Chapter 32 - Grape flavored mint candies jar

Veda gazed Den quietly.

She observed him, driving the car. There was no word uttering from her lips. Veda remained silent the whole time. Her stare focused on the road across, and the man who was driving in tranquility while Lucius's eyes blazed with vexation over the sight of the young woman.

Her silent treatment and that deep gaze upon Den, annoyed him. "Miss Veda Ambrose, pass me the black coffee" The calm tone of Lucius Ford echoed, tearing the silence apart successfully. It brought the young woman back to reality. Her mind had been considering.

Thinking about how it would have been better if she avoided to help the lover of Edward Gable at club that night. "Huh?" Realization hit Veda really hard. Causing her to raise her brows as she turned to look at the man beside her. And they made the eye contact.

"Coffee." Wearing a smile, Lucius repeated the word. It was when Veda gasped in awareness. Right. She almost lost herself in ocean of regret and thoughts. The young woman promptly picked the cup up from cup holder. Reaching it to the man carefully. But she frowned.

Why wasn't he taking it?!

"Just a reminder that I am not holding a sunflower in my hand. It is a freaking black coffee cup which is burning my palm" Through gritted teeth, Veda jogged the man's memories. However, Lucius did not seize the cup. Instead, his smile grew into a wide amused grin.

"To be honest, I crave for mint candy" He changed his mind. Making Veda clenched her jaw even tighter. This motherfucker truly knew how to test someone's patience. Impressive. Magnificent as fuck so that she desired to throw some fists right in his face.

'Ugh, seriously. Please give me a chance to punch his face for one time, universe. That's all I wish to achieve for real' Due to fury, Veda shot a death glare to the man. Laying the cup back into cup holder promptly. Then she let out a quiet sigh to restrain her exasperation.

"Surprisingly enough, I got no gum nor mint candy in my bag today, Mister Lucius Ford. It is such an unlucky day for you. Anything else?" Tilting her head, the young woman responded beneath serene face. Her eyes observed the man, only to witness him letting out a chuckle.

The scene made her quiet down.

What was this? Why did he giggle out of blue? Puzzlement pushed Veda to pull her brows together. Causing her to dive into ocean of conclusions right away. "Why don't we stop by the mall to get some mint candies then?" Unexpected query from the man came up.

Stunning the young woman wholly. But the first location they had to go was a company to attend urgent meeting under disguise of Albert, the owner of an entire mall which was widely known in the state. It was an important gathering! How could he gave no fuck about that?!

"But Mister Lucius Ford, you got an essential assembly in twenty minutes starting from now on. There is no time to walk around in the mall for a damn mint candy" In perplexity mixing with annoyance, Veda pointed out. "The world is not going to fall in chaos if I don't go"

A sarcastic response from Lucius irritated the young woman. Imagine being this man's assistant forever, what a daily hell to crawl out. She would literally plan to run away every single day if she had to be his assistant forever. "Do as you wish, Mister Lucius Ford" Veda smiled.

It was his part.

What if that company was ruined? None of her business. This man had some back up identities that could feed almost half of humanity for a year at least. What if he lost some numbers of income every month? None of her business again, he probably got a lot more other.

After all, he was Lucius Ford, one of the crime lords. "You give up real quick, Miss Veda Ambrose. As expected from a woman like you" The man smirked. He gazed the young woman who held the intense eye contact with him courageously. He could see fury wandering in car.

The smell of frustration lingered. Rage glinted in her fierce eyes. "You are just hard to handle to be honest. It is no wonder you got no lover by your side. No woman would be able to hold in the exasperation around you" Without pulling back, Veda provoked fearlessly out of wrath.

It was the moment, Den's eyes shifted up to rear-view mirror quickly. He took a glimpse of the scene at the back seat, especially the expression of his Boss. Silence covered the whole car instantly. The young woman gritted her teeth while the man had a cold face on.

They maintained eye contact.

