Chapter 30 - [30] Avalanche!

[30] Avalanche!

Run!

Both the system and Kayra shouted at the same time when the bear spat a gigantic fireball at Kayra. Without thinking twice, she dashed in a random direction with the polar bear's cub!

"Roar!" The bear's eyes changed and became the darkest shade of fire. She followed Kayra ferociously, all because the latter had run away with her idiot son!

Such a pain being a mother! Even beasts weren't an exception!

"Roar! Roar!"

The bear threatened Kayra to leave her child but how could Kayra do so when she didn't even know the basic thing about psychic signals or how to interpret those?!

To her, those roars were only disturbing noises like mosquitos buzzing and dancing beside your ear in the middle of the night! Thus, while Kayra was running away with the cub, the beast chased her closely.

A huge figure was making havoc on one of the mountains and it didn't take much time for an avalanche to occur.

Phiphi stared at the bear who was getting bigger and bigger as time passed by. Then its eyes fell on the cub in Kayra's possession who had curled into a ball and snuggled against her bosom.

[Honestly, host, if you don't want to live anymore, keep that cub.]

"Ah? What did you say? I didn't hear clearly! Say again!" Kayra spoke out loudly. Because she was in a frenzy to escape, she didn't get its words earlier.

The system was too lazy to repeal itself. A screen flashed in her mind which repeated the line which was in her language and finally, Kayra realized what it wanted to say earlier.

'But it's so cute! I can't bear to throw it away!' Kayra made a crying face as she told the system.

[ When you will die, I want to see… if cuteness saves you or not!]

"..." Kayra really wanted to cry this time.

"Roar!"

While another roar came from behind, Kayra made a sharp turn and went another way. Then, she jumped up and stood on the branch of a gigantic tree.

The bear also stopped in its tracks as it looked back. Her eyes widened when she realized what she had done.

Because she had become 40x of her original size as well as transformed into her fire form, the ice underneath her had been melting for a long time.

That's why a large bear-made lake greeted her as soon as she turned around. Not only that, she and Kayra got to witness how the avalanche was going to happen.

The weak layer of the Wandas Ice Mountains began to break off, pulling all the layers on top of it down the slope. These layers tumbled and fell into a giant block or slab.

Once the slab avalanche started, the slab shattered into many separate blocks. These snow blocks broke up into ever-smaller pieces.

Kayra glanced at the bear who had frozen in her place. She didn't know what she had thought but it automatically came out of her mouth.

"Well, those five cubs are left behind…" Kayra spoke out awkwardly. At the same time, she began to fret for those cubs. 'Poor cubs, will they be alright?'

The bear gave her a murderous glance and then looked at her son. It didn't take more than one second to decide what she had to do.

In the next moment, the fire bear retracted her fire attribute and returned to being a polar bear. At the same time, she shrunk to her original form.

Kayra looked down at the cub in her arms and pursed her lips. Then her eyes fell on the bear who was busy swimming out of the lake she had created in the middle of the mountain.

Kayra jumped down on the ground and put down the cub. She gently nudged it towards the polar bear. However, the cub didn't seem to leave her and cling to her with his paws.

"Ku! Ku!" The cub struggled desperately when Kayra forcefully freed his paws from her silver suit.

"Ah, I don't even know if I can save myself! If you cling to me, only death will greet you!" With despair, Kayra said. Then, she glanced at the bear who was standing right before her.

With a heart full of reluctance, she forcefully pushed the cub towards the polar bear. The polar bear didn't look down on her and rather, turned around.

Then at the top of her lungs, it cried out fiercely. That roar seemed to have majestic power, Kayra thought so because, in the next moment, the other five cubs suddenly materialized in front of her and fell to the ground on their butts!

"Ku~ Ku~"

"Awo! Awo!"

"Wu! Wu!"...

Noticing that it was their mother who had summoned them, all the cubs rushed towards the polar bear and began to nudge against her abdomen. However, the polar bear looked towards the idiot one who was still beside Kayra.

