Lucius reminded with a smile. Sending shivers down to the young woman's spine. "But, you are about to finish some works. I do not have intention to interrupt, Sir"
Veda used the words of the man as an excuse. "Sit back down. You are my assistant. Help me with this" Yet, Lucius instructed. Only to make the young woman took her hand back from grabbing the door handle of car. "Pass me the file" The man ordered with his eyes on laptop.
It was when Veda reached for the file at front seat. She then handed it into the palm of the man. "Do you think you are expert in copying the signature of someone?" Looking up from the file, Lucius questioned out of blue. Hushing down the young woman. What did this mean?
Veda scowled. "Um, I am not kind of an expert. But I could copy without having to look again tomorrow and again" Furrowing her brows, the young woman responded in a low yet confused tone. "Great. I will need you to focus on my signature then" Lucius flashed a smile.
"Pardon?"
Now, this perplexed the young woman entirely. "Because I won't be signing every file and each paper on my table. You have to sign it on behalf of myself" Staring straight into the puzzled eyes of Veda, Lucius divulged the reason. Only to quiet down the young woman.
So it was like this? There was no such an intention to murder her then? She was safe? "How about you continue and finish your due to work for now? Maybe you can show me your signature later" In the end, Veda kicked out loud all negative thoughts from her mindset.
Sighing at ease at last. "Cool then. You just stick beside me for now" Lucius commanded as his eyes landed back on the screen of laptop after handing the file into the young woman's hands. He did not let her escape nor let her utter a word to get away from his side even.
Completely annoying Veda entirely. In silence, she sat down there with the file in her grasp. Her fate had become like this. She had no other options but to maintain tranquility and settle here for the entire time till this man finished the works. Twenty minutes passed by.
Boredom swallowing Veda slowly.
WHEN WILL THIS END?! The young woman screamed on the inside as silence on the outside put her ill at ease. "Ugh.." Under her breath, Veda let out a groan quietly. She flinched slightly after in view of the fact that aircon in the car was sending shivers down to her spine.
Even though, Veda had white shirt and jeans on, the aircon managed to make her shivered. "Hold this for a moment" Suddenly, Lucius offered the laptop to the young woman. Puzzling her totally. But without any complaints, Veda accepted the laptop and laid it on her lap.
She observed the man quietly to see what he was aiming to do. However, Lucius took the coat off unlike how the young woman anticipated. Stunning her entirely. "Could you please lean forward?" Holding the coat, Lucius requested. Hushing down the young woman.
"Um, I do not need it" Veda refused. Denying to receive the warm coat from the man. "Lean forward. Right now, Miss Veda Ambrose. You know that I am busy" With his cold eyes, Lucius warned. Only to make Veda let out a sigh in exhaustion. She leaned to forward.
And the man wrapped the coat,
around her shoulder. "Wear it. It will warm your body temperature" A smile tugged at Lucius's face as he took the laptop back for the young woman to slip into the coat. His gaze glinted with hint of delight. He seemed to be happy over this matter. "Thank you for the coat, Sir"
Veda expressed gratitude and wore it as the man instructed. But then the man went back to due to work immediately. It quieted down Veda. How did he notice she was shivering from aircon? What was the meaning of offering the coat? 'Friends. He must want to be closer'
On the inside, Veda drew the clue.
