Tom's and Josh's families both agreed and planned for them to accompany each other to go to an aquarium to play and look at all the fish. Both Tom and Josh had never gone to an aquarium before and they were both rather eager to go for their first time.
They were both looking forward to it and the day before they were meant to go neither of them could get much sleep due to their boundless energy and the amount of excitement they both felt.
The day for their trip to the aquarium arrived and they both got ready to go, Josh wore a blue T-shirt with a cartoon drawing of a penguin on the front with brown knee-length shorts and long white socks with white shoes. Whilst Tom wore a beige T-shirt with short white shorts which reached halfway down his thighs with knee-length white socks and a pair of white shoes.
Once both families had driven to and parked in front of the aquarium they all got out and met each other by the front door of the building, they paid for their tickets and the parents bought maps and other necessary things, as they were waiting for Joshua and Tom talked to one another about how they were late and what they'd been up to, along with other such things.
The parents soon got everything in order and they all entered the aquarium, Josh and Tom who was the most excited were the first to rush in to go and see the fish.
"Hey! Hey! Look! Look, the fishies are drowning!" Called Josh as soon as he saw one of the aquarium's huge fish tanks, the first tank that he'd seen, the one he was currently pointing at as he called to his parents and to Tom, was a huge tank which was the home of a type of shark.
Everyone who had gone to the aquarium with Josh looked into the tank to see what was happening, Tom, however, saw the fish in the tank and suddenly called out, "Daddy, he's right, you should tell the staff lady from before. They don't want people to see drowned fishies, right?"
As Tom said this, he tugged at his father's short sleeve gently, his soft voice was quiet but still loud enough to be heard. His big round eyes looked sad thinking about the dead shark and he looked extremely precious.
Tom's father scratched his neck awkwardly and tried to think of a way to explain this, he took in a deep breath and was about to give up when Josh's dad suddenly butted into the conversation and began speaking, "Well, actually the shark- I mean, fishies, aren't dead. They're actually only sleeping, so you boys should quieten down, you wouldn't want to wake up Mr shark- I mean, Mr fishies, right?"
Joshua stopped pointing at the sharks and let his arm fall to his side, a pout appeared on his cute little face as his eyebrows furrowed slightly. His lips quivered slightly as he replied to his dad, "No… it's not nice to be woken up early." He looked back at the sharks and suddenly started to run up to the tank, once he reached the tank he squished his face up next to the tank and looked in to have a better view of Mr shark.
"So you do know it's not nice to wake people up at an ungodly hour?" Josh's father desperately wanted to say but his tongue held it in. He was somewhat filled with spire and couldn't help but want to laugh out of the pain of being woken up before the roosters called each morning by his own son.
However, his son paid him no mind and was instead solely focused on his new friend, Mr shark. Josh's face was pressed up to the tank and he stared intently at the huge shark with interest filling his features. "I'm sorry, Mr fishies. Sleep well." He said before he let go of the tank and half skipped half-ran back to the place his family and friend were at. By the time he got back to the group, Tom was asking a question.
"But, daddy, why's it sleeping upside down?" He asked, he was still holding onto his father's sleeve and seemed to have no intention of letting go anytime soon.
"Well actually, it's not sleeping," Toms's father started, he pushed his glasses up on his face with his middle and ring finger and struck a smart anime pose as he was speaking.
His wife, Tom's mother, watched him do this and with an exasperated tone she said, "And here we go again." She had a loving smile on her face and her expression showed a great amount of fondness towards her husband.
"The shark is actually in a state of "tonic immobility",
"But then, what's a shark?" Asked Tom with a confused expression on his face.
"Well, that fish in the tank right there is a shark." His father said as he pointed towards the shark who was drifting around upside down.
"No, but, that's Mr fishies," Tom said, his expression showing he was even more confused than before.
"Yes, Mr fishies is indeed a shark. Replied his father.
"No, because he's Mr fishies." Stated Tom once again.
"Okay, well then, Mr fishies isn't sleeping he's in a state of "tonic immobility"-" Tom's father once again tried, but was interrupted.
"No! You said before that a shark did that. Mr fishies isn't a shark. He's Mr fishies!" Called out Tom with firm expression and a pout gracing his lips.
"Well, then sharks have times in which they're in a state of "tonic immobility"-" Tom's father once again tried to say but was once again interrupted by his son.
"No! No, no, no! I wanted to know about Mr fishies, not a shark. Tell me about Mr fishies instead!" Tom called out, his small eyebrows furrowed and his voice somewhat pitchy.
His father held back an imaginary tear and took a deep breath in to calm himself down.