At that moment, Kayra felt that if the cub dared to stay with her even on the verge of death, its mother would roast it alive.

"Ha~ Haha~ Your mother is looking here. Go go!"

As if the cub had realized her words, it looked towards the mother bear and obediently went back. At the same time, it looked back from time to time.

'Aww~ Such a cute little thing~' Kayra felt her already melted heart had begun to evaporate into cute little pink bubbles. But then she blinked her eyes and glanced around, she was taken aback.

"Why are there real bubbles?!" Kayra murmured as she retreated, intending to leave the dangerous sight of the polar bear.

"Roar!!!"

In the next moment, Kayra's instinct for survival kicked in as she was blown away by the terrifying roar of the polar bear. At the same, she couldn't help but crease her nose.

'Ewewew~ Stinky! Gross! Don't they brush their teeth?!' Kayra thought as she tried to block her sense of smell.

When she was blown away, a bubble came out of the polar bear's forehead. Then it surrounded the polar bear's body. Then in no time, the avalanche reached the bubble and for some reason, the debris avoided the bubble.

All of these fell straight into Kayra's eyes. It was clear that the polar bear was highly intelligent and deliberately threw away Kayra as she didn't want to save this creature.

Kayra felt suffocated and swore at the top of her lungs while showing a middle finger to the polar bear.

"Fuck you!"

The polar bear who understood her meaning froze. She then looked down on the cub who was abducted by Kayra earlier. She picked him up with her paw and sniffed around.

Then, she turned to Kayra and roared, 'You can't! You don't have a PP!'

[ … ]

The system, which understood the roar, felt stifled by the polar bear's answer. It felt that the bear was an idiot yet… kinda cute~

If Kayra knew of its thoughts, she would have tripped in the air. How could a polar bear, who could spit fireballs and wanted to kill her, be considered cute?!

The system sure had a heavy preference of the word 'Cute'~

Nonetheless, after she realized that the cubs were safe, Kayra didn't stay in her place so that the avalanche could get her and bury her under the ice!

She jumped from one place to another and tried to hide somewhere for the moment. She ran perpendicular to its path to avoid getting caught up in the middle of it.

Thus, with her little knowledge, Kayra got past this terrifying natural disaster which was caused by the damn polar or whatever bear!

"Phew~ I nearly lost this 'hard to get' life!" Kayra screamed. When she looked up, only ice greeted her.

Her hand which was peeking through the ice was twisting nonstop. As it turned out, she still got caught in the avalanche and buried under the ice!

"Tho~"

After removing the ice from the front, Kayra crawled out of the ground with her four limbs and looked back. Earlier she had jumped up on a sturdy ice slab and didn't know where it had brought her.

As she looked around, the light of the great Deluna greeted her only. Feeling cold against her bones, Kayra shivered. She closed her eyes and used a drop of her blood essence to warm up her body.

Only then did she feel alive!

"Hopefully, they are fine. Let's tread ahead." Knowing that a magical bubble was protecting the polar bear and baby cubs, Kayra murmured as she looked back.

Then, she looked ahead and began to walk with small steps while hugging her body with her two arms.

"Ohoho~ Too much coldness!"

[ …Indeed. ]

While Kayra was trying to find a way out of this hell of an ice mountain, a figure flew towards the polar bear. She looked down on the bubble and landed beside it.

The polar bear also retracted the bubble and stared at the woman warily.

"Guardian, did you see someone suspicious? Something dangerous?" The lady with the green eyes asked. The words were mixed with psychic power and the polar bear understood.

But, the polar bear shook her head. How could a woman, who didn't have anything to save herself be considered dangerous? Also, what did she mean by suspicious?

The polar bear didn't understand and didn't have the mood to cooperate further.

With her little cubs who were huddled beside her, she moved to leave the place. At the same time, she spat fire on the woman's face as a warning not to overdo anything or get nearby.

"..." The woman, who got her face charred black, 'Why must you be so cold?... Er, hot!'