"We have arrived to the mall" All of sudden, Lucius's lips curved up into a smile. It was as if his another personality possessed the body once again. The sight made Veda shiver. The way this man switched like a psychopath with different types of personalities terrified her.

He sure was the kind of man you should avoid at all cost. "What are you waiting for, Miss Veda? Open the door before twenty minutes run out of grasp" Lifting his right brow, Lucius instructed. Directly hinting he would be attending the forum. "Oh! Sure! My bad!" Veda gasped.

Turning around as she unlocked the car door. However, Den managed to open the door before she could. Startling the young woman. "How come he has no intention to notify his presence?" Under her breath, Veda grumbled. Blaming the man for making her flinched slightly.

Then she stepped out of the car. Followed by the man from behind. "Do you perhaps know where to get mint candies?" In curiosity, Lucius queried Veda. Only to hit her with bullet of disbelief. Was he being serious? Was he asking because he had no clue? "I have no idea at all"

Veda shrugged.

Not knowing the places about this mall across her. This was a whole new damn place she never knew it existed due to the fact that Aria kept her best friend inside the apartment almost always just in case Edward Gable and paparazzi were around the area to capture Veda.

As result, the young woman was not aware of surrounding really well except the music and model industries. "Great" Lucius mocked. Causing Veda to roll her eyes. They two walked into the mall while Den stayed behind. The young woman went after the man only though.

She did not want to get caught with the man as couple on news. Even though, she got sunglasses on to veil her identity, people were fast to catch up quickly if they cared for real. "Stick beside me, Miss Veda Ambrose. You are supposed to be by my side and search for candy"

Noticing the distance, the young woman kept since they entered the mall, Lucius ordered. He turned his head, staring into the puzzled gaze of Veda. She ceased her steps. "I cannot be seemed like a couple with you, Mister Lucius Ford. Please ignore me and buy your dear candy"

The young woman retorted.

Refusing to follow the words of the man at all cost to protect her reputation. However, the man's hand rose. Only to seize her arm firmly. Then he pulled her forward, near to his side. Causing Veda to let out a quiet shout in shock. "What are you doing?!" She questioned.

Staring up into the eyes of the man. "I have found the mint candies. Could you please go get some from that store?" Innocently, Lucius Ford requested. He raised his right brow to point at the direction, annoying the young woman entirely. "You did not need to grab me and pull near"

Through gritted teeth, Veda hissed. Shoving the grip of the man from her arm. But Lucius only smiled. "How many do you want? A bag? A jar?" Furrowing her brows, Veda queried. "A jar. Make sure to take grape flavor if there is any" The man gave order with hands in pockets.

At last, Veda got no options but to stroll into the store where candies were at. "Welcome, Miss" the girls bowed and greeted. "Hello" The young woman also responded with a smile. She began to search for the mint candies jar with grape flavor. Until, someone interrupted her.

"AH! THAT'S MINE!"

As Veda's hand laid on jar of grape flavored mint candies, a kid yelled. Startling the young woman entirely so that she flinched. Slowly, her gaze turned to right side where the shout came from, only to meet a kid around six years old crying out loud with his finger pointing at her.

It was the moment, Veda knew this kid was dragging her into problems. Now, the yell gathered all attention upon the young woman who held the mint candies jar in grasp. "Um, there is another one, kid. Let me grab it for you" Wearing a tiny beam, Veda seized another from shelf.

Handing it to the kid in tranquility. But, instead of gratitude, the kid bawled. "But I want grape flavored mint candies jar only! Give me that! Mom!" With tears scrolling down on his cheek, the little boy yelled out loud. Hushing down the young woman wholly. Grape flavored.

The only one jar left. And yet this kid required it? Seriously? "Shh, Shh. Please don't cry. I will get another grape flavored mint candies. Please shut the fuck up" In frustration, Veda promised. Hating the fact that people's attention had landed on her. "MOM! THIS AUNTY CURSED!"

Yet, the kid yelled again.

Only to irritate Veda more.
