The first bang made her slip out of unconsciousness, or the sleep that she had been in, the second one popped her eyes right open.
What the hell?
Joyce raised her head from his shoulder only to realize what was going on. Those sounds were not bangs! They were gunshots and they were happening right above them!
She gasped and felt Adrian stand up next to her. He went ahead and switched on the bulb before coming over to her, and holding out his hand.
He helps her stand up, stabilize her footing before reaching over to stand underneath the bulb. It was only after a few moments that she realized that they were out of direct line of sight from the door to the basement.
It meant that no one would be able to shoot unless they really meant to.
