Three months, the battle of cancer versus her mother lasted three months.
Three excruciatingly painful and long ones that Joyce had to spend by the side of her mother. She witnessed, from her very own eyes, how her mother slowly and steadily, but painfully, began to descend towards the end of life.
It hurt, but it did not hurt at the same time. It heard that her mother was no longer there in the world, but it did not hurt because she had suffered enough. At least she was finally at peace.
Maybe, because of that fact, the fact that she had seen and been through the side of her mother, while all of this happened, toughened her enough to not cry.
