A few hours ago in a tunnel deep underground there were three men that looked somewhat closely related arguing loudly. They were also accompanied by three beasts, a large mole that was constantly digging at the front, a bird, and a moth that were sitting on the shoulders of two of the men.
The one at the front right behind the mole wasn't too tall nor too short. He had brown hair that went down to his shoulders with an honest looking face. The one behind him was the shortest of the three. He had short brown hair and an angry look on his face, and on his right shoulder was a large green moth sitting quietly with the tip of its antenna shining brightly being the only source of light for everyone underground.
The third guy was the tallest of the three. He was the only one not shouting, only quietly watching from the back. His face looked sharp and calm and his brown hair was neatly combed, on his shoulder sat a brown bird with a green feathered crown sitting on its head.
The mole beast at the front was brown colored as well and its skin was smooth, if it wasn't for the fact it was moving constantly anyone would have mistaken it for a clay sculpture. The speed it dug down was very quick and the size of the corridor it was making was just enough for the three people behind him to walk down comfortably.
If you looked carefully you would notice that it was as if the earth was moving by itself as soon as it was touched by the mole's large claws. After every half a minute or so of digging it would stop and pat down the newly dug path where the land would instantly compress and harden into perfectly smooth stairs before going back to digging. And whenever the mole did stop the other two creatures would flap their wings a few times making violent gusts of wind that pushed the old air out of the tunnel bringing new air in.
"You told us there was something down here but how long have we been digging yet we still haven't found anything! This is a complete waste of time! We are supposed to be hunting for the village but we already wasted the whole day digging this stupid hole! And we aren't even supposed to be here in the first place!" The short guy with the green moth on his shoulder shouted at the man that was standing at the front watching the mole that was constantly digging.
"I told you, you have to be patient! There is definitely something here! My little buddy told me and I trust him. Right buddy?" As he asked, the mole looked back and stared at him for a few seconds looking a bit confused before nodding and then turning his back to them once again and going back to digging.
"What do you mean, trust him!? You just tamed him like a week ago and aren't even able to fully understand him yet or him understand you for that matter! So how would you even know if he even knows what you are talking about?! For all you know he could just be trying to show you how deep he can dig! How could you know if he actually found the treasure or is even leading us there?!" The short man shouted again, his face starting becoming a little red in frustration.
Hearing this the man in the front let out a sigh before turning towards him.
"Brother, you need to have some faith" He said with a completely serious face.
"F-Faith? We have wasted the whole day because of you and your only explanation is that I should have faith?!! I'll kill you!" Screaming out, he jumped at the guy in the front and both started to wrestle on the ground getting completely covered in dirt.
As the two fought not only did the taller man in the back and the creatures not do anything but they completely ignored the two. The mole kept digging and the green moth that was on the shoulder of the short man had flown off and landed on the shoulder of the tall man opposite to where the bird was sitting.
Even after a few minutes passed the two seemed to not tire continuing to roll around on the ground not noticing that the mole had stopped digging and was looking curiously at the thing popping out of the dirt in front of him.
The tall brother in the back quickly took notice and walked to the front before squatting down in front of what appeared to be a small root. Taking out a small knife from his sheath he made a small cut on the tip of the plant which instantly started oozing a clear liquid.
Using his finger he gathered a small drop and brought it up to his nose. After smelling it for a few seconds he frowned and then brought it up to his mouth and using the tip of his tongue he also tasted it. An even deeper frown appeared on his face and it became worse when the sound of the two fighting broke his concentration
"Enough!! Stop fighting and come here!" He shouted out loudly without even turning back.
When the two heard him they stopped immediately and got up off the ground patting the dirt of their bodies and walked quickly to his side.
When the two brothers reached his side they also looked confused at the small root poking out of the ground.
"Philip, do you know what this plant is?" The tall one asked calmly.
The brother with shoulder length hair came forward and repeated what the older brother did, he used his finger to get some of the sap before smelling it and also giving it a taste but he ended up frowning just like his older brother did.
"Brother, I've never seen a plant root like this before. There shouldn't even be any plants reaching this deep underground… Not only that but the dirt around is very cracked which is a bit strange… It's as if this plant grew too fast for the ground to keep up." He responded calmly.
"Dan?" The shortest of the two then also came forward and did the same thing before also frowning. He then grabbed the root and dug around it with his hands.
"I don't know either but this root seems to be coming from underground and not from the surface " He answered with a confused look on his face.
After thinking for a few seconds the older brother got up off the ground and padded some of the dirt off his clothes.
"Follow it, lets see where it leads." He said calmly.
